Review & Install Video
Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here with my quick review of the Putco front bed protector in stainless, available for your 2009 to 2014 F-150. In this video I'm gonna talk to you about what you can expect when going with the Putco stainless steel front bed protector, what it's made of, what it's gonna do for your functionality, how much its gonna set you back, and finally, what it takes to get it installed.
And, guys, as an added bonus, this one isn't going to test you at all, simple peel and stick job here. So, expect one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. This product from Putco is gonna be for the F-150 owners out there looking for some added protection for that front bed rail and want to look good while doing so. Now, obviously, guys, this is gonna be a very simple part that's gonna offer both functionality and form. So with that said, let's take a closer look.
Now, if you guys are familiar with the name Putco, then chances are you probably know what you're getting into when checking out products like their front bed rail protector here. Now, that's because they've been doing stuff like this for over four decades now, specializing in truck accessories and chrome accessories, and it really is evident when we're looking at this product.
So the entire purpose of this product from Putco is to protect that exposed upper bed rail from scratches, dings or whatever, and add a little bit more flash in the process. Now, truck owners who already have a spray-in liner or a drop-in bed liner might not really feel the need to add something like this because more than likely you're already covered there.
However, with that said, if you do want to just add a little bit more chrome on top of that, I'm not gonna judge you. As for the construction, guys, well, Putco utilizes a material called Never-Rust Stainless Steel. It's a very high-quality material. And with this particular product here, it's a very heavy gauge or thick gauge. So, you're not gonna have to worry about this thing getting dinged up even being in the bed.
On top of that, guys, they then finish it off with a very brightly polished finish, As you can see, pretty much a mirror here, and it is gonna add to your appearance as well, even though its in a very hard to see area. The Putco bed protector is made in the U.S.A. and it is backed by Putco's limited warranty one year here just in case you run into any problems down the road.
The one thing I really do like about this product, guys, is that Putco went ahead and de-burred all the edges for you because, again, this is heavy duty stainless steel, this is heavy gauge stuff, so you're not gonna have to worry about getting cut up handling this thing and they've even went ahead and installed the 3M automotive tape on the product already.
So when it comes time for the install, pretty much all you have to do is remove that protective backing and slap it on. You're gonna be looking right around $100 price point for this bed protector from Putco, which seems to be the going rate for truck accessories similar to this from Putco. Now, you do have to factor in you're getting some great quality materials here, you're getting that mirror-like polished finish from stainless steel, so you do have to factor this stuff into the price along with that perfect fit.
And speaking of that great fit, we talked about the install a little earlier here. Guys, this is gonna be very straightforward, simple peel and stick job. So, for that, one out of three wrenches on my difficulty meter. Maybe a few minutes from start to finish. You won't even need to open up the toolbox for this one. Now, with any peel and stick part, you're gonna wanna make sure everything is nice and clean before getting started.
So grab that alcohol prep pad, thoroughly wipe down the area this thing is gonna be installed on. Now, with everything all cleaned off, simply remove the protective backing on the 3M automotive tape and carefully adhere to your ride. As for my final thoughts on this product, guys, well the Putco front bed protector does add a little bit of functionality.
But, honestly, in my opinion, I think this is just another excuse to add a little bit more chrome or a little bit more flash to your ride. So that's my review of the Putco stainless front bed protector, which you can find right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
