So, if you own a '14 to '18 Silverado, and you want to make getting in and out of your cab a little bit easier by picking up the widest steps currently available, you should be checking out the Rattler running boards from Barricade behind me. At 6 1/2 inches, these are currently the widest steps currently available and they are also one of the most affordable steps. They cost a lot less than some of the other smaller options out there. Now, I really like these for a few other reasons on top of that. Number one, the running board itself is made out of lightweight aluminum, and it features a nice black powder coat finish. So, you're never going to have to deal with any issues like rust or corrosion. The hardware that secures the running board to the truck is made out of steel and it is coated as well so you're not going to really have to worry about any rust under there. Furthermore, these do bolt on without any permanent modification or any custom fabrication whatsoever. Safe to say, you can get this done in the driveway with basic hand tools. And for that reason, I'm going to give the install a very easy one out of three wrenches on my patented difficulty meter, shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to an hour. So, if you like the way these steps look, go ahead and stick around, we're going to show you every single step of the install. To install your new running boards, you will need the following tools: a pry bar or a flathead screwdriver, a drive ratchet, 10-millimeter wrench, 10-millimeter deep socket, 13-millimeter socket, and optional but helpful tools include a small extension and an impact gun. So like I said, you can do this install on the driveway. We put our truck on a lift so that we can show you exactly where we're going to working here. It's really easy to start off. You're going to grab a small pry bar or a flathead screwdriver and we're gonna pop out some of the rubber fittings underneath here, it's going to make room for the flips that we need to install. So now that we have those little grommets removed, we're going to fill those holes with the clip nuts provided in the kit. You're gonna put one on the bottom of the pinch weld and one's going to go through the hole where we pulled those grommets out of. All right. Now that those clip nuts are in place, we're going to start installing the mounting brackets for the running boards. It's really straightforward. You're going to grab one of the 14-millimeter head bolts in the kit as well as a crush washer and flat washer. You're going to thread one through each of the fittings on the mounts themselves and through those clip nuts. All right. Now that we have our brackets installed, it's time for us to actually install our running board. A couple ways to go about this, easiest way to do it is to actually set the running board on top of the brackets without the supporting brackets and the studs. Then once you get the running board lined up on the brackets, we're going to slide these in underneath and we're going to tighten them down. All right. Once you've got your running board secured to the mounting brackets and leveled off with the cab, it's time to tighten everything down. To do that, you're going to grab the hardware provided in the kit, talking about one flat washer as well as one of the crush washers and a 10-millimeter nut. So once you've got your driver's side done, it's the same exact process for the passenger side, just putting in those clip nuts, couple of brackets, and you're going to tighten down all those bolts on the running board. That actually wraps up my review and install of Barricade's Rattler running boards fitting your '14 to '18 Silverado. I'm Travis. Thanks for watching. And for all things Silverado, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
