Jake: Jake here for AmericanTrucks. And today I'm taking a look at these LED Tail Lights with Black Housings and Smoked Lenses, fitting the 2011 to 2016 F-250 Super Duty. If the tail lights in your F-250 are looking a bit worse for wear or maybe you just want a way to change up the style, these might be just what you're looking for. With some cool details and a stealthy modern look, these are a great upgrade that come in at a pretty affordable price. If you want to make a big difference in your truck's look without having to spend tons of money or time making it happen, then swapping out lights like these is going to be a great way to do that. With the black internal housing and the smoked lenses over top, these do make a pretty significant difference in style of your F-250. Whether you're going for that totally blacked-out look or you just want something that's a bit more slick, these bring a healthy dose of style and they don't compromise on function really either. Now, the main portion and the biggest story here are that these have LEDs that function as your turn signals and brake lights. Now these are going to be a big improvement over your factory halogen or incandescent bulbs. So your primary functions here are taken care of by LEDs. These are going to be much brighter and thus much safer out on the road because these will be more easily seen by other drivers. Not only that, but they look cool. Even when they're off, they've got a nice cool modern type of look to them. Now these are going to retain your factory incandescent bulbs for the reverse lights, but that's just going to keep the initial price and the running costs lower for you. Again, I really just like the look of these. They're very simple, they're very clean, and they're very slick. So if you like that blacked-out smoked type of look, these are going to be a great option for you.Construction here is going to be your standard plastic for the outer housings with that matte black finish on the inside, and you've got polycarbonate for these lenses. As you can probably tell through the video, these are still pretty visible even with the lights off. So when they're on, they're still gonna give out plenty of light output, but they have that nice kind of smoked sleek look to them. They come with everything necessary for the install too, making these pretty much a plug-and-play operation. But we'll talk more about that shortly. And again, since the main functions here are LED, these are gonna make for really bright light and a long lifespan, so they should last you a while too.Pricing comes in at about $275, and that does make them a pretty inexpensive upgrade. So if you want to make a change or an upgrade without shelling out some of the big bucks of other options, these are going to be a good choice for you. These are going to be a great choice for anybody, whether you're looking for that smoked type of look, you want something a little more sleek and modern. If you want to get LEDs without having the hassle of trying to find the right bulbs, or if you just want to get something that's a little bit different and you're working on a bit of a tighter budget, they're going to be a good option for you.Installation gets a one out of three on our difficulty meter, and these should only take you about 30 minutes to complete. Like I was mentioning earlier, these are a simple plug-and-play operation, so you don't need to modify anything on your truck. You're just gonna plug these in in place of your regular tail light bulbs, you're gonna swap your incandescent bulbs for the reverse lights in, and then these are just gonna bolt right in place on the side of the tailgate. Very simple, very easy to do. And now let's head over to the install bay where we'll walk you through the process.Man: For this install, you will need a ratchet, 1/4-inch to 3/8 adapter if necessary, and an 8-millimeter socket. What's up, guys? Today we're going to be doing a set of tail lights on our F-250, so let's get started.Alrighty, guys. So to start things off, we're going to go ahead and pop our tailgate open. Then we're going to come to our first tail light here. We're going to grab our 8-millimeter socket on our ratchet and we'll go ahead and take out our two mounting screws for our tail light. Once we have those two out, we just simply pull our tail light assembly out. Just give it a good tug. it might be a little tricky, but they will pop out. And once we have this out, we can go ahead and disconnect our connectors and set our factory unit aside. So before we can go onto the truck with our new unit, we are going to need to swap over a few things from our factory assembly. And to do that, we're going to come to the back of our tail light here, and first, we're going to pull out our upper connector as well as our main connector here and just give those a quarter turn counterclockwise and they should pop right out of their seats, and then you can pull them out.So for this one, we're going to go ahead and remove the bulb. And if you want to save your bulbs, you do want to make sure you wear gloves if you're touching the glass portion of your bulb as to not create hot spots. And that will cause premature failure. So go ahead and take that off. Then we'll come to our new unit here, and we have our LED conversion connector. We'll just go ahead and plug that right into our factory connector. Then we can just tuck our wiring in. And then we'll go ahead and seat this into place. Then once you have them in, you can go ahead and give it a quarter turn clockwise to lock it into place. Then we can come with our other connector here down bottom. Just slide that in and, again, give it a quarter turn clockwise and lock it in.So since this connector will now be at the bottom of our assembly, you are going to want to tuck it back under this little brace piece here just so it doesn't interfere with your mounting. Then we can go ahead and plug it in the same way we did taking it out. Our brown to brown, and our gray one with our gray. Now you may need to move this, plug it in, and do this bottom little dowel here. And just simply plug it in and you can rotate it back and lock it into place. So now to set our tail light back into place, we're going to line it up with our two locators here. Get them into place, and then just give them a firm push to lock them in. Once we have that done, we can go ahead and reinstall our two 8-millimeter mounting screws, again using our 8-millimeter socket on our ratchet. We'll just give our tail light a little bit of push to get it right into place. We'll go ahead and run our mounting screws back in. Then once you have this whole process complete for this tail light, you can go ahead and repeat this process for the other side.Alrighty, guys. That about wraps up our review and install of our LED Tail Lights with Black Housing and the Smoked Lenses for your '11 to '16 F-250 Super Duty. Thanks for watching. And as always, for everything F-250, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
