Hey guys, it's Sara with americantrucks.com and today we have a review and install of the T-Rex Billet Series Upper Overlay Grille in silver, fitting your '19 and newer Chevy Silverado 1500s. This is perfect for the Silverado owner who is looking to upgrade the look of their grille and wants to save a bunch of money over a full grille replacement. This grille overlay features a classic design that adds some detail to the front of your Silverado. It's constructed from durable billet aluminum and features a painted silver finish and is also available in brushed. So as far as price goes, this one comes in at around $150 making it a budget-friendly way to add some style to the front of your Silverado. I'm giving this install a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It features a direct bolt up installation with no cutting required and can be done within one hour. So with that said, let's jump into our install. For this install, you will need a trim panel and pop clip removal tool, 10-millimeter socket, ratchet, you may want a small extension, and you'll need a T15 Torx socket. All right, so the first step in our install with the hood popped, we're going to remove the rad support cover. To remove this cover you need to remove these pop clips and the ones that are recessed a little bit, they may be a little more difficult but for the most part, the rest of the exposed ones should come straight out. All right, so now we're going to remove the hood latch release, just this extended section so we're not wrestling it trying to get the cover off. Using a T15 Torx socket, remove these two bolts and remove the cover. With the hood release out of the way, grab this and remove it off your truck. All right, so next up, we're going to remove the 4 10-millimeter bolts at the top of our grille. Grab a 10-millimeter socket, let's get these removed. All right, now, we would grab the grille and pull it straight out to release the tabs, but these wings on the end here, they also have tabs on them. So, we're going to release these first. Just be careful with this trim panel removal tool or you can tape around the headlight and body to make sure you don't scratch anything. Place your tool behind this edge of the grille and pull backwards. So, once the edges are released, now you can grab your grille from the center and pull backwards to release the metal clips. All right, so now that we have the grille removed, we can install the overlays. Now, these do exactly what they say, they just overlay in the top of the grille here, there is an open section, they just slide right in. So, line them up with your grille, and then we're going to bolt them on from the back. All right, so these are all different lengths, but T-Rex was nice enough to label them. So, obviously, its smallest at the bottom and then it progressively gets larger. Just make sure you're using the correct one in the correct opening. And then one goes all the way up top here. All right, so we have the grille flipped over just to give you guys a better look at the underside of it. Now, we're going to get them bolted up. Starting in the center, just make sure everything is still lined up. And we're going to grab the brackets that are included. Now, these do feature a little notch in there, and this part that sticks out further goes towards the top. And, if you're not sure, you can just line these up and you'll see if it sits flush or not right away. Grab the included nut and thread it on. We're just going to have this loosely for now and then tighten it down when we install the other two. All right, now, the edges they will have a little bit of tension on them, that's going to be good for a nice tight fit. So you may have to pull them in a little bit just to get these brackets on. And, there is a bit of adjustability back and forth here. So, we can just make sure that the overlay fits properly and adjust it if needed. And repeat that with the final side of this top part. Grab a 10-millimeter socket, you may want a little extension just give yourself some more room, and let's tighten these down. Just be careful not to overtighten here because this is going against your plastic grille. Repeat that process with the rest of the overlays. We're moving on to the first one down from the top one, number two. And, again, just make sure that this top cutout is facing up so that you're getting a good grip on your grille. Once you're sure it's sitting in the proper spot, go ahead and grab your socket and tighten them down. All right, now that we have the overlays installed in the grille, we can reinstall it on the truck. You're going to lineup all of the metal clips. It might help to come at the bottom ones first and at an angle. So, once you get it laid in, it'll drop down in and that's where it's going to line up to the front of your truck. And then press it into place. Make sure that the corner of your grille is clipped in as well. Reinstall the bolts that hold on your grille. Now, grab your 10-millimeter socket and tighten these down. Reinstall the rad support cover and all of the pushpins. Once all the plastic clips are reinstalled in your rad support cover, you can reinstall your hood latch. Slide it over top of the metal portion and then reinstall these Torx bolts. With your T15 Torx, tighten these down. They are going into plastic, so don't overtighten here. All right, so that is going to do it for the review and install of this grille overlay. And, remember for all things Silverado, keep it at americantrucks.com.
