Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey, I'm Alex from americanmuscle.com and this is my quick review and breakdown of the FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Shocks, for a zero through one-inch lift, fitting your rear '09 through '16 F-150. So in this is video, I'm gonna break down the construction and materials of these shocks, talk about who these are gonna appeal to, what you should expect to be spending, and then lastly we're gonna hit the installation. But right off the bat I'm gonna be giving this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and you should have this set on your truck in about one to two hours tops. So if you're on the fence about picking up a leveling kit or a lift kit and you're looking for a marginal bump and clearance, but more importantly you're looking for some of the best ride quality and handling out there, I would definitely suggest taking a look at these shocks for your build. Now right out of the gate, before we get out of the meat and potatoes here, I do want to mention that these are gonna be specifically for trucks that are running only up to a one-inch lift, so let's take a look into the construction. It's evident that these are definitely tough parts, just like their corresponding FOX 2.0 coil-over shocks, and we're gonna see that predominantly the body itself is gonna be comprised of a 6061-T6 construction for extreme durability as well as longevity. These shocks are gonna feature a five-eighth-inch hard chrome heat-treated alloy steel shaft that's also gonna utilize nitrile bushings for increased articulation. Now, these are not only gonna help your truck perform that much better off-road, but they're definitely gonna help the handling and performance on-road as well. So taking a look inside these shocks, the FOX series is gonna feature an internal floating piston technology, which essentially means that they're gonna be able to withstand any type of terrain and/or bumps on the road, or even just taking a nasty pothole, or hitting some railroad tracks. Furthermore, they're gonna be filled with the a JM92 suspension fluid just to ensure that your ride is gonna be topnotch. So getting into the pricing here, you should expect to be spending right around $130 per piece here. But, again, I say that these are definitely worth their weight in gold not only from a quality perspective but from a performance perspective. Now when shopping around for shocks, you're gonna see that some alternatives can easily start at around, say, $45, which is gonna be something that you can pick up going down at your local parts store right off the shelf, and they can easily tip the scales of close to $1300, like if you're looking for something with an external reservoir setup. Now, for the money here, again, guys, for FOX quality as well as performance, I definitely think you're getting a huge bank for the buff of this kit. So taking a look at the installation side of the video, just like I had said in the beginning, you're gonna be looking at a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and you should have these on your truck in about one to two hours tops. So the ease of installation here is definitely gonna be a huge selling point for me as these are honestly going to install by themselves. But while it's gonna be easier said than done, you're gonna need to take your wheels and tires off, and then these stock shocks are then gonna be essentially held in by two bolts. Once they're removed, you're gonna replace them with your FOX shock and then you're good to go. All right, so to just wrap things up here, I definitely like this option from FOX, if you're looking for the maximum amount of performance, especially when you're gonna be pairing these with their corresponding coil-over shocks, as well as their construction, their durability, the ease of installation, and the aggressive price for what you're gonna be getting. All right, so that's my detailed review and breakdown of the FOX 2.0 Performance Series IFP Shock, for the zero through two-inch lift, fitting your rear 2009 through 2016 F-150, available right here at americanmuscle.com.

5 Top Rated Questions

Could these be used with a 2" leveling kit?

  • This FOX 2.0 Performance Series Rear IFP Shock is designed to be used with no lift or a 1 inch lift and would work with most leveling kits that do not change ride height in the rear or only change it by 1 inch.

I am looking for something that won't change the hight of the rear except when I tow. Will this do that?

  • This will not offer a change in height, this is simply a real shock that fits in Jeeps with 0-1 inch lifts.

How do these shocks do with towing? I am sold on the ride quality, but is my truck going to squat more when I tow?

  • The FOX 2.0 Performance Series Rear IFP Shock will react the same as your stock shocks to towing. Sag in the rear from towing is due to spring rates, and to prevent sag, a stiffer spring, or something like the Timbren SES would be used.

Will this fit a 2010 F150 fx2?

  • This will work with your truck yes.

Looking for a shock that provides increased comfort, off-road performance and occasional towing of a 32 ft bumper pull rv. Would these be a good fit for what I am looking for?

  • This Performance Series Shock features a race developed high flow piston designed to provide superior ride quality on the road, as well as the stability foroff-road usage as well.

    FOX 2.0 Shocks

As detailed by others, my 2017 F150 feels more planted with less rear axle hop when encountering large pot holes or bumps. Glad I made the investment. I do believe instructions should have been included with the shocks. I used a lot of the tips on line to help with the install. Thanks to everyone!

    A must have for you 2015-18 F-150

Lets face it, the stock factory rear shocks for the F-150 are less than stellar. Trust me, the Fox 2.0 shocks are worth every penny. After putting them on, the rear-end hop attributed to the factory shocks was eliminated. With the Fox 2.0's, you will also notice a more stable ride, giving the truck a more responsive feel. Again, these shocks should be one of the first upgrades you do to your 2015-18 F-150.

    Much better than stock.

I’ve had them on for about 2 weeks now and they are much better than the stock FX4 shocks. The rear doesn’t bounce around on bumps anymore and the truck feels planted to the ground. Install took 30 minutes for bothe sides.

    The way it should be!

Excellent ride quality, handling characteristics, and they damper better than any other I’ve ever had. Definitely a noticeable difference from the stock shocks and should have bit the bullet and purchased the front coil overs at the same time. Ride quality is unmatched. Overall im extremely pleased that the rear end of the truck is stabilized way better than before. Definitely worth the purchase and how it should have came factory on the truck.

Installing these shocks was a one man job and took a total of 25 minutes. No need to Jack the truck up just remove the shocks while its sitting in your drive way and swap em out. Pry bar needed.

Great example of "you get what you pay for."

High quality shocks, great ride and a noticeable increase in rear articulation over stock. The price point is a bit higher than other comparable aftermarket shocks, and nearly double factory replacement units, but it's worth digging a little deeper into your wallet. Great improvement in on-road manners and control when the road gets rough. Want to make your pickup ride better than stock? Want to increase overall rear travel and articulation for a more competent rig off road? Fox 2.0 is the way to go.

    Great Item

So far this item is most definitely worth the money. Haven't had the product installed for very long, but my only real question is how many miles it will last before needing replacement. I recommend replacing these at the same time you do a rear brake job, as it's much easier to work in the space with the brakes out of the way.

    Best shocks out there!!!!

So I picked these up to help settle down the rear of my F150 when going over bumps and because one of my oem shocks where bad. I have to say that the ride is a 1000 times better now. The rear end stays planted when driving there is very minimal if any dancing of the rear end when the roads get bumpy. I would recommend this shock to anyone looking for a great improvement over stock.

    Must have if you've got a 15 F150

With the stock rear shocks the rear of the truck would jump all over the road if you hit any sort of abnormality in the road when going around a corner. Once I installed these Fox 2.0's the handling and ride has been so much better. No more rear end hop when hitting bumps or anything now. You wont be disappointed with these!
