Are there any filters or parts in this that need replacing over time or just cleaning? I am assuming the lower bowl that needs removed with the 4 screws has a gasket and is that durable to not need replacing over time? Lastly, how much oil will this hold?

    AlanC

OK, so if you have to remove this to empty it, how does that work? I see (4) bolts to remove, is that how? Also, how do you know when it needs emptied? Thanks........

    AlanC

    • This Ford Performance Oil-Air Separator can be emptied by removing the four screws that hold the bottom portion on the separator. It is generally recommended to empty the separator every oil change.

Will this work on a 2011 f150 if I have the boss manifold instead of the factory manifold? Thanks.

hi, even though you say its fits my 2015 F150 5.0, its been known not to because of the AC lines in the way on the 15's- up and it does NOT fit. Before I buy I have to be sure it fits. Thanks, Frank

    I Have a 2013 FX4, 5L (NO ecoboost). Do I need an oil separator?

    harve

    • An oil separator would be a great modification for any engine as it will reduce the amount of oil burned during combustion by capturing oil when the PCV opens. They are highly recommended for applications seeking to make more power and run more efficiently. This Ford Performance Oil-Air Separator is not required for your 5.0L however, it would be helpful modification in making your vehicle run more efficiently.

      Fantastic

I bought this after I noticed oil in my throttle body. I cleaned it up and installed the oil-air separator. So far, so good. I've run a few hundred miles and it's still dry. The installation is straight forward and with quite a bit of automotive experience, it only took me about 5 minutes. This product is awesome!!!

      Ford performance oil separator

Works great so far. I had previously purchased another brand and and was not impressed with the cumbersome rubber hoses that became discolored and kept popping the pvc valve out of the valve cover on my truck. This part fits perfect with the fitted factory style hoses and mounts onto the front valve cover bolts to keep it secured.

      Great fit and finish BUT...

Bought this for my '14 F150 5.0, fit and finish was perfect. Snapped right into place no problem. No tools. Blends in and looks like it's a factory piece. My only complaint is the instructions suggest you drain it by disconnecting the lower hose (FROM PCV side), while the JLT oil separator reservoir unscrews, allowing for easier draining. Bought it because it said "Ford Performance."

      OEM fit

I have used the same air/oil separator on my Mustang GT for awhile now and it has done a good job of keeping the intake/TB clean. I usually collect a couple fluid ounces every few thousand miles. Last year, I installed a GT350 intake kit on my Mustang and all my old parts still looked very clean and dry, so I think these separators do their job well enough. When I bough a new 2017 F150 with a 5.0, I purchased another separator because of the good luck I have had on my Mustang. This setup snaps right into the passenger side valve cover and into the intake manifold. The box does rub up against an AC line, but it does not put a huge bearing on the fixture to where I think it will be problematic. The hoses and clips for the canister are all OEM quality and don't put any stress on the PCV fittings. It may just be a placebo effect, but I have noticed in both cases with these separators that the engine runs noticeably smoother immediately after installation. On my first trip out with the new separator on the truck, I saw around 26 MPG on the highway that runs through the Jack Daniel's factory/muesuem in Tennessee. After a couple of miles, the vacuum lines should seal up tightly to their fittings. However, keep an eye out for one of the O-Rings to become loose in the vacuum line after a few drains. This has happened to me on my Mustang but the system still seals up well enough.
