    Review & Installation Video

What's going on, guys? I'm Alex from americanmuscle.com. And this is my quick review and install of the K&N Series 63 AirCharger cold air intake fitting the 2015 and 2016 2.7-liter EcoBoost F-150. In this video, I'm gonna talk about the construction and materials used for this intake system as well as touching on the installation a little bit later in the video. But right off the bat, I'm gonna be giving this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You should have this on your truck in about one hour, tops. And this intake is gonna be for the F-150 owner that's looking to clean up their engine bay as well as adding a little bit more of horsepower, torque, and, even in some instances, improving their fuel consumption. Now, I do wanna note right off the bat that you should be expecting single to high single-digit numbers. But the noise, throttle response, as well as fuel consumption improvement are definitely gonna be there. Now, I do wanna note, because the F-150 EcoBoost platform has a speed density style mass airflow sensor, this is not going to require a custom tune. But down the road, if you're looking for some more power, I'd definitely suggest taking a look at it. Another great piece about this is that this is gonna be completely reusable. So down the road, if it gets dirty. You simply just need to wash and re-oil it, and you're good to go. Now, right off the bat, guys, the quality here is gonna be top notch. And this is something that we're all accustomed to from K&N based on the polyethylene tubing right here, their heavy-duty couplers and reducer as well as their million-mile warranty filter that's known to filter out all types of contaminants from your motor. So just to hit this home again, guys, one of the reasons why myself as well as many other consumers purchase the K&N system is because they're known for their reliability as well as having an oiled filter that can be rewashed and reused over time. So diving into the pricing here, guys, we're gonna see that this AirCharger system is gonna fall in the neighborhood of right around $250, which, in my opinion, you're getting a huge bang for the buck here based on K&N's engineering as well as knowing that other intake systems can easily tip the scales at around $400 to $500 based on their construction and materials used. Now, for the money, I can't stress it enough that you're definitely getting a huge bargain for this system based on K&N's reliability, their million-mile warranty, as well as knowing that you're gonna be increasing your throttle response, horsepower, and torque, and, even in some instances, pick up on fuel consumption. So touching on the installation, again, guys, like I had said in the beginning of the video, this is gonna be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and you should have this on your truck in about one to two hours with some basic hand tools like a socket set. And this is definitely another perk for me when looking at a cold air intake system for my own truck as you are not gonna need to purchase any other type of supporting modifications for this system like a handheld custom tune. Now, I will add that it might be something you may wanna take a look at down the road if you're looking to make some serious horsepower All right, guys, so just to wrap things up here, I really like this option from K&N, not only based on the fact that you're gonna increase your throttle response and even pick up a couple horsepower as well as some noise under the hood, but for the fact that this filter right here is gonna be reusable and re-washable over the years. So that's my quick review and install for the K&N Series 63 AirCharger cold air intake system for 2.7-liter EcoBoost F-150 right here at americanmuscle.com.

Simple Power. What if you could make the most of your truck and really amp up its power with one simple change that won't cost very much? That's exactly what the K&N Series 63 Aircharger cold air intake is made for. It helps your truck perform at all new higher levels, and makes it into a more capable machine for towing, and all around use. This system brings more air to the engine and can help increase its performance by as much as 19 HP and 34 lb.-ft. of torque. It isn't difficult to install and makes a real difference once put on.

Tuning is Not Required. There's no need to worry about an expensive custom computer tune to use this kit, because it's not necessary. There is a chance that a good tune would help improve your truck's performance more significantly, but even without the tune this kit will help. It can be installed with the included hardware and will just function.

Microscopic Filtering. Take your filtering to the next level with the built in system in this intake. It comes with many different layers of cotton fibers with microscopic pores. The cotton is coated with a tacky oil material to increase its ability to capture particles, making it into a highly effective filtering system. With it installed on your truck the engine will remain cleaner. The filter is fully washable as well and with a quick rinse and oil application it can be reused.

