      Video Review & Installation

Hey, guys. It's Joe from AmericanTrucks. And today, we're gonna be taking a closer look at the Sprint Booster Power Converter, fitting all '07 to '18 Silverado 1500s. Now this is gonna be the perfect option for any Silverado owner out there that's a little bit unhappy with their throttle pedal and they're looking to enhance that pedal feel and get the response where it needs to be. So to understand what the sprint booster is gonna do, we have to go back in time a little bit, talk about how throttle body's used to work, how frontal pedals used to work in how they work now, and how that introduces a problem known as input lag.Back in the day, it used to be a hard connection between the throttle pedal and the throttle body in the engine, so when you press that throttle pedal down, there's no lag, there's either a cable or a linkage opening the throttle butterfly valve in accordance with how far you're pressing the throttle pedal down. However, nowadays, not so much. Car manufacturers use computers to basically take a signal coming from the throttle pedal, send that off to a computer which then gets sent back over to the throttle body and opening the butterfly valve allowing air to come into the engine for combustion. Now those computers are great, it makes things a little bit easier for car manufacturers, however, it does introduce a little bit of input lag. This is where something like the Sprint Booster 10 comes into play. Basically, what it's gonna do is up the signal coming from your throttle pedal going off to the computer basically tricking your engine into responding a little bit faster by opening that butterfly valve in the throttle body a little bit further and faster at that. This little guy right here has three modes. You have the off mode, which is gonna be factory and then you have sport that is going to be the green mode and then you have red, that's gonna be your race mode. They each increase throttle response accordingly and each level has nine options allowing you to really dial in how your throttle pedal is going to feel. This also has a little bit of security built-in with the pedal lock feature, once activated, it's not going to allow your truck to come off idle and that's gonna prevent any would be valets out there from pulling the old "Ferris Bueller" with your Silverado. It's also completely reversible as there's no tune required to run something like this. So if you do ever want to go back to factory, all you have to do is take this out from the harness in front of your throttle pedal and you're good to go. Now one thing I do want to be clear about is this is not going to make horsepower, this is only going to open the throttle body faster. Once the throttle body is all the way open, you can't open it any further than that. So if you're looking to pick up some horsepower, this is not gonna be the mod for you. However, if you're just unhappy with the way the throttle pedal in your truck feels, this is gonna be a great, great option and not too expensive either to completely change the driving dynamics of your Silverado, right around 300 bucks again, not too bad. If you're unhappy with your throttle pedal, you're looking for some more response, this is gonna be it for you. Install is going to be really, really easy. Again, plugs in right in front of the throttle pedal. One out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, should take you from five to minutes with no tools whatsoever. So without any further ado, let's head over to our truck, I'll show you how it's done. Now before we actually install this thing, it's a little bit tough to see in our footwell, so I'm gonna do my best to show you this outside of the car and then we'll show you what it looks like once it's installed. Now like I said earlier, this wire here, this is just going to install inline right before our throttle pedal. This side is for the pedal itself, this side is going to be for our harness. Before we do, we're just gonna take that harness side and install our controller box. It's got that little white plug on the end that just clips in just like so and then we can work on the wiring inside of our truck. So here's what that wiring is going to look like. All we have do here, just pull this gray safety tab like so, then we can press in on the release tab and that just unclicks right like that. Now we can come in with our throttle controller and again one end is going to slide on the pedal and then the other end to our harness. And then we can re-secure that safety tab to make sure they don't come separated. Now the kit does include some double sided tape for you to mount that switch. So we're just gonna put that on the back here, wind that up a little bit better and so. Then you can put that wherever you want. Right here next here to the steering wheel is where we're gonna go. The kit also includes a zip tie, you want to make sure this wiring is nice and managed, you don't want to get that tangled up in your pedals. Guys, that is gonna do it for me, it's also gonna do it for the Sprint Booster Power Converter, fitting all '07 to '18 Silverado 1500s. As always, thank you guys so much for watching.
