Description
Performance-Gear Ratio. Replace worn out gears or upgrade to a higher gear ratio with Motive 8.5 in. & 8.6 in. Rear Ring Gear and Pinion Kit. This gear kit has a high gear ratio of 4.11, which perfect if you’re putting on bigger tires or just wanting some extra low-end torque for high performance applications. These are perfect factory replacements as they match OEM specification to a tee. If you plan on using your truck for some off-road trail crawling or hauling and towing, this kit is perfect for you.
Measures up to Your OEM Gears. The Motive 8.5 in. & 8.6 in. Rear Ring Gear and Pinion Kit is made of 8620-grade stainless steel that’s composed of 3 strong metal alloys. It’s the gear material of choice because of the stronger core compared to other types of steel. Each gear underwent computerized heat-treatment to further reinforce the metal enabling it to withstand much higher torque and horsepower.
Retune After Installation. If you are changing gear ratios, it’s recommended to that you retune your engine’s computer for accuracy. Since the RPM will change with the gear ratio, it will throw off your speedometer and give you inaccurate speeds.
Installing Gears. Installation of your Motive 8.5 in. & 8.6 in. Rear Ring Gear and Pinion Kit are best left to your trusted mechanic. Specialized equipment and tools would be needed for the assembly and disassembly of your differential.
Motive’s 1-Year/50,000 Warranty. Motive warrants the Motive 8.5 in. & 8.6 in. Rear Ring Gear and Pinion Kit to be free from factory defects such as material and workmanship for a year or up to 50,000 miles of use. Check out the manufacturer’s website to learn more.
Technical Note. Chevy Silverado 4WD models requires identical or close to identical front and back axle ratio. This is to prevent damages to the drive train components such as the drive shaft, axle shaft, and gearbox.
