      Video Review & Installation

Hey, guys. It's Sara with americantrucks.com. And today we have a review and install of the Mammoth 1-Inch Rear Lift Kit, fitting your '04 to '14 two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive F-150s, excluding the Raptor. This will work well for the F-150 owner who wants to raise the rear of their truck to aid in towing or hauling and is especially useful if you have a leveling kit already installed on the front and you want to lift the rear as well. So keep in mind, because this kit alone only lifts the rear of the vehicle and doesn't provide any lift to the front, the recommended tire size for this kit will be your stock tires. Stock tire sizes may vary, but on our truck, we have a 31-inch tire stock, which is what you will see in this video. These rear lift blocks measure in at approximately 1 inch, providing 1 inch of rear lift. The blocks feature a machined billet aluminum construction with a raw finish, and the kit includes longer U-bolts as well as all necessary mounting hardware. So as far as price goes, this kit comes in at around $150, which is a budget-friendly way to lift the rear of your truck to aid in towing or hauling. And as far as the install goes, I'm giving this one a three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a direct bolt-up installation that can be done within two hours. So with that said, let's check out our install. For this install, you will need an impact gun, or a ratchet will work just fine. You will also need 15-millimeter, 21-millimeter, and 24-millimeter sockets, an 18-millimeter wrench, and an optional but helpful tool is a rubber mallet. All right. So we have our truck up on the lift here, and we're supporting the axle. If you aren't on a lift, make sure you are still supporting your axle with some jack stands if you are working in your driveway. Next up, we're going to remove the bolt from the bottom of the shock. Grab a 15-millimeter socket and an 18-millimeter wrench and get this removed. Now using a 21-millimeter socket, we're going to remove the 4 nuts on the bottom of the U-bolts. Go ahead and get these removed. Now we can remove the U-bolts. If this line is attached to one of your U-bolts still, just pop the clip off. You can do it by hand, and then remove both of your U-bolts. All right. So now that we've removed the U-bolts, what we can do is lower our pole jack to lower down the axle. Now it's not attached, so just be careful as you're doing this. And we just want enough space to be able to slip the additional spacer on top of our factory one. Now that we've lowered it enough, what we're going to do is slide the spacer on top of our factory block. With the pins pointing down, line it up with both this block and the spring. And once it's in, we can begin to raise it so that it meets the bottom of the spring and lines up with the two posts on the spring. All right. With our blocks seated, we can now install the longer U-bolts. These go exactly in the factory location over top, and make sure they're seated properly in the brackets above the spring. Now you can install the factory bracket over the bottom of the U-bolts. Install the new hardware. Now we can tighten this bracket down. But try to make sure it's as even side to side and front to back as you possibly can. Then with a 24-millimeter socket, go ahead and start to tighten it down. Again, try to tighten these nuts as evenly as possible. Now with everything tightened up, go ahead and replace the two clips that go over your U-bolts to hold your line. Now, what we're going to do is lower down your axle slowly so that we can line up the shock opening with the shock mount. You may need to compress your shock a bit to help get it lined up. And if you're having any difficulties, you can lightly tap the bolt through with a rubber mallet. With your 15-millimeter socket and your 18-millimeter wrench, tighten it down. All right. So now that this side is complete, repeat those steps to install your other side. Make sure everything is torqued to spec, and that is going to do it for the review and install of our rear lift block kit. And remember, for all things F-150, keep it at americantrucks.com.
