    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys, Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today I'm bringing you a quick overview and installation of the matte black or brushed black door pillar accents, which are available for all 2015 and newer SuperCab and SuperCrew F150s. So in this video I'll be going over the styling and appearance you can expect from the door pillar accents, as well as all the materials and construction that goes into it. I'll top the video off with the install, which I'll let you know upfront is going to be a very, very straightforward one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. The matte black or brushed black door pillar accents will be for any 2015 or newer SuperCab or SuperCrew F150 owner who might be looking to cover up those factory door pillars because of swirl marks from a bad detailing or if they're just worn out over time, especially from the sun. This will give you the option between a matte black finish and a brushed black finish in order to give you some customization and some stealth on the exterior appearance. Now, obviously, this is an extremely, extremely straightforward part here. As I lift that up, you can see exactly what we're working with, just a couple of decals that will cover up your factory door pillars. Now, you might be able asking, "Why would you wanna cover those up?" Now, number one, for styling and appearance, this does give you a more aggressive, stealthy look on the side profile of your F150, but it also does serve a function. Now if you've gotten your truck detailed or if you've just had it for a couple of years and it's just worn out and be sitting in the sun, especially if it's not taken care of, which we can all slack sometimes on, it can end up with swirl marks that are kinda hard to get out, if not impossible. Now this way, instead of replacing those door pillars in some way or spending all that money for repairs and detailing, you can just pick up a couple of decals that will cover it up. Not only does this look like it came on the car from the factory, but it also gives it a more aggressive appearance, as I said before. As far as materials and construction, these are manufactured right here in-house at American Muscle Graphics, using the highest quality four-mil wrapping cast vinyl available on the market today. Now this vinyl is specific for the body panels, not necessarily window, like window tint, and it also has a protective clear coat layer on top to make sure it survives through even the harshest weather for years to come. This also has special air release technology from AM Graphics that allows you to actually get it to be wrinkle-free and bubble-free, pushing out all the air trapped underneath the vinyl upon installation. This will get it to be stealthy smooth exactly like it is on this paper, with no bubbles, no wrinkles at all, for a smooth finish to make sure it looks like it came on the car from the factory. One of my favorite things about this product is absolutely gonna be the price tag because if you have that issue with your factory door pillars and you're looking for something like this, as far as the solution is concerned, this is just gonna run you about 20 bucks. 20 bucks to get you some high quality vinyls that last for years to cover up a problem that hasn't been probably available on your car for years. Now, if that has been an issue, 20 bucks takes care of it, with your choice of either the matte black, which is obviously just a gloss-less appearance, giving you just a flat black color for a stealthy appearance. Or, on the other hand, if you're looking for a bit more texture with no gloss, go for the brushed option. Either way you're looking at just about 20 bucks. Shifting gears over to the install portion of the video, like I said in the beginning, a very, very simple, straightforward install, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. You wanna make sure you clean the door pillars off properly before installing this just to free it of any dirt and dust, because the first installation will, of course, be your last, given that there really isn't much room for error. Now, once you do have this all cleaned up, you'll spray the front and back of the vinyl before applying it to the actual door pillar. And once you do apply, you'll have a little bit of room to play before it dries. But once it's on there you wanna make sure it's in the place properly. You'll just repeat the same process for each one of the pillars here and you'll be good to go.Overall, like I said, maybe an hour at the absolute maximum, start to finish, and a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Just to wrap things up here, if you're the owner of a 2015 or a newer F150 with a SuperCab or SuperCrew trim, you might be looking for a way to cover up those factory door pillars from maybe swirl marks from a bad detail job or just sun spots over time. If that sounds like you, you've got your option between the matte black or the brushed black door pillar accents, both of which are available right here at americanmuscle.com

Subtle Styling. The factory door pillar posts on your F-150 is known to have scratches or swirls in the finish, which can be an eye sore. If you have tried to clean and polish the pillar posts, only to have the marks re-appear, it may be time to look into the Matte Black Door Pillar Accents. These matte black decals are designed to apply on top of the door pillar posts, which will hide those swirls and scratches while giving your truck some  custom subtle styling.

Wrapping Cast Vinyl. AmericanTrucks Graphics uses only the highest quality 4 mil Wrapping Cast Vinyl available on today's market. Featuring a built-in protective clear coat layer, this wrapping cast vinyl is designed to last through at least 8 years of harsh outdoor weather. This 4 mil vinyl is far more durable when compared to similar products that were designed with thinner calendared vinyl film, which starts to degrade in just a couple of years.

Air Release Technology. Air Release Technology features miniature air channels on the adhesive side of the vinyl. This allows air to easily be squeezed out from under for a bubble-free installation and a smooth wrinkle-free surface.

