Hey, guys, it's Sara with americantrucks.com and today we have a review and install of the HDX Drop Side Step Bars in textured black, fitting your '19 and newer Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. This is perfect for the Silverado owner who's looking for a drop step with black styling that hugs the rocker panel of their truck, giving it that streamlined look. These side steps make getting in and out of your truck a breeze, especially if it's lifted or leveled like ours. And as an added bonus, gives you a bit of added protection for your rocker panel. These steps' one-piece construction hugs the pinch weld area of your truck, giving it that finished, streamlined look, and you still get the convenience of a step. These steps feature steel construction with a nice black powder coat finish, and the drop steps feature stamped steel step pads that are removable. So as far as price goes, these steps come in at around $625 for the pair, putting them about middle of the road price-wise when compared to other options. And for your money you are getting the durability of this steel step with the sleek appearance of its black finish, and the convenience of a step.I'm giving this install a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a direct bolt-up installation that can be done within one hour. So with that said, let's jump right in our install. For this install you will need a ratchet and a 13-millimeter socket. You may also want a small extension. All right, so the first step in our install is to get our brackets bolted up underneath the truck. Now you wanna make sure you're grabbing the proper bracket for the side of the truck we're on and the proper position: front, center, and rear. So we're starting at the passenger front, we're grabbing the bracket labeled F, we're gonna get it bolted up underneath the truck. All right, so the frontmost mounting position on the passenger side there'll be two threaded holes in the body. You may have rubber plugs over top of them here. If you do, just remove those now. And line up your bracket. Now it may be hard to see once the bracket's in place, but what we're gonna do is grab our longer hardware with a washer and a lock washer and go ahead and thread it into both of the holes on the body. Then grab your 13-millimeter socket and ratchet and tighten them down. All right, next up is the centermost mounting point, the same two threaded holes in the body. And you're grabbing the bracket labeled PC, passenger center. So go ahead and line it up on the truck. Grab your bolt with a washer and lock washer. Again, these are the longer ones. There should be two different style bolts. Go ahead and thread it into both of the holes in the body. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten it down. All right, I'm moving onto the rearmost mounting point, this one's labeled with an R. Go ahead and line up the bracket to the two threaded holes in the body. You might be able to see a little better with this angle. And again, make sure you are using a washer and a lock washer on these. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten it down. All right, so at this point we can set our step onto our brackets. Now the brackets go in these recessed holes. There should be three on your step. You'll see two threaded holes inside these recessed squares here. There's one at the front, the center one's right here, and the rear one's a little farther back. So what you're gonna do is line up your step onto the brackets. Line up each bracket with each of the holes in the step. And starting with it angled up, slide it into place. Line up your step with the bracket. With it in place, go ahead and install the shorter hardware with a washer and lock washer. Now you can use a socket and extension if you don't have hands small enough to go in there. You can grab a socket and a 13-millimeter extension and use that to install your bolt. Once your bolts are installed, grab your 13-millimeter socket and your ratchet and tighten them down. All right, go ahead and move onto your middlemost mounting point. Grab your hardware and thread it into your step. Now if for some reason this bracket does not line up, you can loosen the two bolts just a little bit that you installed before so that you have a bit more movement in your bracket. Once both of your bolts are installed, you can grab your ratchet with your 13-millimeter socket and you may want a small extension, and tighten them down. Repeat that with the rearmost mounting point. Grab your smaller hardware with lock washer and lock washer. Once they're installed, grab your 13-millimeter socket and you may want a small extension and get them installed. All right, so that is gonna do it for the review and install of these side steps. And remember, for all things Silverado, keep it at americantrucks.com.
