Hey, what's going on guys, Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today I'm bringing you a detailed overview and install of the Roush cold air intake kit fitting all 2015 and newer 5-liter F-150s. In this video, I'll be going over the functionality and expectations of the Roush cold air intake I have with me today as well as its materials and construction. I'll top everything off with the installation which I'll tell you up front will be easy enough for any novice to take care of, so it'll get a solid one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Let's jump right into it.This kit I have with me today from Roush is going to be a complete replacement for your factory airbox and the tubing giving you free-flowing tubing as well as a very, very high-quality superior air filter directly from Roush and an overall improved airbox as well. All of this combined together for your 5-liter V8 is not going to require a tune, saving your wallet from taking that beating. Speaking of no tune required, this option from Roush utilizes the mass air flow instead of the speed density. However, it does not require a tune. With that said, I don't want you to think this will produce the world of difference when it comes to power and torque gains. However you can expect maybe single digit gains at best, an improved throttle response, maybe even some more fuel mileage but overall you'll get a better engine sound with a more aggressive and attractive note which is always a plus. If you are looking to maximize the potential of power when it comes to your intake for your 5-liter V8, you might want to check out some of the tune required options to get that bigger gain. One thing I do want to touch on before I go any further is that this option from Roush is unfortunately not going to be 50 state legal. If you're located in an emissions-restrictive state like California, this option is going to be intended for off-road use only. It will not be street legal. However, there are some of the other options out there for you such as the K&N Series 77 that will be 50 state legal and work perfectly for you in California or other emissions-restrictive states.Moving on to the materials and construction aspect of the video, I do want to touch on this extremely high quality oiled filter directly from Roush. This one is going to be reusable, so it does prevent you from having to spend the extra money on a new filter every couple of thousand miles. With that said, all you'd have to do is pop it off of your intake, wash it, re-oil it and pop it right back on and you're good to go. Along with the 6-inch conical filter with the multi-layer cotton gauze for superior filtration, you'll get all of that wrapped into this air filter from Roush, but other than that you're getting injection molded polypropylene for an extremely long lasting and durable lifetime with a better free flowing airflow over your factory option. As far as the price goes here, expect to be spending just shy of $400 for this option putting it at the higher end of the spectrum compared to the other options on the market. With that said, this one offers higher quality materials and a better air flow overall compared to your factory option. It doesn't require a tune, so it doesn't produce the most power, single digit gains at best like I said. But, if you are looking to spend the extra money on that extra power, check out some of the tune required options as well.As far as the installation goes, like I said in the very beginning, this one is going to be simple enough for any novice to take care of. About 30 minutes tops in the driveway at home with a simple ratchet and socket set, maybe even a flat head screwdriver for the clamps. With that said, it gets a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Let me explain that a bit further. All this one's going to consist of is using that flat head screwdriver to unclamp your entire factory system. Once everything's unbolted and removed from the vehicle, set that aside because all the new hardware is provided for you in the kit from Roush. Put everything back together with the Roush aftermarket system all in reverse order. Once everything is clamped down it looks like you're good to go. Like I said, 30 minutes tops in the driveway at home, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter.Just to wrap things up here, if you're the owner of a 2015 or newer 5-liter V8 F-150 and you're looking for a way to replace that factory airbox system with a new improved air flow all while not needing a custom tune, you might want to check out the Roush cold air intake which is available right here at americanmuscle.com.

