So if you own a '14 to '18 Double Cab or Crew Cab Silverado or Sierra, then you've probably realized that there are plenty of options available to make getting in and out of your cab a little bit easier. Well, the Barricade Saber 5-inch side steps should be at the top of your list if you're looking for the most affordable, one of the widest, and one of the most lightweight side steps currently available.I say that because these are made out of aluminum. And at around the $169 price point, these will be the most affordable option as far as aluminum steps go. Any options that are less expensive than these will be made out of stainless steel or a basic carbon steel with either a painted or a powder-coated finish. Now, aluminum is really nice because they are very lightweight. They are very tough and you don't gotta worry about rust or corrosion. Aluminum is also awesome because it polishes up very nicely. As you can see, these do have a really nice polished finish on them. And again, because you don't gotta worry about rust or corrosion, these things will look good for years to come. That's a huge bonus especially if you live on the east coast or west coast and you put your truck through a bunch of snow, water, or mud. Again, these things will clean right off. You don't gotta worry about any corrosion developing on them. They're also a very simple bolt-on install. There's actually pre-drilled holes inside the cab and the pinch seam so you don't gotta drill any holes. You can get away with installing these without any power tools. You honestly only need a couple of sockets and a hand ratchet. And for that reason, I'm gonna give the install a very simple one out of three wrenches on my difficulty meter. So again, if you want one of the widest side steps currently available made out of aluminum and you wanna get them affordably, check out the Saber steps. And if you pull the trigger on these guys, stick around. I'll show you exactly what tools you need in just a second and then I'll show you how to get these bolted on as well.To install your side steps, you'll need a standard drive ratchet with a 13-millimeter deep socket. Optional tools include an impact swivel and impact gun. All right. So first we have to install these speed clips provided in the kit in the holes where we're gonna secure our brackets. You got one up here and one down here on the pinch seam. All right. Next, you can throw your bracket in place and you're gonna grab two of the 13-millimeter head bolts with one crush washer and one flat washer. Thread those through the holes and then tighten them down with a 13-millimeter socket. All right. So as you saw, it's pretty straightforward. We're gonna go ahead and do the same thing for the other two holes on either side of the truck before we actually move to install the step itself. All right. Now that our brackets are in place, we can throw our step in place, but before you do that, make sure you grab these square head bolts in the kit and put them through the channels underneath the step. You got two of these bolts for each of those brackets so you're gonna need six in total. All right. So go ahead and slide these studs through the brackets themselves and then hand tighten the hardware that's gonna secure them. You don't wanna tighten this down yet. You're gonna need a flat washer. You're also gonna need a crush washer and you're gonna be using those 13-millimeter nuts in the kit.All right. Once you got all this hardware hand tightened, go ahead and make sure your step lines up with the doors. You want the step pads to line up nicely. Then you can tighten down this hardware. You're gonna need that same 13-millimeter socket. So once you got all those nuts tightened down, that'll wrap up the install. That also wraps up my review of the Barricade Saber 5-inch aluminum side steps, fitting your '14 to '18 Double Cab and Crew Cab Silverado and Sierra. I'm Travis.
