Hey, guys. Adam here with americantrucks.com and today, we're taking a closer look at and installing the TruXedo Sentry CT Hard Roll-Up Bed Cover, available for the 2015 and newer F-150. You should be checking this option out if you're looking to stray away from the traditional soft roll-up or soft, old tonneau cover in order to pick up one that is a lot more durable, and has a little bit more security and is at the higher end of the spectrum as far as premium quality. Now, the reason this is at the higher end is because it does have a fully aluminum frame, aluminum slats, for added support and security, security being it's not easily broken into. This thing has that durable, locked aluminum frame. So with your tailgate up, you're not getting any access to it and you really can't rip through this thing because it's got that hardcore underneath. Now, with that said, it does have a woven fabric texture on top, with a matte black finish I think looks very, very sleek and the entire thing sits at an extremely low profile. That's a big plus for me. I don't like tonneau covers that stick out like a sore thumb, have a couple of inches that it comes up and you can clearly see it. I like when it blends in. It's super sleek. And with our lifted truck, and me being so short, I honestly can't even see it very well. With the whole of that in mind, this does have a very quick-to-release system. So we have it latched shut. I'm going to drop our tailgate, and right underneath, there's a cord that you're going to pull that just unlatches this top. Now, you don't have to do it on both sides. It's just one side, one pull. Once you have that unlatched, the Velcro on the sides, keep it secured to each side. You're basically just going to roll this all the way back. Once you get to the end, there's a rope on the inside here with that metal hook. You can bring that right back, hook it onto this rubber attachment and tighten it. And it will secure it. Now, you can do that on both sides. Now, to get it unlatched, just loosen that chord, pull that off. At this point, we can just unroll it all the way back to the tailgate. Now, before we get to this latch portion, you want to shut your tailgate. You can slam it shut. If you have cargo that you're trying to haul that is taller than your tonneau cover would allow, you can open it right up, secure it back, and haul whatever you have. With cargo that does fit right underneath your tonneau cover, if you are driving with it closed or if you want to leave it there overnight, like I said, it locks when your tailgate is shut. You can't open it. It's weatherproof sealed and it's weather resistant. So, no matter what the climate, you'll definitely be able to keep your cargo safe. If you're located here on the East Coast like we are, we see a lot of different weather. And this thing holds up against the test of time. Weatherstripping all around, you're basically attaching bed rails to your pre-existing bed rails and you're just latching it down. Now, the way the actual tonneau cover bolts up, it clips and latches right up by your bulkhead, just rolls all the way out and snaps shut on those rails, very simple, very quick to release. The whole system comes in right around 1,000 bucks, a little under the thousand-dollar mark. So, again, it is a little bit more on the higher end of the spectrum, but it's not as pricey as a full shell. I personally think this is one of my favorites here. TruXedo makes really good quality stuff and I like the way this thing gets used. I'm going to show you guys how it works in just a second. But know, the install gets one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Tackle it in about 15, 20 minutes, at the absolute most. All you'll need is an impact gun or a ratchet and a 13-millimeter socket or a 1/2-inch socket. I'm going to take you guys through start to finish. Let's get to it.Tools used in this install include an impact gun and a 13-millimeter deep socket. Now, the first step here is to make sure you're cleaning off your bulkhead. Now, because we're just going to be removing ours, I'm not going to be taking that step, but I am going to be applying our bulkhead weatherstripping. This is basically going to weatherstrip, you know, proof the bulkhead seal so that our tonneau cover can lay right up against it and it doesn't leak on to our cargo. So what you're going to do after you've cleaned the bulkhead, you might want to take some alcohol wipes or a soap and water mixture to clean that off. Once you do, start peeling, and you'll notice that there is a bit of a lip on this weatherstripping. That's going to be facing inside of the bed. We're going to run this right across the inside edge of the bulkhead, making sure we're getting it as straight as possible from edge to edge. Now, there might be some excess at the end of it. And, if there is, what we're going to do is just cut it off. Now, as you can see, we have a pretty good amount of excess. I'll just take it back to the side of our bed rail, grab some wire cutters or snips and just cut that off. The next step here is to grab our driver's side bed rail included in the kit. You want to make sure this flat track is facing the inside of your bed. Basically, the weatherstripping on the outside is going to sit flush up against the inside of your factory bed rail. And the weatherstripping on the end here is going to basically smush up against the bulkhead, flush with the weatherstripping we just installed there. Once we have it in place, we're going to hold it there and shut our tailgate and it's going to hold itself up. Let me show you what I mean. We're gonna line this up first at the bulkhead, get that nice and flush with the weatherstripping. Try to hold it yourself and work your way back to the tailgate. From here, pick it up, put it in place, and it holds itself up. Now, it might not be perfect, you might have to go back in and make some adjustments and hold this down. But once we hop in the bed, we're going to clamp it and it'll hold itself up. Next up, we're going to grab three of our clamps and you're going to position them at right about where I have them laid out. You're going to do one closer to the bulkhead, one closer to the middle, and one about 6 inches or so away from your caps. Now, you're gonna grab a 13-millimeter socket or a 1/2-inch socket, whichever one you have, depending on if it's metric or standard, and we're gonna basically go underneath and clamp this to our factory bed.You want to make sure that your bed rail is sitting flush up against the bulkhead and it's nice and tight. Do this for the other two.All right, now, I'll repeat this for the other side. All right, guys, you want to make sure you're having your entire roll-up tonneau cover rolled up just like it is out of the box. You really don't even have to do anything with it. Take it out of the box, drop it right in place, as if it's gonna roll out to the tailgate. You want to make sure it's positioned properly. This bottom flap here at the front end is what's going to lock it into place on your bed rails. Now, on each side, there's a little bolt head or hex bolt head. That's going to drop down into this oval cutout inside of your bed rail. We're basically going to drop this down. You'll feel it, kind of, click into place. And then, from underneath, you're going to slide this latch all the way forward. Once you have it dropped into place, we're going to crawl underneath and pull this latch all the way to the left. So it's to the left on our driver's side, to the right on our passenger's side. Sliding that, you'll see it moves. It's going to lock into place to make sure that this stays where it needs to be. So what we're going to do, drop this down, press on both sides. I'm going to head underneath and close that latch. All right, now, at this point, you can look straight up and see if that little bolt head is coming through the hole. If it's not, you can push up on the bottom of this rail, which you're probably going to want to do anyway. Push straight up on it and then, for this latch, you're going to push forward. You'll hear it. It's a loud click, snaps right into place and it's secured. Do the same thing on the other side. All right, same thing on the other side, we're going to line this up and, if you need to, you can slide back and forth. From here, push up and lock it in. Now, at this point, we can really just roll back our tonneau cover and snap it into place at our tailgate. The install is, for the most part, complete. At this point, what we want to do is just roll it back. Keep in mind that because it's a hard roll-up, there are easy locations to pinch your fingers. So really, you just wanna use the palm of your hands to unroll it. Bring it all the way back, latch it down. Shut your tailgate. From here, you're good to go.Well guys, that's gonna wrap up my review and install for the TruXedo Sentry CT Hard Roll-Up Bed Cover, available for the '15 and newer F-150s.
