Jake: Jake here for American Trucks, and today I'm taking a look at the Rough Country Custom-Fit Under Seat Storage Compartment for 2019 and newer Silverado 1500 Crew Cab models. Now, we all know that pickups are the masters of hauling and practicality. However, there's one place where they miss the mark as compared to other vehicles, and that is the lack of enclosed storage space. There's only so much stuff you can throw on the floor of your cab or even in the glove box before it gets a little unwieldy. And even if you have a bed cap or a tonneau cover, adding a bit more storage space inside the cab will never really go amiss. Now, this under seat tray from Rough Country adds an extra hidden storage space inside the cabin of your truck, and it comes in at about the lowest price in the category, making this a really appealing buy. Now, this is a pretty straightforward piece. It's just a molded tray that fits nice and snug underneath of the rear seat of your truck. Now, before we go any further though, I do want to take a moment to reiterate that this does only fit crew cab models. Now, when the rear seat is in its normal down position, you might not even notice this. The upper rim here is molded to match the contours of the rear seat and the rear bulkhead as well. So it's gonna fit in nice and tight without rubbing on the seat itself. It's not gonna bang against the seat while you're driving, but most importantly, it provides a nearly enclosed storage space. So it's gonna keep things out of sight and off of the floor of your truck. So, nothing's gonna go sliding around on the floor and it's gonna keep them away from prying eyes and out of the way of your passengers. So, if you wanna keep valuables like say a jump box or some important tools, maybe some toe straps, or boots in here, they're not gonna be seen until you flip that seat up. Now, the tray itself here is made from high density thermoplastic, so, it's strong, it's heat resistant, and you've got this groove pattern on the bottom here that's gonna help keep things from sliding around within the tray itself. Plus, being plastic, this is super lightweight, it's very easy to wash out, should you happen to get it dirty. Little spritz with a hose, maybe some soap and you're back in business. And of course it's finished in black here too, so it's gonna blend in perfectly with your Silverado's interior plastics and that carpet. So, when everything is down and closed off, this is nearly imperceptible unless you are already looking for it.Now, the other attractive feature here is that price. Coming in at $175, this is about the cheapest under seat storage solution you can get for this gen of Silverado. Now, this is not metal, it's not a lockable box or anything like that, but it is durable, it's stealthy, and it's practical. Comparable other products are gonna go for quite a bit more money, but this is a really solid choice for any Silverado owner.Installation is also a huge plus here, coming in at an easy one out of three on our difficulty meter. There's not a whole lot to this. It should only take you about 15 minutes to do at most, and it just screws in right here in the back where your jack and your tools go under the seat of your truck. So, it's super easy to do up and you get a nice place for that jack and those associated tools as well since they're gonna be inside of this tray. But, no sense in continuing to talk about it when we can just show you, and here to do that is one of our AT customers.Man: For the installation of our Rough Country under seat storage bin, the only tool you're gonna need today is a 10-millimeter deep socket or a wrench will do the trick as well. In the box alongside the product, you're going to find a piece of paper from Rough Country, which has a QR code on it, that will lead you to printable installation directions, which you see here. How you doing, folks? And welcome to our installation video for our Rough Country crew cab under seat storage system for our 2019 and up GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado models 1500, 2500, and 3500. Today we're gonna be installing the under seat storage in a 2022 Chevy Silverado. Here you have the product itself. This storage bin is used under the rear seats of crew cab models to keep your items nice and stowed during your travels. In the box, all you have is the item, there are no other parts for installation, which makes for a fairly easy installation process. For the start of our installation process, here at the rear door of our passenger side, I've already gone ahead and moved up the driver side and passenger seats to give optimal room for installation. The first step we're gonna do is take our seats and fold them upright. In order to install our storage bin, we need to remove the jack and the toolkit that are located underneath the rear seats. Any items or nuts that you remove are going to be placed back, so please don't discard them and keep track of them. The first thing we're going to do is locate this wing nut on the jack on the passenger side of the vehicle. Turn it to the left, it may take some force to remove the wheel chocks. Make sure to put it aside for later. Remove the wheel chocks. Our next step is going to be to loosen the jack and remove it from the mount. We do that by turning this yellow knob counterclockwise. The jack will start to loosen from the mount. Once the jack is removed, we're going to remove the mount from the studs using our 10-millimeter socket. The nuts are located here on the left and here on the right. After you've removed the nuts, you can take your hands on the mount and just simply lift off. Our mount and jack are now removed from the passenger side. Our next step is to loosen the wing nut from the floor stud and remove the toolkit from under the driver side rear seat. That wing nut is located here. Turn it counterclockwise and remove it off the stud and place it to the side. Now, we are gonna take our Rough Country storage bin and we're gonna place it in the vehicle like so. Do so, so that the cutout on the storage bin lines up with the hump towards the center of the vehicle. On the storage bin, you're gonna see three pre-drilled holes, two on the passenger side, and one on the driver side. Those holes are meant to fit over the studs that were used to mount the jack and the toolkit that we removed before. Place those holes on the studs like so. Push and secure down. Now that the storage bin is in the vehicle, we're gonna begin the process of reinstalling the jack and the tools that we took out earlier. We're gonna start by taking the jack mount and placing it back onto the studs just as it was before, this time on top of the storage bin. We're then gonna take our 10-millimeter deep socket and the nuts that we took off and reinstall them. Next, we're gonna take our jack and we're gonna secure it back to the mount. We do that, placing the yellow knob up and placing the holes on the jack with these prongs on the mount. You may need to lower the jack by turning this counterclockwise a little more to get the top of the jack to line up with its place on the mount. Once in, now turn the yellow knob clockwise to extend the jack into place. Do so until the jack is nice and sturdy in the mount as it was before you removed it. The yellow knob should become hand tight.Once the jack is secure in place, take the hook that was used to secure the wheel chocks and place it back over the jack. Take the wheel chocks and place them onto the threads of the hook, securing it to the jack as it was before we removed it. Take your wing nut and place it onto the threads of the hook, turning it clockwise. Tighten until it's secure. Our last step of the installation process is to secure the tools onto the driver side. Securing the wing nut back onto the stud that held them in place. Do so by turning the wing nut clockwise. Tighten until hand tight. Once secured, your tools and your mount are now also securing the storage bin to the vehicle. And your installation is done.Jake: That's gonna wrap it up here for our review and install of the Rough Country Custom-Fit Under Seat Storage Compartment for 2019 and newer Silverado 1500 Crew Cabs.
