    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey, everybody. I'm Justin with And this is my detailed review and install of the MBRP XP Series 3-inch Cat-Back Exhaust System featuring the dual same side Exit configuration that will dump before the passenger side rear tire, available for your 2015 and your 5-liter powered F-150. This review is gonna cover the big three topics you guys wanna know about when shopping for an aftermarket system for your new F-150. I'm gonna cover the sound from the MBRP, we'll talk about materials and construction. And then finally, we'll breeze over the install. And depending on your wheel-based, there might be the smallest amount of cutting needed to get this system installed but nevertheless, I'm sticking with a one out of three wrenches on my overall scale of difficulty with more detail coming up later on. So the XP series that I have in this video is gonna be a great choice for the 5-liter truck owners out there looking to grab a system that will deliver full stainless steel for the construction, but isn't gonna cost you a whole lot of dough in the process. In fact, this thing is hanging right around that $500 price point, which in my opinion, is very affordable in the world of aftermarket cat-backs. Along with that, I look forward to a moderate increase in volume over your factory system along with that very cool dual same side exit configuration that dumps before the passenger side rear tire much like the early SVT lightnings. But let's dive head first into the sound profile. You expect when bolting up the XP Series to your rig. And honestly guys, I was a big fun of this system. It made all of the right noises on our V8-powered truck. Definitely, isn't gonna win you any revving contest in regards to sheer volume, but the sound was there. So three out of five on my one to five or one to wake the neighbors scale. The overall volume level was right on par with a lot of systems for the V8-powered trucks. There certainly are gonna be some outliers out there that will be a bit louder and you can certainly shop around and find something a little quieter, if that's what you're in to. Interior noise was minimal at best, but what I did hear was very enjoyable, thanks to that Coyote Power Plant. But let's move away from the sound a little bit here and talk more about what the XP Series is gonna bring to the table in other areas. And I personally think the XP Series is one of the most popular in the MBRP lineup, because it's giving you a ton of bank for your buff. You're getting a full stainless steel build throughout but really for not a whole lot of dough. Again, right around 500 bucks is what you're looking at here for the XP Series. Now, if you're familiar with the XP Series or familiar with the MBRP lineup as a whole, then chances are, you know, they pretty much offer something for everybody. They have the installer series for the extremely budget-minded people. And if you want to kick things up a notch from the XP Series, they have their Pro Series which is gonna deliver that 304-grade stainless steel to benchmark material in the category. But for most people out there, this is going to be a great system, 409-grade stainless steel to be exact, it's gonna do a great job of reducing corrosion and it's gonna fit real well in addition to offering great welds and build quality. So we've established that this thing does pack 409-grade stainless steel throughout, but what else can you expect and crack in the box open for the very first time? Well, 3-inch mandrel bent tubing essentially from tip to tip here. It's gonna pass through this straight through by design muffler, single inlet dual outlet, everything is gonna exit out the dual 4-inch tips embossed with the MBRP logo. Again, these guys here are 304-grade stainless steel are gonna be really good at reducing the corrosion we talked about a little bit earlier. And let's get back to these tips here because again, I think that's one of the biggest draws with this particular system, that old school SVT lightning kind of exit before the passenger side rear tire, a very cool look and it looks great when installed. But let's switch gears and talk about the install here at the MBRP. And as I pointed out at the very top of this video, yes, there might be some cutting involved depending on your wheel based but it's very straight forward. Anybody can handle this one, so I'm still going one out of three wrenches on my difficulty meter, maybe an hour or two in the shop or garage before you're making some noise. As far as tools, well, again, if you do need the cut just make sure you have your favorite cutting tool on-hand before getting started. I personally like using a Sawzall along with the fresh metal blade, it's never let me down but you can use whatever you have laying around the shop or garage. Along with that, you really only need the basic socket set here to help you get this guy in place. Obviously, you'll need to drop that factory exhaust first before you can get to work on the MBRP. With that out of the way, I recommend starting from front to back, get the entire system hung on your truck first before your final tighten up and you should be good to go. Well, guys, what can I say about the MBRP XP Series, it's definitely one of my top choices for the newer F150 on the site and here's why. The sound is right where it needs to be for a big V8-powered truck without being over the top. The dual same side exit configuration looks absolutely killer on any stock or modified truck. And finally, the solid build quality and materials for the price is really hard to beat. So that is my review of the MBRP XP Series, which you can find right here at

Lifetime Warranty. The MBRP's XP Series is backed by a lifetime warranty and is an extremely reliable exhaust system. You'll be able to handle anything that you come across on the roadway. Additionally, your 5.0L F-150 will be able to weather various elements like rocks, grime, salt, and tar due to the rugged 16 gauge T409 construction.

