      Video Review & Installation

Hey guys. It's Sara with americantrucks.com, and today we have a review and install of the Mammoth 4-Inch Rear Lift Block Kit, fitting your '04 and newer F150s with Four-Wheel-Drive and Excluding the Raptor. This kit provides 4-inches of rear lift to aid in towing or hauling and is especially useful if you have a leveling solution already installed on the front. These lift blocks feature steel construction and a nice black finish. This kit also includes longer U-bolts as well as all necessary mounting hardware. And as far as price goes, this kit comes in at around $150, making it a budget-friendly solution to lifting the rear of your truck. And as far as the install goes, I'm giving this one a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a direct bolt-up installation that can be done within two hours. So, with that said, let's check out the install. For this install you will need an impact gun or a ratchet will work just fine, 24-millimeter, 21-millimeter, 18-millimeter, and 15-millimeter sockets. You may also want a swivel extension, and you will need 15-millimeter, 18-millimeter, and 24-millimeter wrenches. All right, with your truck in the air and the axle supported, the next step is we're gonna remove the bolt that goes to the bottom of your shock so we can drop the axle down and remove the block. With a 15-millimeter socket and 18-millimeter wrench go ahead and get this removed. With your 21-millimeter socket, we're gonna now remove the 4 nuts on the bottom of the U- bolts. And remove your U-bolts. All right, so because we are working with a straight axle, it may be easier to uninstall both sides simultaneously. We've got our passenger side caught up to our driver side, you just repeat all of those steps, and now we can drop our axle at the same time. So, we're gonna lower the axle down until we can safely remove this piece. And repeat that on the other side. All right, now that we have our factory components uninstalled from our truck, we can check them out side by side with our rear lift blocks here. Now, as you can see, these are quite a bit larger than factory, as I said before, they come in at 4 inches. They also have these bump stops on the side here and again that is because of the larger size. And they've included with this kit, longer U-bolts which are necessary for install. So that's a nice feature as well. And with that said, let's finish up our install. All right, with both of our factory blocks out, we can now slowly lower our axle until there's enough space to slot in our new block. Now, you will have to drop your axle quite a bit in order to fit this larger spacer in. There are two tabs on the bottom of the block, and there's also this bump stop, this one will face in towards your diff. All right, with our lift block in place, you wanna install the lift block on the other side as well. And once they're both in, we can raise our axle back up, and make sure we line it up with the posts on the leaf spring. At this point, make sure your passenger side block is seated as well. And then what we're gonna do is line up the U-bolts and slide them into place. Slide them into the factory bracket on the bottom. These might be a little bit tight so you may have to squeeze them to get them through the holes. Now you can install the new hardware onto the bottom of your U-bolts. Now, what we're gonna do is take a 24-millimeter socket and drive these almost all the way up. But our socket is not deep enough so we're gonna finish this with a wrench. Go ahead and get these started and make sure you tighten them down evenly. All right, so I did wanna point out because our U-bolts are longer than factory, if your socket does not reach all the way to make sure that it's not as tight, you can finish it off with a wrench or a ratcheting wrench like we have here. Next up, we're gonna reattach the bottom of the shock. If it's gone a little bit lower than the mount, you can just push it up, and then as it comes back down, line up your bolt. Then with an 18-millimeter socket, and a 15-millimeter wrench, or of course vice versa, we're gonna go ahead and tighten it down. All right, now make sure you bolt down your U-bolts and your shock on the other side and that all of your bolts are torqued to spec. And then that is gonna do it for the review and install of this rear lift block kit. And remember for all things F150 keep it at americantrucks.com.
