Hey, everybody, I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com, and welcome to my detailed overview and install of the K&N Series 57 FIPK Cold Air, available for your 2015 and newer 5-liter powered F150. So, 5-liter truck owners out there, you should be checking out the Series 57 FIPK from K&N if you're looking for a no-nonsense, barebones intake system that's made by one of the most trusted names in filtration. Now, this is also gonna be a 50-state legal system. It is CARB-certified, so just about everybody can take advantage of some of the benefits here. And the best part is, is this is a no tune required intake, so you can use it with or without a tune of your choice. So if you've never heard of K&N before, first step, remove yourself from the rock you've been living under for the last decade or two, and educate yourselves, right? Because K&N is no doubt one of the biggest names in the automotive industry that continue to be a top choice here on the site for both the Mustang and F150 alike, and make some pretty solid stuff for very reasonable prices. Now, the Series 57 FIPK is short for fuel injection performance kit, and it's without a doubt one of K&N's most popular options in their rather vast lineup for, again, both the Mustang and truck alike. The best part is, guys, this thing's affordable. It is 50-state legal, so guys out in tough states like California can take advantage of some of the power and sound benefits without getting hassled by the man. And again, you can use this with or without a tune. But let's talk some gains here with the Series 57 Cold Air from K&N, and they're actually claiming K&N that is 12 horsepower, 9-pound feet of torque at the rear wheels, which honestly, in my opinion, is probably one of the most honest manufacturer claims I've ever heard. A lot of times, guys will inflate numbers from a cold air intake without a tune, and honestly, we've all seen it. It's just not realistic. This on the other hand is. My expectation with the cold air without a tune, high single digits, low double digits, is gonna be your best case scenario, and that is what K&N is claiming here with their very affordable kit. And the reason why you're not seeing these huge gains is pretty simple, guys. Ford did a great job when designing the factory air box with the newer trucks here. So, yes, bolting up a non-tune required intake like this will deliver some smaller gains, don't expect to set the world on fire. However, you are gonna see some other benefits that a lot of our customers have pointed out in the review section. For instance, a lot of guys have pointed out improved throttle response. Other customers have actually pointed out improved miles per gallon. These are things that are coming from our customers. These guys have bought the product, installed the product, reviewed the product. So check out the customer reviews on the product page if you haven't done so already. They're gonna give you some real world feedback. So as you can see, power benefits are just simply one piece of the puzzle when checking out an intake like this. Another cool benefit? This is an exposed element filter. It's not a sealed air box. And what that's gonna do for you is just give you a bunch of awesome noises coming from underneath the hood from your 5-liter engine. You're definitely gonna hear more of a growl when accelerating hard, and in my opinion, it makes a perfect complement to the exhaust of your choice. So we got power, we got sound, we got better throttle response, even in some cases, some better miles per gallon. What else are you getting with this kit? Well, we have the bread and butter K&N high-flow filter, guys. This is what they built the brand on, so this is definitely one of the highlights, in my opinion. You're getting the couple layers of cotton gauze material here sandwiched between the aluminum skeleton. It's been epoxy-coated and it has been finished off in K&N's special sauce, their red oil, making this thing an oiled filter. Obviously, this filter is washable. It is reusable. It's gonna save you some dough in the long run because every time you toss out one of those paper factory filters every 10,000 miles or less. Not the case here with K&N. In fact, they say you can reuse this thing up to 100,000 miles before you have to toss it and get a new one. So, very cool, worth pointing out for sure.In addition to the filter, you're also receiving the black plastic intake tube, and I like this because it's simple. It's understated. It's all business. No flashy chrome or logos all over the place, just a simple intake and it looks really nice under the hood. It's gonna be used in conjunction with the upper portion of the air box, which K&N includes here. And this is something that I really like because it actually incorporates the lower portion of the factory air box which still maintains all that fresh cool air ducting. So you're still gonna be pulling all that fresh air from the front of the truck, dumping it onto the high-flow K&N filter. You're getting the best of both worlds. Now, guys, if you did want something with a little bit more flash, check out K&N's Series 77 instead. It does feature a polished aluminum tube in place of the black plastic for those owners out there who prefer a little bit more flash. Another good thing with keeping things simple here with the Series 57 is the fact that it helps keep the price down as well. In fact, you're looking at just south of 300 bucks to get your hands on one of these guys, which makes it one of the most affordable currently on the site for your newer 5-liter powered truck. Now, companies like AIRAID, Injen, all those guys, they make a solid product but all of their intakes are gonna be 300, even 400 bucks. Not the case here with the K&N. One thing I always like pointing out with cold air intakes like this is that if you're not a big wrencher and maybe this is one of your first modifications you're doing, a cold air is a great place to start because, honestly, there's not a whole lot you can mess up. So I'm sticking with one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. We call it an hour on the site from start to finish, but 30 minutes I feel is more realistic. One of the other good things about this, you really need a basic tool set: Screw drivers, including a flat head, and a Philips head, an 8 and 10-millimeter socket. And one thing that you will need that you might not have laying around the garage now is a set of Torx bits. That's just gonna help you remove the factory mass air flow sensor and transfer it over to the K&N. Other than that, guys, basic stuff here. Removing the factory intake in the upper portion of the air box can be done using those basic hand tools. Simply install the K&N in reverse order and you should be good to go. Wrapping up the Series 57 FIPK from K&N, guys, here's what you can expect. If you're looking for an aftermarket cold air for that newer 5-liter powered truck but you don't need the most expensive thing out there, this is pretty much gonna do it for you right here, guys. It's a great intake, it's built well, it's gonna look good under the hood. Give you a little bit more power, a little bit more sound, and the best part yet, it's 50-state legal. So, that is my review of the K&N Series 57, which you can grab right here at americanmuscle.com.

It's designed to bring more cold oxygen-rich air straight to the engine to get your vehicle operating at a higher intensity. This kit comes with a custom filter, intake pipe and heat shield to allow air to flow more easily to your vehicle's engine.

Without Computer Tune. There's no tune up required to make the most of this intake kit. It's designed to install quickly and without any unnecessary steps. Once you put it on the truck will have more power to offer, but it will still run the way it's supposed to. That's the power of this K&N Series 57 FIPK cold air intake kit.

Long Term Filtering. One of the worst things you can do to your vehicle is let harmful debris get into the engine and other interior components. That's why a powerful air filter is important. This intake kit comes with a top grade filter that actually takes harmful compounds out while also letting air flow freely. The unit uses oiled cotton to capture particles and has aluminum mesh on the outside to help pre-screen the air.The filter is also washable and can be reused over and over again. Overall it's fast-flowing and highly capable.

Insulating and Durable. A good air intake needs to insulate against hot air, while holding up over time. This K&N Series 57 FIPK cold air intake uses tough polyethylene plastic for the intake tube as well as the heat shield. The plastic is insulated and durable. It also uses epoxy coated aluminum for a durable filter and stainless steel fasteners for a secure hold.

The One Hour Install. Most people can install this set in an hour or less without issue. That's because it's incredibly simple to put into place. With this intake you can easily lock it into position with the included bolts and you don't have to complete a special procedure to finish the installation.

Smog Legal. The best part of this intake compared to many others is that it's legal in all 50 states. It's certified by CARB with number D-269-46 so you can use it with confidence.

Application. This K&N 57 Series FIPK Cold Air Intake Kit is specifically designed to fit the 2015 to 2017 F-150s equipped with the 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, including the King Ranch, Lariat, Platinum, XL and XLT models.

Technical Note. The K&N Cold Air Intake is not designed for vehicles equipped with a Body Lift.
