Hey guys. It's Sara with americantrucks.com. And today, we have a review and install of the Raxiom G2 LED Tail Lights in Red Smoked, fitting your '07 to '13 Silverado 1500s. These are perfect for the Silverado owner who wants to upgrade their tail lights to an LED and wants a style upgrade as well with the black housings and modern design. These G2 tail lights feature LEDs that will outlast the life of your factory bulbs and also feature some added aftermarket style with the LED accent bars and square design. They're constructed from durable black smoked lenses with black housings and DOT-approved, meaning they're legal for on-road use.So, as far as price goes, these come in at around $250 for the pair, putting them about middle of the road price-wise when compared to other options. And for your money, you are getting an LED tail light with a modern, unique design. And as far as the install goes, I'm giving this one a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature direct plug and play install with no modification or wiring required, and can be done within one hour. So, with that said, let's check out our install. For this install, you will need a pop clip removal tool, and we used a Phillips head bit and a small gun, but you can also use a Phillips head screwdriver. All right. So, the first step in our uninstall is to grab a Phillips head screwdriver or we're using a Phillips head bit to make it a little faster, and remove the two bolts on the inside of the tail light. With those two screws removed, grab the tail light and pull it straight back towards you. Twist each of these connectors to remove. All right. So, we move to underneath the truck, we're on the driver side of the spare tire here. What we have to do is disconnect this connector on the bottom. If you're not sure which one it is, just chase back the wiring harness and make sure it's the one heading to the passenger side. Once you unplug the connector, grab a pop clip removal tool and remove all of the clips holding on the harness to the frame. Now that you have all the pop clips disconnected, go ahead and pull the wiring harness and route it out of the side of your bed. Go ahead and remove it completely. All right. So, the next step before we can install our tail light is to install the ballasts on the inside of the bed. Now, I've unplugged these just to make it a little bit easier so you're not juggling the tail light and also these. Go ahead and peel off the protection for the double-side adhesive. What we're going to do is go on the inside here and I'm going to the inside of the bed. You can stick this wherever works for you. You can also mount them as well, they have holes in them, as long as the wiring harness reaches to the tail light. Repeat that with the next two ballasts. And if you don't want to stick them, you can see here, the two holes, you can use those with self-tappers if you want a more permanent mounting solution. All right. So, this kit did come with two plastic retainers here, new ones in case yours are worn or broken. But ours look to be in good shape, so we're going to reuse the ones on the truck. Next up, grab your wiring harness, route it down the exact same path as your factory one. Once that is done, you can begin to plug it back in each of your ballasts. And once all of those are in place, you may want to throw a zip tie or two on the wiring, make sure it's out of the way of anything moving, hot, or sharp. And line up the two posts at the back of the tail light with the plastic retainers, and press it into place. At this point, you can reinstall the factory hardware. Grab your Phillips head screwdriver or a Phillips head bit and tighten it down. Route your wiring harness the same spot as the factory. And you may want to secure it with a few additional zip ties if it's hanging down anywhere, and then plug it into the factory location til you hear the click. All right. Now that we have the factory tail light uninstalled from our truck, we can check it out side by side with our new tail light here. And as you can see design-wise, these are completely different from one another. Your new tail light features a ton of black styling to give it that aftermarket look and a lot more boxy of a design as well when compared to the factory. In addition, there's also a functional difference. This new tail light features LEDs, which are going to last much longer and be a nice upgrade from the factory halogen bulbs. So, with that said, let's finish up our install. All right. Now that the passenger side is installed, we're going to repeat that same process for the driver side. All right. So, that is going to do it for the review and install of these Raxiom Tail Lights. And remember, for all things Silverado, keep it at americantrucks.com.
