So if you own a '15 to '17 F-150 in any trim minus the Raptor and for whatever reason you are looking for arguably the most affordable upper replacement grille in that nice and simple matte black finish, then you found it. I say that because at around the $200 price point, this is currently one of the most affordable options. I'm also happy to say that this thing is pretty much OEM in terms of fit and finish and every other measure. It's made out of factory grade ABS plastic, it's a direct replacement grille, no cutting or drilling is required. And yes, it does retain the factory emblem, which you can remove from your original grille, swap it over with some basic hand tools. And on that note, actually, the entire install is done with basic hand tools. So for that reason, I'm gonna give it a very simple one out of three wrenches on my patented difficulty meter. This grille does directly bolt up to the factory active shutter system, which you'll see in just a second. So, again, if you want one of the most affordable upper replacement grilles, maybe you wanna go to a blacked out build or maybe your factory grille is just looking a little worse for wear or for whatever reason, go ahead and pull the trigger on this guy. And then come back in just a second, I'll show you what tools you need and then I'll walk you through the entire install step by step. Shouldn't take us more than 30 minutes to an hour, so let's go ahead and get started. All right, to install our grille, you'll need a standard drive ratchet with 8 and 10-millimeter deep sockets. It's also very helpful to have an extension, as well as a trim panel removal tool and some channel locks. Of course, it's always helpful to have a cordless impact if you wanna work fast. All right, guys the first step of our uninstall, we have to remove the radiator cover underneath the hood here. It's a couple of push pins, so we'll need a flat head screwdriver or trim panel removal tool, like me. All right, so now that we have that cover removed, we've exposed the hardware that we have to remove from the grille and you guessed it, more push pins, right? There are four on top. Disclaimer, we remove this stuff a lot so one of ours are broken. However, there are supposed to be four up here that you need to remove, so go ahead and grab your trim panel removal tool. Once you got these removed, I'll show you what bolts we have to pull out on the sides of the grille in order to remove it completely. All right, so with those push pins removed, you can remove the grille itself, like so, it just comes out very easily. Then I'm gonna show you guys how to remove this assembly here. There's a couple of bolts on either side, you'll need an 8-millimeter socket to remove those. As you saw earlier, we removed these plastic push pins here. You don't need to remove this trim piece around the headlights entirely. You just wanna get enough plan now that you can gently peel it aside so you can see the bolts underneath there. All right, next we're gonna remove this entire assembly here. This is held on with those bolts that I just removed earlier, as well as four bolts across the top here. For the top bolts, you'll need a 10-millimeter socket. Once you've done that, make sure you disconnect this wiring harness right here, two little clip connections, just squeeze those with your fingers, pull those free, then you can remove the entire assembly from the truck. All right, so we have our factory grille removed. And even though this is considered a direct replacement, couple of things to point out here. We're getting rid of the textured black finish on here, which has kind of a satin finish on it. This is completely matte black and it's a lot smoother, actually. Personally, I'm a fan of that. I like understated and minimalist stuff. And if you're going for something like a blackout build or you're murdering out your truck and you wanna hit every little detail, this would definitely be a good placement. Now, before we ditch our factory grille here, we wanna remove our emblem. It's pretty straightforward, it's held on with a couple of washers on the back. Those actually are meant to be removed with a 10-millimeter deep socket. All right, we have our emblem in our grille. Before we throw it onto our support assembly here, we have to remove these four studs that are actually meant to hold the original grille in place. It's a little bit of a different setup. Now, to do that, you're gonna need a 10-millimeter deep socket and these like to spin inside those holes there, so it's helpful to have some channel locks, you can hold on to the puck on the end there, the threaded end of the stud, that way you can get that nut spinning freely without the entire thing spinning on you. All right, now we're finally ready to install the grille onto our support assembly here. But before you do that, you wanna remove the nuts on the studs here. For that, you'll need an 8-millimeter deep socket. All right, so once you got all these nuts and bolts removed, you can finally throw the grille onto the support assembly. Now when you do that, you wanna make sure that these three plastic prongs on the bottom line up with the holes on the support assembly, press everything down so everything's flush. And once you've done that, you can grab those nuts and bolts and you could reinstall them and tighten everything down. Our grille is finally assembled on our support assembly here, so we can throw it back in place. It's pretty straightforward, everything is done in the reverse order of what we did earlier to uninstall it. All right, so once you got your radiator cover back in place, that'll wrap up the install. And that also wraps up my review of the upper replacement grille in the matte black finish, fitting your '15 to '17 F-150. I'm Travis, and thanks for watching. And for all things F-150, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
