Merideth: What's up, guys? Merideth with americantrucks.com, and today we're taking a closer look at the MotoFab 2.5-inch Front Leveling Kit in Red, fitting all 2004 and newer F-150s, excluding the Raptor models. Now, this leveling kit is gonna be a straightforward and very affordable choice for the F-150 owner who wants some added height for a couple of different benefits for their truck, including better ground clearance and a more leveled appearance, but doesn't wanna get too involved in their suspension. Now, this is also not going to go overboard or sacrifice any ride quality, especially if you spend a decent amount of time in your truck, whether you're taking longer drives or commute with your F-150.Now, the height here will also be great if you do intend to create more of that leveled stance and increase your ground clearance, like I mentioned, whether that's to fit a larger tire up to a 33, to be specific, and to get some better clearance, whether you are taking your truck on the dirt or to the work site. Now, this kit, like I mentioned, will offer multiple benefits for your F-150 while maintaining a pretty comfortable ride day-to-day and not sacrificing a ton of ride quality with this style setup. Now, one of those benefits will be eliminating that rake, which will help when it comes to pulling the front end off the ground, giving you some better ground clearance in the front, being able to scale obstacles that you may have previously come in contact with. Now, most importantly, though, this is going to raise that nose height enough to allow you to fit a 33-inch tire very comfortably inside that wheel well, which will be great for both functional and aesthetic purposes. Now, you'll also see trucks with this lift with 35s, but just keep in mind, if you do want to go any taller than a 33, I would expect to make some modifications. So, in my opinion, 33 is going to be your best bet. Now, the lift is quite simple, consisting of two one and three quarter-inch spacers that will bolt to the top of your strut. Now, if you notice, the spacers are not gonna measure out true to 2.5 inches because the suspension geometry and spring compression with the one and three quarter-inch spacer is what creates that 2.5-inch lift. The spacers will be tough as well, made of a CNC-machined billet aluminum construction with a red powder coat on top to protect that aluminum underneath from any corrosion. The kit will also come with all the hardware needed in order to install it, making it pretty straightforward when it comes to getting this kit onto your F-150.Now, like I said at the beginning of this video, this is going to be a very affordable choice coming in at about $90. Now, lift kit and leveling kit pricing usually comes down to what's included in the kit. And with this being so simple, that really is what explains that price point. Now, while it is affordable, it doesn't lack quality in construction and will give you exactly what you need on a budget without completely throwing your ride quality out the window. Now, other kits like this that are a little bit more involved may change things like that ride in addition to the height, but will vary depending on how in-depth you wanna go with your suspension. Now, I think if you're looking to keep it on the simple side with a well-built and very affordable kit, then this is gonna be right up your alley. Now, although this is very straightforward when it comes to leveling kits, this is still gonna get a three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter when it comes to the install. But with the right setup and tools, it should take you about two hours to get the job done, especially with the right experience. Now, at this point, we can head over to our shop and check out a detailed breakdown on how to get these onto your F-150 and what that process looks like step by step. So that is going to wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Male Speaker: Tools required for this install include a couple different size air and impact guns, a hammer, a swivel adapter, 15-millimeter swivel socket, an extension, an 8-millimeter Allen socket, 15, 18, and 21-millimetersockets, a marker, 18 and 27-millimeterwrenches, 15 and 17-millimeterratcheting wrenches, a pry bar, and some pole jacks. What's up, guys? Today we're installing a lift kit on our F-150, so let's get started. So on the front, we need to remove our front struts. So the first thing we're gonna do is grab a 21-millimeter socket to disconnect our sway bar end link. So we'll grab our 21-millimetersocket to remove the nut for our sway bar end link. And then we can pull our end link out of the knuckle.Next, we can grab a 21-millimeter socket to remove the nut on our tie rod end. And then we can take a hammer and smack the side of the knuckle here to break this free. Next, we can come underneath our lower control arm and remove the two nuts that are holding our lower strut bolts into place. So we'll grab an 18-millimeter socket, pop these out. Now, next, we're gonna drop our lower control arm from our two pivot points. To be able to get this as close to our alignment as possible, I'm gonna take a marker and just make a line here so that once we put everything back together, we can line it up.Now, you're gonna have to get an alignment after the lift kit anyway, so this will just make it good enough to take it to the alignment shop. So now, with our marks made, we can grab a 27-millimeter wrench on our nut side and a 21-millimeter socket on our bolt side and remove our two bolts. And then we can drop our lower control arm from our strut.Next, we can come up to the top of our strut tower and remove the three 15-millimeter nuts that are holding our strut into place. So I've got a 15-millimeter ratcheting wrench to pop these out. And then with that last one loosened, we can lift up on our strut and spin that the rest of the way off by hand. Now, with our nuts removed, we can pull our strut out, and then do that same thing on the other side.So now with our strut removed, we're ready to install our spacer. Before we do that, we have to install the three studs into our spacer. We have these three threaded holes. We're gonna be flipping that over and threading our bolts through those three holes and then using an 8-millimeter Allen socket to tighten those down. So now we'll take our Allen bolts and thread those into our holes. And then we'll grab our 8-millimeter Allen socket to tighten those down. And then we can install that onto our strut. Now, there's only one orientation that this could go in. And then we'll get our factory upper strut nuts, put that into a 15-millimeter socket, and thread those onto our studs. And then we can throw that socket onto our impact gun and tighten down those nuts. And then we'll do that same thing for our other strut and get these back into the truck. So now we're ready to install our strut back into the truck. I've got a buddy here to pull forward on the lower control arm so I have the clearance I need to get this up into our top mount. And then once we have the studs through, we can thread our nut on. Next, we can get these studs at the bottom of our strut through the holes in our lower control arm. And then we'll grab our factory nuts and thread those on.Next, we can raise our lower control arm back up into our pivot points. I've got a couple of pole jacks here to raise this up. If you're doing this on the ground, you can use a couple of floor jacks. Now, you might need to use a pry bar to pry forward to be able to get your bolt in. And then you can get your nut on the other side, and then you can remove your pole jack. Now we can come back and tighten down our bolts. So I'm just gonna line up our alignment mark and then get my 27-millimeter wrench on the nut side and 21-millimeter socket on the bolt side and tighten this down. And then we'll do that same thing on the other side. Next, we can go back and tighten down our two lower strut nuts. So grab an 18-millimeter socket to tighten those. Now, we can go back up top and take a 17-millimeter ratcheting wrench to tighten down our upper strut nuts.Next, we can reinstall our tie rod end and thread on our nut. Then we'll take a 21-millimeter socket to tighten this down. Now, lastly, we can reinstall our sway bar end link back into our knuckle. We're gonna take a pry bar to pry down on the sway bar to get our link into place. And then we can thread our nut back on and tighten that down with a 21-millimeter socket. And now you can repeat that whole process on the other side.So that'll wrap up this review and install of the MotoFab 2.5-inch Front Leveling Kit, Red, for your 2004 and newer F-150, excluding Raptor. Thank you for watching, and for all things F-150, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
