Justin: The SpeedForm Throttle Controller device that we have here will be the most affordable of its kind for all 2011 and newer F-150 owners who are looking to possibly help eliminate that lag or delay in their drive-by-wire truck. Now, the SpeedForm Controller will feature five preset modes, which by the way, are further customizable thanks to the additional nine positions of sensitivity adjustment, essentially allowing you to custom tailor each mode to your personal preference. Now, price point for the SpeedForm is going to hover right around 120 bucks, while the install itself is completely plug and play. So, therefore, figure soft one outta three wrenches on the difficulty meter and no more than a few minutes of your time to complete from start to finish.So, throttle control devices like this have been around for a little while now in the aftermarket and you can find a bunch of them here on the site under a few different names or aliases. But for the most part guys, they all exist to serve that same common purpose or goal, and that is eliminate the perceived lag or delay of you pushing down the throttle pedal in your truck and the truck not always reacting in the manner in which you want it to. Now, I'm not going to get crazy scientific in this particular video, but if you did want a better idea of how these things actually function, what they are actually doing, we have a very good breakdown on our AmericanTrucks Ford YouTube channel that really shows what is going on with these little devices and how they alter your trucks. So again, feel free to check that out if you'd like to see a full breakdown of the operation. But to summarize in a nutshell, these devices basically increase or in some cases even decrease the throttle voltage, which in turn directly affects just how much or how little your throttle body opens. For instance, a race mode is going to see a far greater voltage increase at any given throttle input when compared to a stock or eco setting. And that's where the truck is really going to feel sportier or faster given that same 25% throttle input in race mode when compared to the same 25% input in stock or eco mode. And again, we do demonstrate this very well in that video we just referenced over on our ATF channel.Now, there is one thing I do want to clarify here and that is the fact that these devices do not physically add horsepower, or torque, or even acceleration like a tuner would. Again, this is strictly a throttle device as the name would indicate. Now, it might feel like the truck is actually faster or sportier than before, but that's simply due to the fact that the throttle is being opened more than it was before depending on your mode. Now, ultimately, if you did want to add more horsepower, more torque, and increase that throttle input, an aftermarket can or custom tune is still going to be the only way to roll there.But with that out of the way, let's talk a little bit more about the different modes because in my opinion, that's one of the very cool things about the SpeedForm device. Now, right out of the box you are getting five different modes including stock, which will be exactly as it sounds, right? There are no changes made to your throttle sensitivity, and therefore, the truck will function exactly as it did before. Now, this is going to be displayed on your device as no or N-O. Secondly, there will be an eco mode which is designed for fuel economy benefits. Now, unlike the performance mode, which tend to crank that voltage up over stock, the eco mode is going to do the exact opposite and reduce voltage given the same input to help increase your fuel economy. Now, this will be displayed on the device as E-C or short for an eco.Up next, you start getting into your more performance-based modes including comfort sport mode, which will offer a nice balance of performance and fuel economy. In fact, I would think most truck owners would choose this as a good compromise for daily driving and will be displayed on your device as P1. Finally, we have the two most aggressive modes which will be sport and race. Now, sport mode or P2 as it's displayed will improve your throttle input noticeably over stock, eco, or even that comfort mode we just talked about, but at the same time, it's not going to be too touchy or over the top. And then, last but not least, there is the all-out-race mode or P3 as it's displayed. Now, this mode will offer the most aggressive voltage ramping which will have your truck feeling like a completely different animal once it's selected.Now, if this or any of the modes are a bit much, or maybe even too little, SpeedForm offers nine additional positions of sensitivity adjustment and is one of the most unique things about this very budget-friendly option. Again, currently the most affordable of its kind on the site. So, if the race mode, for instance, is a little too much like a hair-trigger, for lack of a better word, you can definitely dial that back a bit thanks to that sensitivity adjustment. And the same can be true for any of the eco modes or even the comfort sport mode. You can turn them up if you wanted. And again, that goes for any of the modes on the device.Speaking of the device, well here you go. You can see it's a tiny little thing, small, sleek, but at the same time, easy enough to mount anywhere in the interior of your truck. You're going to have a mode button here, which will obviously allow you to switch between the different modes and you also have a plus and minus button, which will allow you to adjust that sensitivity we just talked about. Now, in addition to that, guys, you will find the adhesive located on the back for you. And this is going to allow you to easily adhere this to your dashboard, your cluster, or even somewhere on your console. You're also getting your plug and play wiring, which again does tap into the wiring harness near the throttle pedal and you're getting about 4 to 5 feet of additional wiring that allows you to place the display basically anywhere you want, gives you a lot of flexibility.And one thing the site does point out that I really, really want to reaffirm here, guys, is that because this doesn't physically tap into your truck's OBD2 port, and because it doesn't physically change or alter your truck's tune, there is no footprint left behind once the device has been removed. So, therefore, that should help alleviate any possible warranty concerns you may have and is certainly one of the reasons why these devices are so dang popular.Last but not least guys, this is always a great time to remind you to check out the customer review section on the product pages if you haven't done so already. It will be a good way to figure out some of the good and maybe not so good of a certain product and will give you a better sense of what to expect once you install something like this on your truck at home.Speaking of that installation, now comes the point in the video where we want to show you just how easy it is to get the SpeedForm device installed on your rig at home. In fact, no tools needed whatsoever. One hundred percent plug and play job as we'll show you right now. Check it out.Man: So, the first step of this install is actually going to be to connect my wire harness into my control box. I'm going to do that on the table because it's a lot easier to make this connection on the table than it will be underneath the dashboard. So, what I'm going to do is just plug in the wire harness right here to the control box, make sure the connector clips in, and now we can get underneath the dash.So, in order to install this product, I need to disconnect the throttle pedal. I'm going to do so by lifting up on the red safety tab, depressing the clip and disconnecting the connector. Then, I'm going to take my throttle controller wire harness, plug it into that connector and push the red tab down. And then, install the new connector onto the throttle pedal. And once again, pushing the red tab down and then I can tuck the control box up and fish my wire harness up the steering column to the dashboard. And now we can just plug in the wire harness to our digital controller that mounts up anywhere you want it to really, and you peel off the 3M backing. And for these purposes, we're just going to put this right here next to the steering column on the left side and stick it in place like that.And that's going to wrap up this review and install for the SpeedForm Throttle Controller.
