Hey guys, Adam here with americantrucks.com. And today we're taking a very quick look at and installing the Proven Ground C&L Series Throttle Body Spacer available for the 2014 and newer V8 Silverado and Sierra 1500s. Now, if you have a V8, you can be checking out this throttle body spacer if you're looking for a better atomization of your air-fuel ratio, leading to a better combustion. That's the job of a throttle body spacer. This one, in particular, has a spiral bore design, which is going to help spin the air coming into your intake manifold through your throttle body, which can lead to exactly that, better atomization of the air-fuel ratio, leading to a better combustion, which may ultimately lead to better low to mid-range torque. You can see a slight bump there. This is made from an aircraft-grade billet aluminum with a black anodized finish, which is going to help with corrosion and oxidation resistance. It comes with a new gasket as well, for a proper seal, and longer bolts for the throttle body to accommodate for the added material. You're no longer going to be using those factory four bolts that we'll be taking off in just a second because you're adding the extra half-inch in between the throttle body and the intake manifold. The price for something like this comes in right around 80 bucks, and the install gets one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Anybody can tackle this in the driveway at home with about 30 minutes or so from start to finish. It's a really, really simple process. I'm going to walk you through the entire thing. What do you say we get started?Tools used in this install include an impact gun or a ratchet, 10 millimeter deep socket, and a flathead screwdriver.First step here is to get rid of our factory tubing. In order to do that, we have to disconnect a couple of things. On each corner, there is a breather line. We're going to lift up on the gray tab from underneath and pull straight back. That's going to disconnect it. Same thing on this side here. A little bit more difficult to see, but it's still easy enough. You're just going to push up on the gray tab, and pull that guy straight back, so it's disconnected. We're just going to rotate it out of the way. Now, we can loosen up the hose clamps on the throttle body and back on the airbox. Now, loosening up the hose clamp here is pretty easy. You can use a flathead screwdriver. We have the bolt head here on the right side. Just going to crack that loose. Give it a couple of turns, so it disconnects there. Before we can disconnect that, let's loosen up the other end. On the other side where the airbox is, let's loosen up that clamp. Now, we can disconnect that. Now, we can grab this entire intake tube and pull that straight off.Next, we have better access to our throttle body. Before we can take off the four bolts, let's grab our flathead and disconnect the harness on the passenger side of the throttle body. I'm going to use my flathead to lift up on the red locking tab, pinch, and disconnect. Next, you can grab your 10-millimeter socket, whether it be an impact gun or a ratchet, and we're going to take off all four 10-millimeter bolts in each corner. All right. That last one support the throttle body. Pull that guy straight back. Set your factory throttle body aside. For the install, we're going to grab our throttle body spacer, and it has a lip on one side. So, it's flat flush here with the lip on the inside. This is going to go inside of the intake manifold just like that, lining up the open holes to the factory threaded holes. You're going to take your factory throttle body, in the same factory position it was in, along with the gasket included in the kit. Set the gasket on the backside of the throttle body, making sure it's lined up properly. It only goes on one way. Grab one of the new bolts included in the kit. Want to put that through this corner here, making sure it goes through the gasket as well just like that. Use that to line it up to the factory mounting holes. Start threading that through. So, that one bolt, threaded all the way down by hand, is going to help hold that in place, and continue to do that with the other bolts. Now, with these bolts, you want to make sure you have a flat washer on the bolt head side as well. Those are included in the kit. Okay, from there, grab your 10 socket and tighten these down. Just to note, guys, if you're using an impact gun like this, just have it on its lower setting. Take it a little bit easier. You only have to get them nice and snug. Don't overtighten them. We don't want to risk cracking the housing.Next, we're going to really simply just reconnect the sensor on the side. Once that's fully seated, drop the locking tab. Next, grab the factory intake. Set this back down. I'm going to seat it on the throttle body first and then bring it around to the airbox. With that fully seated, let's tighten down both of those hose clamps. Grab your flathead and tighten down the clamps. Same thing on the throttle body side. Last steps here, just reconnect those breather lines on each side. They just snap right in place. That's going to wrap up my review and install for the Proven Ground C&L Series Throttle Body Spacer available for the 2014 and newer V8 powered Silverado and Sierra 1500s.
