- How to Install Roush Cold Air Intake on your F-150
Features, Description, Reviews, Q&A, Specs & Installation
CAI Provides Ample, Energizing Air. The Roush Performance Cold Air Intake is made from tough but lightweight materials and fits easily into your 2011-2014 F-150’s engine, bringing a healthy dose of additional torque and horsepower along for the ride. Generating a deep indraft that sucks large volumes of cold air into the combustion system, this CAI cranks out roughly +10 horsepower and a similar amount of torque from your vehicle’s 5.0L engine. It also makes your engine work better, burn fuel more thoroughly (leading to economy gains of +1-2 mpg), and makes the throttle more responsive.
Works with No Aftermarket Tune. You can install the Roush Cold Air Intake and leave the tune that’s already on your F-150’s ECU undisturbed. This intake is designed to run at full power without the need for additional aftermarket tuning.
Air Filter Can Be Cleaned, Reused. The included Oiled Air Filter in your Roush Cold Air Intake is made from high-flow filter media that cleanse the air thoroughly of contaminants while letting plenty of it in. This synthetic filter is oiled – it can be washed, dried, and reused after you re-oil it properly. The filter is made to stand up to multiple reuses, with internal wire mesh buttressing, and will usually last for years.
Computer-Assisted Exactitude in Manufacture. The Roush Cold Air Intake is made 100% in the United States from start (design) to finish (actual production). The construction is carried out using OEM CAD data to ensure a very good precision fit in place of the stock intake. The heat shield and intake tube are both made from a hardy formula of injection-molded plastic, with a black color, textured surface, and molded in Roush logo for extra style. The component is supplied with a red filter element made from synthetic fabric.
Housing for 85mm OE MAF. The Roush Cold Air Intake is made to accommodate the stock 85mm MAF. It also includes attachments for the necessary hoses, etc. which transfer over from the OE intake.
Bolt-On Attachment. Even a novice F-150 tinkerer can upgrade their pickup truck in 60 minutes or less with the plain bolt-on installation of the Roush Cold Air Intake. No-drill, no-cut installation is the order of the day, with the part bolting on with its own supplied hardware on the OE mounting points.
Warranty for 90 Days. The Roush company covers this Cold Air Intake with its standard 90-day warranty, limited, versus defects.
50-State CARB Legal. This Roush Cold Air Intake has an executive order number for CARB exemption – CARB EO Number #D-418-30 – and can therefore be shipped to California and other CARB states or municipalities. The part is 50-state legal in the United States. You should make sure that the CARB sticker can be seen after installation, however, in order to ensure a hassle-free emissions inspection.
Application. This Roush Performance Cold Air Intake is specifically designed to fit the 2011-2014 F-150s equipped with the 5.0L V8 engine. No computer retuning required for operation.

Looks Awesome just doesn’t perform well !
Looks awesome and fits great the 1 of two is that it makes a real annoying loud ratting sound when your on the gas good , 2nd issue is the digital mpg is like a tachometer moves pretty much and averages around 12.6 mpg . Says you should get better mpg but I don’t .Helpful (0)

Good and bad
I like it. Did it with the rough exhaust. Installed exhaust first and drove it for a few days. Then installed the intake. It definitely improves throttle response a bit. The only down side I can say it is really loud at wide open throttle If the trans doesn’t kick down a gear or 2. Other than that I think it’s a well made easy to install product.Helpful (0)

Soon as I took it out the box I was pleased with how nice it looks, as well as how easily it fit in the factory box. Definitely noticed better throttle response and I'm always reminded there's a coyote under the hood with how much more throaty it is. I'm getting between 17 and 18 in the city, granted I'm not heavy footed. SUPER pleased with this and I recommend it for anyone who wants to start with a simple upgrade for their F-150.Helpful (0)

Absolutely love this intake!! I have it paired with the BBK 85mm throttle body and the difference is insane! Throttle response is instant, insane and you feel it right Away! I highly recommend this to anyone! It is LOUD!! I personally love the loudness and aggressive tone it makes! Easy acceleration has a nice growl and if you stomp on it, it ROARS! If I can, I’ll upload a video clip. Install was simple and easy, everything came with the product! Again, I recommend this to anyone!Helpful (3)
Per the description, the filter is a non-oil dry filter. I checked the actual Roush web-site and the descriptions says oiled filter. Is this a mis-print here or can you get either and oiled or non-oiled? Would prefer the non-oiled and will buy immediately if so.
The Roush Cold Air Intake has an oiled filter.
I have this intake on my 2013 F-150 and I love it but I’m looking to tune my truck here pretty soon. Will this work okay with the SCT SF4/X4 flash tuner?
This cold air intake can be paired with an aftermarket tuner as long as the intake is mentioned before the tune is written for your vehicle. Most tuners available on our website can be paired with that Roush Cold Air Intake including SCT.
What type of oil filter cleaner Roush recommends? Also how much filter oil should be applied to filter?
I have a 2012 F150 with a roush CAI and i just need to replace the filter. The current one has bends and punctures in it from previous owner. I am looking and dont know where to find just the filter itself. Also, what is the size of the filter opening. Thanks!
This uses Roush filter 997-466.
Is a throttle body spacer needed for the 2012 5.0?
There is NO Computer Tune Required, however we do recommend one for optimal performance. It is also possible that you will get a check engine light without a tune.
This intake will perform well with any of the tuners we offer, but for the best power gains we recommend a tuner from SCT, or Superchips.
Unfortunately we do not currently offer the filter separately. We recommend reaching out to the manufacturer directly.
K&N filters are rated to filter out particles up to 10 microns. At this time we do not have a rating for the OEM filter.
This intake will work yes.
The filter that is included with this kit is an oiled filter, so it would have to be cleaned and re-oiled.
No, an open CAI will not be a risk for to much water in the engine.
The Roush Cold Air Intake will work with the Boss 302 manifold set up yes.
The Roush Cold Air Intake will work with any size suspension lift, however a body lift will throw off this or any other cold air, as the body will move relative to the engine and chassis, and all of our cold air intakes are designed for the stock angles and distances.
