Hey, guys, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com here with my detailed review of the MBRP XP series dual split rear exit catback exhaust system available for your 2015 and up 5-liter F-150. You should be checking out the XP series from MBRP if you're looking for a dual, rear exit catback for your coyote powered F-150. It's gonna give you a good amount of volume but still keep things relatively budget friendly. This would also be a great option if you're looking to get in on a full stainless steel system for far less than some of your other stainless options currently available here on the site.
The MBRP offerings for the 5-liter F-150 are pretty vast. There's a lot to choose from here, guys...everything from dual rear exit kits like this, dual side exit kits, single side exit kits, black or silver finishes, different diameters, different materials, you get the point. Basically, MBRP has something for every truck owner out there and every budget. It's just going to boil down to what you're after for your particular truck and how much money you wanna spend.
Now, with all that said, the MBRP truck offerings will still be one of your most affordable options when it does come to aftermarket catbacks even if you go with one of their more premium full stainless systems, and that is the case when we're checking out the XP series here again from MBRP, but you're gonna fall right around that $600 price point. The XP series here is gonna fall right in between MBRP's installer series, which is their more entry-level catback offering, and their pro series, which is their top shelf option. The difference between series really boils down to the materials used. For instance, the XP series here is going to utilize 409-grade stainless steel which really does make sense in this case because 409, as a whole, is more of a middle-of-the-road material. You've got aluminized steel on the low side of the price range, and that 304-grade stainless steel is typically your more premium material.
The XP series, with its durable 409-grade stainless steel construction, does get the full lifetime warranty backing from MBRP as opposed to that less expensive installer series which only gets a 3-year warranty, and again, guys, that's simply due to the materials used as that installer series is gonna utilize that aluminized steel material just a little bit more prone to corrosion so something to keep in mind. If your truck or exhaust is going to see a lot of road salt during the winter months, the XP might be a better option.
This particular system does feature 2.5-inch tubing all of it mandrel bent, 3.5-inch dual tips here embossed with that MBRP logo. Again, everything is made from that 409-grade stainless steel. Again, guys, this is their dual rear exit system which always looks good on a pickup truck and a little bit better, in my opinion, than that factory single side exit system. But overall, the XP series is a very simple design. You're looking at a single bullet-style muffler here in conjunction with a resonator that MBRP throws in to help round out the sound a little bit. But overall, this system is definitely going to provide you with a good amount of tone as you heard with the sound clips. And speaking of sound, the MBRP systems really embody what a big V8 truck should sound like, at least in my opinion, guys. Very deep tone, plenty of bark when you hammer on it, and a low note when cruising.
Overall guys, I'd say this thing is good for a strong 3 out of 5 on my 1 to 5 or one to wake the neighbors scale. You are getting some good tone out of this thing. You definitely hear it inside the cab as well. We did pick up a little drone between 1,000 and 2,000 rpm. Really not a deal breaker, in my opinion, but ultimately, if you want a system that's gonna be heard both inside and outside of the truck, this is one to consider.
When it comes down to fitment and installation, MBRP does throw in this extension pipe here which will allow this system to work with any regular cab, super cab, or even super crew F-150 no matter what bed size. With this in mind, there might be a small amount of cutting necessary to get this thing on your rig. MBRP, however, does lay out very clearly where you might need to cut. Jumping right onto that guys, expect a very simple 1 out of 3 wrench install when it does come time to remove that factory catback and get the new MBRP system in place. Basic hand tools here, guys, including a socket set, maybe some air tools or a cordless impact will definitely make life a little bit easier. Of course, don't forget that Sawzall if you do need to cut. A couple hours in the shop or driveway is really all you need to get this thing in place before you're making some sweet music.
Wrapping this one up here, guys, the XP series dual exit catback from MBRP will be really appealing to a lot of truck owners out there for a few basic reasons. First and foremost, this thing sounds really good despite that small amount of drone. The 409-grade stainless, while not the absolute best material, is enough to fight off most corrosion out there, and you do have that lifetime warranty backing you up as well. Finally, guys, the pricing with the MBRP systems are going to be near impossible to beat.