Exhaustive Testing. With this exhaust system, you gain a dependable product that has been exhaustively tested for hours on the MBRP in-house F-150 1100 AWD-SED Chassis Dynamometer. The system has been tested and proven on hundreds of miles on the track and roadways. The minimal bend degree angles, fully mandrel bent tubing, and vehicle specific muffler design enables the exhaust to quickly move out of the system. When you use the MBRP exhaust system in your vehicle, that will augment downloaders, modules, programmers, and allow you to get the most from cold air intakes.

Sound and Styling. You'll benefit from optimal vehicle sound because the system is precision tuned. You gain a touch of sophistication with the stamped on logo on the tip. The stylish exhaust system delivers excellent performance ability.

User-Friendly Installation. Engineered to be a direct upgrade replacement for your F-150's factory exhaust, the MBRP Cat-Back Exhaust easily bolts up with the OEM hangers. Depending on your cab and bed size, some trimming to the piping may be required.

Application. The MBRP XP Series 3 in. Dual Side Exit Cat-Back Exhaust is designed to fit on all 2015-2019 F-150s equipped with the 5.0L V8 engine.

Very nice product, but louder than I wanted

The tone is awesome, deep and rumbly like a V8 should sound. It is much louder than than I wanted, it sounds GREAT, just wish it were a few decibels quieter

Great sound, not so great fitment

So the sound is good imo. It’s border line the sound of a borla type s muffler mixed with a magnaflow. It has a nice deep rumble that you would give her a Borla and the pitch is almost perfect and there is some drone inside the cab when you’re in the throttle but as far as cruising it’s not bad at all. As far as install, the hanger closest to the tips of the exhaust was bent down way too far and I had to bend them back up to make the pipe fit. Also you’ll have to cut the exhaust pipe coming off of the catalytic converter because it was too long at least for my king ranch.

After install the noise was too loud.... way to high sound... NOT like the video I saw when I was making my decision. I live in a well established area of town. your video said 1-5, 5 being the loudest the level was a 2-3 as the guy in the video said. now I'm stuck with this problem I call as you can see my account info.

I couldn't be more happier. If your not worried about your neighbors and love turning heads, then this is the exhaust for you! This is an "in your face, not raspy sounding exhaust, this is what a 5.0 should sound like" tone! I originally wanted the black series but was unhappy that MBRP started to coat 1/2 the system and charging the same price. The 409 was cheaper and I put 2 coats of high temp primer and 3 coats of ceramic black on it. This should last me the life of my truck. This system along with the AEM Brute Force CAI really woke up my truck. It breaths easier and runs a whole lot better. (Especially in sport mode). Only took about an afternoon of my time.

Great exhaust if you want to wake the dead.

Great fit/finish/tone and value... but it is very loud. MBRP should make a version with a resonator as an option. I gave 1 star do to extreme volume of the exhaust.(Loudness) It drones in the interior under light throttle. Most likely I will add a resonator to this if not, I am going back to stock... I can't even hear the stereo clearly.

      Louder than expected

I bought the MBRP Pro for 5.0L which is the T304 stainless other than the materials, it's all the same. I have the AEM cold air intake and installing this system, it was louder than expected in the cab; but, I got used to it. I don't feel any power increases over the norm but my MPG went from 18 to 22 which is nice. You really have to play with it to get it to fit like you want and make sure there are no air leaks. I ended up rotating the actual muffler like they have it in the video. I had to cut the mid pipe with a sawzaw to 29.75 inches, that was easy. Once all was setup a couple of days later I did get it all welded up.
