Increased Air Density Means Better Performance. Your truck's engine works better when it's breathing cool, fresh air. Stock air intakes can allow hot, under hood air into the engine, increasing charge temperatures. Elevated charge temperatures can reduce performance and increase fuel consumption. Experience optimal performance from your F-150 with the help of this cold-air intake kit from Spectre.

The Kit that Lets Your Engine Breathe. Spectre provides all the parts you need to get cold, fresh air into your truck's engine. The included heat shields keep under hood air separate from the intake tract. The smooth curves of the polished aluminum intake tube reduce airflow resistance. The air filter element is reusable, and keeps debris out of the mechanicals. The result is increased power and torque for your rig, with no decrease in protection.

Simple and Quick Installation. All parts necessary for Installation are included in this kit. It uses your truck's stock MAF sensor. It's tuned around stock ECU programming, so no "chip" is required. Follow the illustrated install instructions, and in less than an hour you'll be experiencing a spark of new life from your F-150.

CARB Certified. Best of all this Cold Air Intake for the 2004-2007 Model Years is 50-state smog legal under Carb EO# D-629-4.

Application. This polished Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake is specifically designed to be used on the 2004-2008 F-150s equipped with the 5.4L engine.

this intake fits my engine great, once i have it installed do i need to get the engine tuned ?

        • This would not require a tune after the install no.

Will this one keep water out of my motor if it rains or I go through mud and I have to drive down a lot of dirt roads how good is the filter at keeping dirt out of the motor?

        • The filter included with the Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake will have excellent dust filtration, however this will use a heat shield as opposed to an airbox, which will allow more dirt and water contaminants to hit the filter, causing it to need to be cleaned more often. For your use, a cold air with an airbox may be a better bet to reduce cleaning intervals.

            BAD Instructions

The product itself is pretty good but delivery and instructions are not. I had to order twice because the first box arrived untapped and open with all the clamps and hardware missing. Second box was starting to come open but all parts were there. The kit delivered was for my F150, 5.4L engine but the written instructions inside were for a RAM truck and different kit. I went to the American Trucks website to use their instruction video and it is also wrong. The “expert” in the video puts the aluminum tube on backwards which then causes the MAF sensor to be upside down and in the wrong place. My truck would not start and run. After some research I realized these instructions are wrong and flipped the intake pipe end for end. It took a little adjusting to get the MAF sensor connector to clear the Power Steering Reservior but I was able to install the kit with nothing rubbing. The performance seems better but time will tell. The sound is more aggressive at high RPM which I like. I give a 4 on appearance as there were a few scratches on the aluminum pipe. It would have been a lot simpler and quicker to install if the directions were correct. Come on American Trucks, re-shoot that video with the correct installation.

            dont waste your money

don't waste your money on this product. II purchased this and the mass air flow sensor location is in the wrong spot. you have to flip the tube over so that the MAFS can be installed right side up, as it will not work properly if installed as the instructions indicate. When you flip the the tube over it does not fit properly and the MAFS hits the brake fluid reservoir.

            Good product.

This is over all a good product. It had some imperfections but nothing so bad you could see them after install. I have noticed a bit more power at the back wheels and I can see a ticket or two in the near future if I don't figure out how to keep my foot off the gas. I barely put my foot on the gas and she reacts. Great boost in power along with the Spectre throttle body spacer. The air intake is snug against the top of the fire wall but it wasn't hard to put on after the spacer was applied. How ever I did remove 1 star because it came with out any mounting hardware and I had to dig through the old bolt bin and find something that would work on it. I also had to make an adapter for the vacuum line to hook to. I called AT and told them about the situation and they put in a order for the mounting hardware but when it arrived all the box had in it was the small wrench that was missing as well but still no mounting hardware. that,s why it only got 3 stars.

Easy to install with very few tools. I watch video to help with installation. After installing my truck wouldn’t start. I made a quick call to customer service and they were able to help very quickly. Definitely tell a deference in power and gas mileage.

            Noticable Differance

Installation is simple. Follow instructions, take your time. One problem, the port for the air MAFS on the tube is welded in upside down. The MAFS will not work if installed upside down. Had to bore and tap new screw holes to make it fit correctly. All else was simple. Big difference when you start off on the gas. Hope it picks up gas mileage, installed yesterday. Rated 3 because of the MAFS problem.

            Install video flaw.

The install video illustrates the mass air flow sensor near the throttle body. If you install it that way the sensor has to be installed backwards. The sensor should be on the filter end.

            Increased MPG

I mostly purchased this to help increase my MPG. Average on the highway was 12.5 mpg. After the install, I have increased to 18 MPG. No tuning and this is all I have done as modifications to the truck. The paper instructions are horrible to read and the video he puts the tube on backwards. I had a small fuse box that I needed to remove that was next to my Coolant tank (Washer fluid, if you are watching the instruction video) its now dangling in the truck till I figure something out.

On the Video the guy puts the thing on backwards. Overall it’s a good product, if you’re going for sound try KandN. I installed a KandN on my other truck and the sound is a lot louder and deeper.

            Pretty good for the price

Now I’ve only had this on for a day or two but so far I’m very impressed with it. Increased MPG and performance. The heat shield was a bit of a bull to get on, it seems if your relay for what I believe is the fog lights is in the same position as mine you’ll have to relocate it. It came missing a bolt for the shield as well but it was no big deal it’ll manage with two. Also had to sand the MAF tunnel a bit there was a lip on the inside stopping it from going in. All in all 4 stars
