    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey, I'm Alex from americanmuscle.com and this is my quick review and breakdown of the FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Shocks, for a zero through one-inch lift, fitting your rear '09 through '16 F-150. So in this is video, I'm gonna break down the construction and materials of these shocks, talk about who these are gonna appeal to, what you should expect to be spending, and then lastly we're gonna hit the installation. But right off the bat I'm gonna be giving this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and you should have this set on your truck in about one to two hours tops. So if you're on the fence about picking up a leveling kit or a lift kit and you're looking for a marginal bump and clearance, but more importantly you're looking for some of the best ride quality and handling out there, I would definitely suggest taking a look at these shocks for your build. Now right out of the gate, before we get out of the meat and potatoes here, I do want to mention that these are gonna be specifically for trucks that are running only up to a one-inch lift, so let's take a look into the construction. It's evident that these are definitely tough parts, just like their corresponding FOX 2.0 coil-over shocks, and we're gonna see that predominantly the body itself is gonna be comprised of a 6061-T6 construction for extreme durability as well as longevity. These shocks are gonna feature a five-eighth-inch hard chrome heat-treated alloy steel shaft that's also gonna utilize nitrile bushings for increased articulation. Now, these are not only gonna help your truck perform that much better off-road, but they're definitely gonna help the handling and performance on-road as well. So taking a look inside these shocks, the FOX series is gonna feature an internal floating piston technology, which essentially means that they're gonna be able to withstand any type of terrain and/or bumps on the road, or even just taking a nasty pothole, or hitting some railroad tracks. Furthermore, they're gonna be filled with the a JM92 suspension fluid just to ensure that your ride is gonna be topnotch. So getting into the pricing here, you should expect to be spending right around $130 per piece here. But, again, I say that these are definitely worth their weight in gold not only from a quality perspective but from a performance perspective. Now when shopping around for shocks, you're gonna see that some alternatives can easily start at around, say, $45, which is gonna be something that you can pick up going down at your local parts store right off the shelf, and they can easily tip the scales of close to $1300, like if you're looking for something with an external reservoir setup. Now, for the money here, again, guys, for FOX quality as well as performance, I definitely think you're getting a huge bank for the buff of this kit. So taking a look at the installation side of the video, just like I had said in the beginning, you're gonna be looking at a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and you should have these on your truck in about one to two hours tops. So the ease of installation here is definitely gonna be a huge selling point for me as these are honestly going to install by themselves. But while it's gonna be easier said than done, you're gonna need to take your wheels and tires off, and then these stock shocks are then gonna be essentially held in by two bolts. Once they're removed, you're gonna replace them with your FOX shock and then you're good to go. All right, so to just wrap things up here, I definitely like this option from FOX, if you're looking for the maximum amount of performance, especially when you're gonna be pairing these with their corresponding coil-over shocks, as well as their construction, their durability, the ease of installation, and the aggressive price for what you're gonna be getting. All right, so that's my detailed review and breakdown of the FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Shock, for the zero through two-inch lift, fitting your rear 2009 through 2016 F-150, available right here at americanmuscle.com.

        5 Top Rated Questions

Do you need a lift on the back already, or does the shock provide the 0-1 inch lift?

        • This FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Shock for 0-1 in. Lift - Rear will accommodate a 0-1" lift. It will not lift the truck on its own.

Could these be used with a 2" leveling kit?

        • This FOX 2.0 Performance Series Rear IFP Shock is designed to be used with no lift or a 1 inch lift and would work with most leveling kits that do not change ride height in the rear or only change it by 1 inch.

How do these shocks do with towing? I am sold on the ride quality, but is my truck going to squat more when I tow?

        • The FOX 2.0 Performance Series Rear IFP Shock will react the same as your stock shocks to towing. Sag in the rear from towing is due to spring rates, and to prevent sag, a stiffer spring, or something like the Timbren SES would be used.

Will it stiffen the ride (eliminate or lessen the bouncing on bumps)?

        • Yes, these Fox performance shocks will provide a stiffer ride and less bounciness on bumps.

            Worth it!!

I just did the rears, and it was worth the dough. That rocking when you hit a dip at slow speed, and that rear wheel hop is GONE. It is funny how more quiet and composed the rear is, compared to the front dampers. Can't wait to swap out the front to the Fox Coilovers next!

I would definitely recommend these shocks! Deffinatly smoothed out my F150. Super easy to install. I know the video gives it one wrench, but I'd give it half a wrench if possible. I don't have a shop or any fancy tools either.

            Nice and tight

I recently put a 2 inch rough country lift kit on my F1 50 and the original shocks that came with a lift kit just had too much bouce for me. After doing some research I found a fox 2.0 shocks and I put them on myself which took less than a half hour using a 15 mm socket, impact tool and an 18 mm wrench. Compressing the shock can be a little tricky but I used a large standard screwdriver to hold it in place while I inserted the bolts .

            Definetly feel a difference

Truck feels much more stable and planted to the ground, ride is about the same as stock if anything a bit stiffer, eliminates rear wheel hopping; installed in less than an hour with power tools. (Warning: shocks are extremely hard to compress)

            Completely Exceeds Expectations !!!

Very fast delivery! Hands down the best shocks I’ve ever had. Easy 10 min install p/side. I’ve had 6 different shock brands on my 3 F150’s that claimed a lot, only one delivered, FOX. The softest ride, no bounce, held stiff during weight and cornering. Only 3 issues, that I didn’t upgrade to Fox sooner, and I’m already thinking about replacing my 11K mile rough rider fronts. these are that impressive I’m moving up to Fox for the fronts the next level up. Wallet’s gonna feel it, butt won’t !!

            Fox 2.0

Wish I would’ve installed sooner, truck rides and drives better. I installed 35” tires and a leveling kit and imo these shocks are a must have item . With out these shocks my truck danced all over the road ( we have poorly maintained highways here in arkansas) and was truly a little unsafe to drive at speeds higher than 55. The Fox 2.0’s cured the problem, the tires now stay controlled snd planted . Great product!

            Great ride

These fished off the suspension setup on my truck after I got the Fox 2.0 coilovers installed up front. They do take speed bumps a little harder when going slow, but bumps and potholes at speed are barely noticeable. Body roll in reduced in curves and turns at speed as well. Haven't been off-road yet, but handling is definitely improved on road.

            A must have for you 2015-18 F-150

Lets face it, the stock factory rear shocks for the F-150 are less than stellar. Trust me, the Fox 2.0 shocks are worth every penny. After putting them on, the rear-end hop attributed to the factory shocks was eliminated. With the Fox 2.0's, you will also notice a more stable ride, giving the truck a more responsive feel. Again, these shocks should be one of the first upgrades you do to your 2015-18 F-150.

I’ve had them on for about 2 weeks now and they are much better than the stock FX4 shocks. The rear doesn’t bounce around on bumps anymore and the truck feels planted to the ground. Install took 30 minutes for bothe sides.

            The way it should be!

Excellent ride quality, handling characteristics, and they damper better than any other I’ve ever had. Definitely a noticeable difference from the stock shocks and should have bit the bullet and purchased the front coil overs at the same time. Ride quality is unmatched. Overall im extremely pleased that the rear end of the truck is stabilized way better than before. Definitely worth the purchase and how it should have came factory on the truck.
