Hey, guys. Adam here with americantrucks.com and today we're taking a quick look at and installing Weathertech's Alloy Hard Top Tri-Folding Tonneau Cover fitting all '04 newer Styleside F-150s. You should be checking this out for your own F-150 if you're looking for one of the most premium Tri-Fold Tonneau covers on the market. If you're shopping around, there are tons and tons and tons of tonneau covers to choose from. Soft roll, hard roll, fold up, tri-fold, quad-fold, so on and so forth. If you're looking for that hard top tri-fold tonneau cover, this is honestly, in my opinion, the way to go. It comes in with a slightly more premium price tag at the top end of the category, but for a very, very good reason. Let me explain. This particular one being a hard top is made from an aluminum alloy specific to Wethertech's materials. They are made to withstand up to 400 pounds of evenly distributed weight on top while only weighing in at about 50 pounds for a really strong strength to weight ratio. That aluminum alloy is making sure not a single element reaches inside of the bed while also having a lip on over top of the bed liners on each side and over top of the tailgate with a weatherstripping seal rather all the way around the edges, making sure there's no water, ice, snow, any of that nonsense getting in the bed, damaging your cargo. All of that is thanks to Weathertech's patented Autolatch II system, which essentially makes things latch on each side at the tailgate and then toward the middle of the tonneau cover, for a safe and secure system. Those have a nylon rope going all the way across. You pull the cord, it unlatches from the tailgate, folds back once, folds back a second time, and of course, you can pull another rope and detach the entire tonneau cover. It also has a secondary fail-safe system. If you do want to drive with the tonneau cover rolled all the way back, there's a carabiner on a nylon rope that you can hook around the tonneau cover to make sure it is safe and secure. Built into the tonneau cover's frames are channels that make sure that this never needs to be adjusted. There's no tensioner that you need to adjust. Right out of the box, it makes sure it is completely aligned and each panel folds perfectly each and every time from start to finish. This, in my opinion, is one of the better tonneau covers on the market, especially with that low profile design. It's extremely secure. It's extremely durable, it's easy to use, and it seals that truck up very nice and tight. You cannot access this bed if this is closed and your tailgate is shut and locked. All of that's built-in with the locking system. This whole thing comes in right around 1000 bucks. The install is gonna get an easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, although I will say it is a lot easier with a helping hand. If you have a friend nearby, they can hold up some of those rails while you bolt them down, and because this tonneau cover's about 50 pounds, which in my opinion isn't too bad, it actually just increases the quality as you'll feel once you get this thing in your hands. Having a helping hand on deck will make it just a lot easier to get installed, although you can tackle it yourself. Without further ado, I want to show you guys how it gets done. Let's get to it. Tools used in this install include an impact gun or a ratchet, 13-millimeter deep socket, 11-millimeter deep socket. The first step of the install here is to take your two-piece side bed rails and bolt them together. Now, this smaller portion is going to go towards the bulkhead under the windshield and has this loosened bolt right out of the box. We're gonna go ahead and take that lock nut off. This is gonna slot through here and they're gonna bolt together. Once we have that taken care of, we'll be able to do the same thing for the other side bed rail and then start installing them with our clamps. So grab an 11-millimeter socket and tighten this down. All right, grab your other one, do the same thing. Now the next step is to take our driver's side bed rail, both attached and seat it up against the side of our truck bed. Seating this here, it's gonna sit flush with the top, while this end is against our bulkhead. Now we have four clamps as you see laid out on the top here. Those are about where we're going to put them position-wise. Of course, they're gonna go down here to clamp them to the bed itself. Grab a 13-millimeter socket to tighten those down. You want to make sure you're opening up the clamp enough to get around the plastic piece of your bed as well as the bed rail. All right, once you have all four clamps on your driver's side, of course, repeat this whole process for the passenger and then we'll move forward. All right, so the next step here is to grab your tonneau cover all folded up. You want to make sure that your bungee cords are latched, connecting the two pieces together. You're gonna be putting this hook underneath of the end latch on the bed rail we just installed that's up against the bulkhead. That will go right underneath of that latch. The opposite end here in the middle will latch into the connectors toward the middle of those bed rails. So first things first, we're gonna get this whole thing up, lay it on top across the bulkhead, and get that underneath of the connector. Once those are latched in, you'll see this is locked into position. Release the bungee cords that are connecting the two pieces from unfolding, and you can fold this back. This latch will go underneath of the hook on your bed rail. One more time, all the way back to the tailgate. Push your latch in position. Make sure everything's lined up properly, close your tailgate to test, and you'll be good to go. The last step that you can do here now that everything is installed and you're good to go, there is a nylon rope here with a carabiner at the end of it and an open hook. That's for security. This last piece does not go up, so you just want to latch this into place just for a little bit of added security so this won't fly up. Do the same thing on the other side. Well, guys, that's gonna wrap up my review and install of the Weathertech Alloycover Hard Folding Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover available for the '04 to newer Styleside F-150s.