Perfect Fit Guaranteed. AmericanTrucks Graphics vinyl designs have been test fit, refined, and tested again on our very own fleet of vehicles to assure a perfect fit every time.

Application. These high quality AmericanTrucks Graphics Matte Black Door Pillar Accent Decals are designed to fit all 2015-2019 SuperCab and SuperCrew F-150s.

      Quick and easy

A quick, inexpensive and easy way to bring an even clean look to the pillars which are prone to showing scratches and swirl marks. Looks better than factory now.

      Not for me

I LOVE every piece of vinyl I've added to my truck from AmericanTrucks.com, EXCEPT these. I don't understand why you need to either roll the edges, or make your own cuts/adjustments. No other pieces of vinyl from this website have required modification. To be clear - these are not cut to lay perfectly over your pillars. You either have to roll the extra material around the edges, or cut the extra material off on your own.

      Great Upgrade

This really improved the look of my original scratched plastic pillar covers. It's a nice visual improvement. I spent some extra time trying to slide the edges around window molding, etc.

      Doesn't fit correctly

These don't fit correctly. After applying both front and rear for one side and trimming I couldn't get them to look nice. After and hour of trying to get it to fit correctly I pulled off and threw in the trash. Glad these were only $20.

      Not the easiest install

Door pillars are rounded. There is enough wrap to go fill in the rounded area but I really think they should have cut them and not included the rounded edge. Trying to get it to stick is a pain. Im not sure what everyone else has done. I even messed up one of decals because of this. It was the one with the cut out for the number code. Guess Ill have to try and use a spare and cut it out myself.

      Door pillars

Overlays were too big for pillars. After trying to cut and trim the driver sides I just gave up and threw the whole set away.

      Great product with slight flaws

Looks really good. But doesn't line up perfectly for the number pad. Also, the passenger side is slightly shorter than the drivers side. However I managed to line it up as close as possible and it looks great. Took me about 30-45 minutes total and the bubbles were easy to get out. Great product overall.

      Very nice touch

Finished off the matte black look I was looking for also covered up the swirl marks because the plastic has no clear coat. I have read many reviews for this vinyl and other vinyls or customers are upset because of improper fitment I will tell you once again be patient some of them are cut a little larger so you have room on the edges to work with. If you don't know what you're doing have a professional do it if you have a good idea on how to use them don't be afraid to use a heat gun or a small pocket torch to heat up some edges so they will stick. This particular vinyl went on perfectly. I had to use my pocket torch to get it to stick around the sharp corners I have the keypad entry and I've had no issues.

      Worth it!

This is my second set. Ordered for my 2015 f150 and 2018 Raptor. Install takes a little patience but a little soap/water mix and squeegee and install is easy. Looks awesome and hides the scratches!

      Too thin.

Got the product and was putting on the drivers door with keypad cut out. Used the spray to keep it wet and movable. Was almost ready for final fit when it tore around the keypad. Needless to say off it came and was tossed out. Ordered the black stainless ones from my local ford dealer and installed.

      Nice Change

Simple install with the correct tools and patience. The matte finish works well with the rest of the factory trim and I am not looking at swirls in the gloss factory trim anymore! The keypad is the only gloss piece left, the wraps have a cutout for them, and the difference isn’t really noticeable, it actually compliments the wraps well.

      Hard to apply

These were the hardest accents I've ever had to apply so far to my truck. They did not fit well at all, I had to trim them down. They faught me tooth and nail to go on right. After a little fighting, I got them on and they look nice.

      Could use some work

The instructions that come with these give a very general explanation of how to install Vynil graphics, but not these vynils specifically. When began lining these up on my truck I found that there is about 1/8” of vynil hanging over the left and right sides of the pillar. I read through the product reviews and found that most people were wrapping that around the sides of the pillar and tucking it behind the weather stripping. I gave that a shot and found that without applying heat, they just simply would not stay put. So I began using a small propane torch to carefully apply heat to the overhangs and found that this made them stick much better. But not long after that I ended up damaging the vynil beyond repair while trying to tuck the overhangs. So I ended up not installing these. It does look like it has the potential to be a solid product. But if suggest maybe having these professionally installed. Even having a couple years experience of installing automotive window tint, I still failed to install these correctly.

      Didn't fit

Bought two sets, one in the Matte, one in the Brushed, and neither fit my 2015 SuperCrew. Top to bottom they were too long, which led to wrinkling when dried, and left to right the material is long enough that it looks like they wanted you to wrap it around the corner, but even on a perfectly clean surface I could not get the edges to stick. Brought out the heat gun to try and get some adhesion, but just ended up with melted, wrinkled edges, so they didn't stay installed. My truck has the keypad, and the cutout was the wrong size when lined up, and made the top/bottom fitment even worse.