High Quality Materials. This K&N Series 63 Aircharger cold air intake is made from top-end materials that are all designed to resist wear while offering durable performance. The intake pipe and the heat shield housing are both crafted from polyethylene plastic that's black and thick enough to withstand everyday pressure. The filter is protectively bundled with aluminum mesh, and the hardware used on this kit is stainless steel.

Quick and Simple Installation. This kit goes on fast and easily thanks to the included hardware installation process. You put it in place and lock it down using the hardware that comes in the package. That's all there is to it and you can easily get your truck outfitted in around an hour.

One Million Miles. Enjoy lifetime limited protection with the one million mile Limited Warranty from K&N on this intake system.

NOT CARB Certified. This K&N Cold Air Intake is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards.

Application. This K&N Series 63 Aircharger Cold Air Intake kit is specially designed to fit the 2015-2017 F-150 models equipped with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine.

Technical Note. The K&N Cold Air Intake is not designed for vehicles equipped with a Body Lift.

    • Unfortunately this tuner is not CARB legal. With that being said, we do offer this intake which is legal under CARB EO Number: D-418-30: https://www.americantrucks.com/roush-performance-cold-air-intake-2015-27eco.html.

I put this thing on my 2017 F150 Platinum 3.5L V6 EcoBoost not realizing it wasn't made for this particular year. Everything bolted on fine. Does anyone know if I might be doing any damage to the motor with this? Might need to switch to a different cold air intake designed and made for my year of truck if so?

    • The K&N Series 63 Aircharger Cold Air Intake was designed specifically for the 15-16 models. We have not tested this to see of any issues would be present on a 17 model.

Took me 15 mins to put together. Very easy. Don’t see much of a mpg difference but that’s only because it makes the turbo louder. I love it. The response is 10x better and that was my biggest problem with this truck is that the throttle response wasn’t up to par (I’ve driven mustangs most of my driving career) so to have something installed on the truck that makes it feel that much better is great I highly recommend this product! I was gonna go Injen or roush but I didn’t want to pay an extra $50-$100

      Cold air 2.7 Ecobeast

First off it’s KandN enough said they have been in the business of quality products for a long time I had local Ford dealership install during a regular service along with a JLT oil catch can looks great under the hood but as far as more noise from the turbos I’m not sure of that I feel like it just provides better airflow but as far as noise I really can’t hear a difference as far as more HP or fuel economy it’s hard to say I have a regular cab short bed 2.7 Ecobeast that flew before and still does so I’m not sure if it changed much but again it’s a KandN so just get it

      Sweet!!!

This I my first truck ever '17 2.7 FX4 ecoboost. I am also not too handy working on vehicles and it wasn't that hard to install. About 90 min The directions said cut the gasket to 9.5 inches and I did unfortunately it was the wrong one. There are 2 gaskets/seals, thick for the top of the heat shield and the small skinny one to be super glued to the bottom. I butchered both gaskets and Super glued the small one on the top instead of the bottom. I called American trucks and told them what I did and they happily sent me new gaskets/Seals. The only difficulty I had was not having enough wiring slack for the air sensor into the new intake tube and it doesn't sit flush. It does sound great and I can hear the air getting sucked in and the turbos sound good too. I can really tell the amazing difference when I put my truck in sport mode, the acceleration is quick and I'm at 60mph in no time. And yes I too can see about 1-2 mpg increase for sure. No regrets with purchase, price or performance. A definite must have! Thank you American trucks for your support!

      Great simple mod

This took about 40 minutes to put on my truck, and it has been an amazing change. I averaged around 19 mpg with my lead foot, and after installing this I am averaging around 20.5. Sound is great, and I love the fact that these are able to be cleaned and reinstalled. Much better performance accelerating, especially when you accelerate from 25-60mph.

      2017 Ford F-150 2.7 Ecoboost K N Intake

KandN Intake is Amazing, the throttle response, hearing the Intake sucking in air and the turbos spooling up is a thing of beauty. Plus getting 2-3 mpg better than I was on a drop in KandN filter with silencers removed on the stock air intake. Must Have!!!!