A Handsome and Effective Race-Proven CAI. Designed to bring a tornado of fresh, cold, oxygenated air rushing into your 2015-2017 F-150’s 5.0L engine, this iteration of the Roush Cold Air Intake is one of the easiest, fastest ways to power up your truck to new levels. Cutting induction restriction by 31%, this powerful component puts +13.9 horsepower and +19.7 ft-lbs of torque at your command. It’s also made to look good in your F-150’s engine compartment and to give your truck an adrenaline-charged performance sound.
No Tune Required. Unlike other Cold Air Intakes on the market for the Coyote powered F-150s, this Roush CAI does not require a computer re-tune. The engineers at Roush Performance really did their homework to improve your truck's power using the factory tune. However, AmericanTrucks recommends the use of a Handheld Tuner to see even larger power gains.
Rugged Reusable Air Filter Element. The air filter found in the Roush Cold Air Intake doesn’t need to be washed for 100,000 miles except in very dirty conditions, though it can be washed once it gets clogged up and reused. The dry filter design means it does not need to be oiled after cleansing. Two layers of wire mesh inside the synthetic fabric help retain the shape of the filter element and extend its useful lifespan.
Plastic Design with Stainless Steel Fastenings. Roush builds the Cold Air Intake out of polyethylene plastic for the most part, with stainless steel clamps and a synthetic fabric filter element. The full air box and heat shield is injection-molded plastic, while roto-molding is used to fashion the intake tube itself. The surface of these black polyethylene parts is textured for added visual interest. The filter element is red for contrast, making the part an aesthetic upgrade to the engine compartment as well as a practical boost.
Handy, Direct Install. The Roush Cold Air Intake is manufactured with an easy installation in mind, bolting on as a direct-fit replacement for the factory intake and air box. No cutting is needed to install this component and new attachment points don’t need to be drilled. All necessary hardware is included with the intake.
Warranted for 90 Days. A 90-day limited warranty against defects in workmanship and materials applies to the Roush Cold Air Intake.
Driveable Anywhere in the USA (CARB Compliant). The Roush Cold Air Intake is designed for 50-state legality, meeting all the standards laid down in California’s CARB regulations. This intake can be used for on-road driving in the Golden State and all other states of the USA. A CARB compliance sticker is included with the part. In order to be street-legal in CARB locales, the sticker needs to be displayed on the CAI itself or on the nearest flat surface. The Roush Cold Air Intake carries CARB EO Number #D-418-30.
Application. This Roush Performance Cold Air Intake Kit is specially designed to fit the 2015-2017 F-150s equipped with the 5.0L engine.

really worth 400$?
this was my first time putting in a cold air intake on a car and it only took a hour long so install is pretty easy. it is louder from the engine but the power is only slightly noticeable. for the money i would i have expected better quality parts as the seal is not the best. would have gotten KandN for about 200$ cheaper if i knewHelpful (2)

Roush should be ashamed
This product never even made it all the way onto my truck. The intake tube looks extremely cheap, the slot in the bottom of the air box where the factory ram air duct connects is way to big so just a cheap fit there, then to beat all the metal inserts where 2 bolts that hold the air filter tube inside the air box stripped from the plastic before the bolt was even half way screwed in. AT refunded my money and were very understanding. I would not recommend this product to anyone ever!Helpful (10)
The open element scares me. I have friends who installed open aired intakes on their cars and a week later they hydro lock the engine. The open part of the box does not seal completely when driving in rain and the water hits your engine. So is the 2017 3.5 boost completely sealed under the hood?
The Roush Cold Air Intake will seal completely to the hood, allowing water to enter via the OEM duct in the grille only.
Hello! This Roush Cold Air Intake is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards.
Just to make sure, this will fit my 2017 3.5L EB, correct? Your description says it will (Fits All 2015-2017 3.5L EcoBoost F-150s, Excluding Raptors) but one of the Q A questions says it won't. Help!
Hello, I apologize for the confusion and will definitely get that amended. This intake will work with all 2015-2017 3.5L Ecoboost F-150's (Except the Raptor).
Is there a noticeable difference in the sound the engine makes after installing the intake, is the turbo blow-off more noticeable?
The vehicle will be louder after installing this, with the turbo being more noticeable.
Will this fit a 2018 F150 with a 5.0?
Unfortunately, this Roush cold air intake would not fit with the 2018 5.0L models. Roush does make the intake for your year with part number 422088. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not carry that item.
We do not carry the Roush Air Filter Replacements, and would suggest contacting Roush to purchase that.
Regarding the warranty, it is best to confirm with your local dealership.
The coupler for the throttle body end is silicone and can be used with stock or aftermarket throttle bodies. 90mm will be a tight fit when installing.
This is not compatible with 2018 models.
It is legal in California under CARB EO Number: D-418-30.
This will fit on your truck and would be 50 state legal.
This kit includes an oiled filter and will not require oiling.
There is a gap between the piping and the heat shield simply because, sealing that isn't going to change anything, and having it slightly larger makes installation that much easier. The heat this product is protecting the filter from isn't coming from where the filter connects to the tube, so there is nothing to worry about in terms of that gap you are speaking of.
Unfortunately this will not fit the 2018 F-150 2.7L EcoBoost models
So what you are referring to is just the heat shield, so for both the simplicity of the installation, and the fact that nothing the heat shield would be protecting against would come from that angle, is why you aren't seeing that "perfect seal" so to speak.
