Hey, guys. Adam here with americantrucks.com and today we're looking at the Barricade S6 Running Boards in black available for the '09 to '14 SuperCab F-150 but they are also available for different cab lengths. You should be checking these out if you're looking for a safe and secure way to hop in and out of your truck with a stealthy sidestep here or running board that hugs the body of the vehicle. Now there's a number of different styles in the category for sidesteps including sidesteps, nerf bars, running boards, drop steps, so on and so forth. Running boards are the design that hugs the body of the vehicle and runs the cab length of the truck. Now as you can see, this is all one long bar here with individual stepping pads under the doors. Now the S6 design from Barricade should appeal to the guys looking for one of the larger stepping pads in the category. These are 6-inch-wide stepping pads for a pretty big surface area for your foot. Some of the other options out there range from 3-inch stepping pads up to 6-inch with this being one of the larger ones and personally, I like the larger ones. You want more of a surface area to grip onto. It's harder to miss and it's definitely super grippy. For example, the factory sidesteps that come on the F-150, if your truck did come with them, are typically around 3 inches so you're doubling the factory sidestep stepping pad width. Now this guy is a mild steel construction so it's pretty durable and it's also got a black powder coated textured finish to it to help with corrosion and rust resistance but to also give it a nice stealthy appearance on the side profile here. Now it uses pretty sturdy brackets underneath that are slotted so you get to slide it into the exact position that you want it. So if you want it a little bit further back, you can adjust that to make it happen. The stepping pads themselves are a nice ABS plastic and they've got raised grooves along with a ton of these little ridged knobs here. Sort of like cleats for the bottom of shoes. These are gonna give you a nice grippy stepping pad here no matter the weather. So rain, snow, sleet or hail, this guy's gonna be super grippy for your shoe or boot. Now for guys looking for something that isn't as stealthy, there are other polished options in the category and if you're looking for something that comes down a lot lower, drop steps I'd definitely recommend or sidesteps even come down a little bit further as well. Now this sidestep comes in right around 375 bucks making it a relatively affordable option in the category. They can get pretty expensive for sidesteps ranging up to 600, 700 bucks and even over a 1,000 for some of the powered ones. So if you're looking for a basic entry level option that gives you a really sturdy step, this Barricade option's a really good way to go. Now when it comes to the install, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Anybody can tackle this in the driveway at home with some very simple hand tools and about an hour's time from start to finish. And I would say even if you have a little bit more experience with working a wrench, it can even be a lot quicker. There's basically three brackets you're gonna install on each side that go to preexisting holes on the interior wall of your rocker panel so you're just gonna crawl under the truck, bolt them right up, slap your sidestep on and like I said, it's slotted so you can adjust it to where you want it to be. Now I'm gonna take you through every single step of the process here so stick with me. Let's get to it.All right. Tools used in this install include an impact gun, a ratchet, 13-millimeter deep socket and a 13-millimeter wrench. First step here on your driver side, grab your U-nut clips and you're gonna go to the first holes toward the front of the vehicle and you're gonna insert that into the open square so that the threads get right into the hole next to it. All right. Do that both times. One on the left, one on the right. All right. Just make sure those holes are lined up.Next, you wanna grab your bracket. Identify your driver side bracket. You're gonna slide this guy right up into position on the pinch weld so the holes are lined up on the pinch weld and on the body. Take one of your bolts and a large washer. You're gonna thread that into the body holes where you just installed those clips. I'm gonna tighten all those down by hand first. And from here what you wanna do is install your bolts. Now the bolts are gonna go head first going up. Make sure you have a flat washer on the head side, flat washer on the back, split washer followed up with your nylon locknut. Now you don't want the bolt to be facing down because you'll see a stud at the back end here which you really don't wanna see from the exterior of the vehicle. All right, doing the same thing on the other side here. All right, so now you wanna take your ratchet and your 13 socket and you're gonna tighten down those top bolts. All right. Switch over to an impact gun here and I'm gonna put my 13 wrench on the nylon locknut and tighten down the bolt from the bottom. All right. We're gonna repeat this exact process two more times, once in the middle and once toward the truck bed. All right, we're just doing the same exact thing again in the middle of the vehicle. All right, last but not least, we have one right under our rear door that we're gonna work on which is a little bit closer to the bed.All right, next up, we have to install our double bolt plates which will hold the sidesteps to the brackets themselves. So I'm gonna start here in the middle just to hold it on a little bit better. You're gonna take the double bolt plate and you're gonna rotate it into the inside here so it slides. Now with that installed, I'm gonna flip this guy up and line those two bolts up to the holes in the bracket. All right. So that drops into place. So now what you can do is take a flat washer and your nylon locknuts and you're gonna install that on the bottom of the bolt. And for now, I'm just gonna put it on by hand until we like our position. The key here is to make sure the double bolt plate is completely seated inside the sidestep and the sidestep itself is completely covering the new bracket there. All right, so at this point, before you install the rest, slide your sidesteps into the position that you want them to be in. Now you probably want them so that the step itself is directly under that door. All right. So what I like to do is use the edge here as a guide. You can use that edge to line up to the edge of the front of your front door. The rear will sort of line up just about where the crack...where the bed and the cab meet. So now you can take your next double bolt plate, slide it up into position. You wanna try not to move the sidestep at this point since we like the position there. From there you can put your flat washer and your nut on.All right, now before we keep going, I'm gonna grab my impact gun and my 13 socket and I'm gonna tighten these down since we know that we like this position. Lastly, we can do our final bolt plate, dropping into position. Again, you just wanna double-check that your brackets, the double bolt plate, are hooked into the inside edges of your sidestep. All right. Grab your impact gun and tighten them down. All right. You're good to go to repeat this on the other side. That's gonna wrap up my review and install for the Barricade S6 Running Boards available for the '09 to '14 F-150.
