Simple installation for anyone.
So, if you own a 2015 to 2018 SuperCab or SuperCrew F-150 and you're looking for one of the most affordable hinged and fully enclosed tonneau covers, then the Undercover SE hinged tonneau cover should be at the top of your list for a few reasons. At around the $850 price point, again, this is a lot less expensive than some of the other options available. It's still really high-quality. It's built really well, and it's got a lot of features actually that I normally wouldn't expect in a tonneau cover. For starters, it is obviously a fully locking tonneau cover. So if you got any sensitive items in here, you can keep them away from prying eyes and hands. Second, even though it fully encloses the bed itself, it still has some nice weatherstripping underneath. So if somehow water or mud flies up in there, you don't gotta worry about the stuff inside the bed getting all nasty. Other than that, it's actually built really well in terms of the cover itself. It's made out of a nice, really thick vacuum-form plastic. It's got a nice black textured glossy finish on here. It's not just a bare, primed, unpainted finish I'm happy to say. And overall, the functionality of it is pretty nice because it has some struts in there make it easy to pull it and close it.A couple other cool features to point out. There's actually a little self-enclosed light in there. No wiring is needed. It is battery-powered. However, it is a pretty bright LED. So that's a nice little touch, especially if you're working in here at night. Other things to consider. You can actually disconnect the struts with no tools required and you can actually remove the tonneau cover entirely, again, with no tools necessary if you ever wanna remove it. They even throw in some hooks that you can install in the garage or shed and you can hang this thing up out of the way if you ever need to remove it temporarily.Again, the install is very straightforward on this. You literally only need a socket and a measuring tape. It shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to get it installed. So for that reason, I'm gonna give the install a pretty straightforward one out of three wrenches on my patented difficulty meter. So again, if you want one of the most affordable and still really well-built tonneau covers, go ahead and stick around. I'm gonna show you guys exactly what tools you need to get this done and I'll show you the install step by step.To install your tonneau cover, you'll need the following tools, a standard drive ratchet, a half-inch socket, and a measuring tape. So the first step of our install is pretty easy. We gotta get these rear brackets in place. Very important that you make sure you measure exactly how far these need to go from the front of the bed itself. In the case of a 5 1/2 foot bed, that's 39 1/2 inches exactly. Now, once you get this in place, you're gonna need a half-inch socket and a ratchet. Obviously, to measure, you're gonna want a measuring tape.Once you get the bracket in place on the bed itself, you're gonna grab one of the brackets. You're gonna remove the bolt as well as the two washers. Go ahead and get the bracket behind here so it's clipping the bracket to the bed rail itself. You want the larger tooth end of the bracket facing up towards the top of it. Once you get both of these tightened down, you're gonna do the same thing for the other side. All right. Once you got both rear brackets in place, it's the same exact process for both of the front brackets. They are marked accordingly, driver's side and passenger side. So again, you'll need your half-inch socket, a measuring tape, and two of the clamps in the kit. Now, in this case, you wanna measure from the front of the bed all the way to the rear of the bracket and in the case of 5 1/2 foot bed, you're gonna need to measure exactly 16 1/2 inches. All right. Now we have all of our brackets installed. We can throw our tonneau cover in place. If you look on the bottom of the tonneau cover, you'll see on the hinges, there are two slots. Those slots are gonna line up with the posts on the front brackets here. Once you got all four lined up, you're just gonna push the tonneau cover towards the cab itself. That's gonna lock it in place, no tools are needed. Once you've done that, simply lift the tonneau cover itself up and you'll see on the bottom of the tonneau cover, again, there's a threaded stud there with a knob. You're gonna line that up with the threaded hole on either bracket. Go ahead and tighten that down then you can install the struts. All right. So once you got the struts installed, that should wrap up the initial install. If you need to make any final adjustments, all you gotta do is loosen the front brackets and move them forwards or backwards. Go ahead and double check that you can close the tonneau cover with the tailgate up and make sure you can actually turn the locking mechanism and you should be good to go.In terms of functionality of the locking mechanism, it's pretty straightforward. You got these little bars up here. Those actually lock in and out on the metal tabs right here. So that's a good thing to keep an eye on as you're double-checking your fitment.A couple other little cool things to point out here. You got this little strap. You can pull this up and down so you're not fighting the struts. And you got a nice little LED light up here with some batteries in it in case you're working in here at night, so lots of cool little features in here. So other than that, that wraps up my review of the Undercover SE hinged tonneau cover, fitting your 2015 to 2018 F-150. I'm Travis. Any idea if a DualLiner bedliner will interfere with the bracket installation on the side rails?
If the bedliner is an over the rail bedliner it will interfere with this cover. Also, the front lip of the bedliner might have to be removed for a better seal.
