Simple installation for anyone.
Hey, guys. Joe from AmericanTrucks. And today we're gonna be working with the Truxedo TruXport Soft Roll-up Tonneau Cover, fitting all '14 to '18 Silverado and Sierra 1500s. Now this is gonna be the perfect option for any Silverado owner or Sierra owner out there that's looking for a high quality, easy to install and most importantly, once it's installed on your truck, easy to use tonneau cover. This is made out of a heavy-duty black vinyl and features a nice grain finish. It sits really low profile to the truck and really makes the tonneau cover look nice and sleek. As far as fastening goes, we have Velcro down the side, it's integrated into the tonneau cover and rail and at the back here we have the snap clip fastening system. I'm gonna show you a little bit more about how this works in depth in just a second here, but basically the idea is you get a nice lever arm that creates the tension in the tonneau cover and it's great to get that leverage if you're in cold weather, you're not gonna be fighting against any snaps or buttons which can be a real pain in the butt to get once this has shrunken down a little bit. And simply put, this is one of the best designs in my opinion for tonneau covers available right now. Now the only problem that I have with this one is just inherent to the vinyl design. It doesn't offer you the best in security. The only thing that's going to stop me, someone who wants to get into the bed of your truck and what's in there is going to be that vinyl and it only takes a pocket knife to get through there. So if you plan on carrying anything of value regularly in the bed of your truck, check out some of our hinge options or hard tri-fold tonneau covers, those are gonna offer you a little bit more security, however, they are gonna come at a little bit more of an expensive price. Pricing for this, however, is gonna come in right around that $300 mark and that makes it one of the most cost-effective Truxedos we have on the website. So you get that build quality of a name brand, you get that design of a name brand. Like I said, this is one of my favorite designs, really easy to use and roll up. Also, Truxedo backs this with a five-year limited warranty. Install for this is going to be extremely easy, we're definitely looking at a one out of three here, no modifications required to your truck, no drilling, nothing like that. Should be able to get this installed in about 30 minutes with some basic hand tools. So without any further ado, let me show you what tools you will need and how it's done. The only tools you'll need for this install are going to be an impact or ratchet, 13-millimeter socket, and a knife or a pair of scissors just to trim up some extra weatherstripping. So the very first step for our install here, we're going to need to apply this bulkhead seal. So we're gonna unroll the foam and then peel back the adhesive backing and put this in place right along our back window. Truxedo does give you a little bit extra, so before I put this all the way down, I'm just gonna cut that end off. Truxedo also gives you these corners seals which go underneath the corner of each rail right about here. We're gonna do the same thing for the other side. So now we're gonna take this part right here, this is the combination between this bulkhead bar and the tonneau cover itself. We're gonna rest this on the bulkhead and get the side rails installed. Now we're gonna do the same thing for the driver side, they give you a little bit of extra weatherstrip here as well, so we're just gonna push that down and drop this in place. Now these are marked with a passenger and D right here on the plastic corner. Now we're gonna take our clamps, spread them evenly along the rails and tighten them down using a 13-millimeter socket. There should be three clamps for each rail. Now as you're tightening these down, one thing you do want to make sure of is there's teeth on the foot of this clamp here, you want to make sure they mesh up with the teeth on the rail itself. So now our tonneau cover is completely built on the truck, we're just gonna unroll it and make sure everything lines up then I'll show you how to get the back seated and tighten down. Before we tighten this down, good idea to apply those last two seals to the rear corners here as well. Now they make this extremely easy and quick to tighten down. Again, no snaps down the length of this, so this is really fast. All we're going to do is make sure this lip here catches this lip on the side rail and we're gonna push it in place. If you do need some adjustment, there's a nut at the back here that allows you adjust the tension in that spring. Now we're just gonna get the other side started and do the same thing. So now our install is completely done, but before we wrap up here, I said this thing was fast, so I'm gonna give you a full speed demonstration of how quickly I can get this completely folded up and folded back out and I'm gonna walk you through the steps as I go. So first step here, obviously drop the tailgate then there's a little latch in here to release, we're gonna have to do that on both sides. And that pops that tailgate bar out and that's going to allow us to start rolling this up. I'm just gonna get that as tight to the glass as I can, reason being this strap here allows you to secure it, just give it a pull, reach around back and hit that loop. We're gonna do the same thing for the other side. So now we have this completely tucked up to the rear windshield here, we're just gonna unroll it to show you how fast that goes and I'll talk you through the same steps. So we're going to start by unhooking the straps here that hold it in place. Same thing for the other side. Now we're just gonna unroll it and as we do, you want to make sure these crossbars here are seated in between the rails. Now once we get to this point, you want to make sure this lip is seated in that lip. Again, if you do need any adjustment, you have that nut on the backside of that spring to get that dialed in just right. But this is the part I like so much about this one is even on a cold day when this is nice and shrunk and as small as it's gonna get, it gives you this bar here. All you have to do is put some tension and it basically works like a lever for that to lock in place. Now there's one more thing I like to do to ensure the seal here, is just stretch this Velcro out and then run my hand down the whole thing to make sure it's nice and tight. I'm gonna do the same thing for the other side as well. And that is gonna do it for my review and install of the Truxedo TruXport Soft Roll-up Tonneau Cover, fitting all '14 to '18 Silverado and Sierra 1500s. Thank you for watching. I'm Joe.
