    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com, and this is my detailed review and install of the Magnaflow MF Series Cat-Back Exhaust system, featuring the dual same side exit configuration which dumps before the passenger side rear tire, available for your 3.5 liter EcoBoost-powered 2015 and up SuperCrew or SuperCab F-150. In this video, we're gonna cover three big topics. We're gonna talk sound you can expect here with the Magnaflow MF series, we're gonna talk about the materials used in this system, and then finally, we're gonna do a quick little walk through of the install itself. And honestly, to the most you guys out there, it's gonna be a one outta three wrenches on the difficulty meter, nothing too crazy here, so we'll have a little more detail coming up on that later on. The Magnaflow MF series Cat-Back here is gonna be a great choice for the newer EcoBoost owners out there who are after a really well-made system from a quality brand like Magnaflow. You want just a little bit more noise both inside and outside of the truck, and finally, and maybe more importantly, you want the very cool dual same side exit configuration that will dump before the passenger side of your tire. So again guys, this is just gonna be for someone who wants a little bit more sound and maybe isn't concerned with being the absolute loudest truck on the block. So with all that said, let's take a closer look at this Cat-Back. Magnaflow is definitely one of those companies that's known for making some pretty solid stuff overall, using 100% stainless steel for the most part, all of which is gonna fit great and produce some pretty well-rounded tone. Now the MF series that I have here certainly checks all of those boxes, and I think you'll find that this is just one of many different offerings for your EcoBoost-powered truck here on the site from Magnaflow. This particular option, again, that I have in this video is that very cool dual same side exit that will dump before the passenger side rear tire, much like the older SVT Lightnings. They also offer the same exact system a little longer that will dump after the rear tire, a little bit more traditional of a configuration. They also have the very popular dual split side exit system, and just a more traditional single side exit system as well. So again, as you can see, guys, they have just about something for everyone. Now, all these systems I just mentioned are gonna utilize the same MF series muffler here, guys. So don't expect a huge variation in tone from one system to the next. Instead, it's really just gonna boil down to what kinda look you're after with your exhaust, and how much dough you wanna spend. As far as the tone, you can expect when installing the MF series here, well, you guys heard the sound clips, ultimately you can be the judge, but in my opinion, guys, this is one of my favorite exhaust systems for the EcoBoost-powered trucks and here's why. You're getting just a little bit more tone over that factory system. Again, these are turbo V6 engines, a lot of us guys don't wanna really advertise that too much. We know it's not a V8, it'll never sound like a V8. So if you can get something that says, "Hey, I'm not stock, but at the same time not gonna drive the family crazy," well, again, this is gonna be a great system for you. Breaking out the wake the neighbor scale, I'm going strong, two out of five here, guys. Again, just slightly louder than your factory system. Interior noise is practically nonexistent. So a perfect choice for a daily driver or family hauler that does see a lotta road trips. But let's talk about how Magnaflow achieves that nice, deep tone here with their cat-backs. And as you might imagine, a lot of it's gonna come down to the MF series mufflers that they incorporate with a lot of their EcoBoost or truck systems in general. You're gonna find a perforated tube inside of the actual muffler itself, and also a combination of a stainless steel wrap and an acoustic material that does a great job of rounding out the sound with their systems. But again, you are getting that nice, deep, rich tone with the Magnaflow here, I like to call it a nice, full-bodied tone. You're not getting the high-end or raspy pitch with the Magnaflow systems whatsoever. So if that's what you're into, this is a great choice. You're also getting that straight-through muffler. Again, you might see a little bit more performance out of the truck with this system, but ultimately when you're adding a cat-back to your newer EcoBoost F-150, you're mainly making a sound and an appearance upgrade more so than a performance upgrade. Bringing down the fine details here with the construction, guys, you're gonna find three-inch mandrel bent tubing. It's a smaller system overall, as you can see. And of course, the three and a half inch brightly polish/cut tips, they look awesome when installed on the truck. Again, I really dig this style of system. You're looking at 409 grade stainless steel here throughout. Again, do a great job of reducing corrosion, help keep the price down slightly compared to those more expensive 304 grade systems. Everything's made in the U.S.A., and everything is backed by a lifetime warranty. On the topic of price, guys, I think you'll find a lot of the Magnaflow options here on the site for your F-150 are gonna fall on the higher side of the mid-level price range. And what does that mean to you? Well, these things aren't gonna set you back as much as the Corsa stuff or the Borla stuff for instance, but you are gonna be dropping just south of 1,000 bucks, which still is a good chunk of change, I'll give you that. You get the factory and you're getting some pretty solid materials and an A+ plus build quality. Now, if you really like the dual same side exit configuration but you have a really tight budget, MBRP's gonna make a few systems that'll give you this similar look, not gonna be as nice as the Magnaflow, but it'll definitely get you there if that's what you want. As I mentioned at the top of this video here, this is gonna be a simple one outta three wrenches on the difficulty meter when it does come time to get everything bolted up. In fact, removing your factory system, getting this new guy in place here, only gonna take you about an hour or two using some basic hand tools. And by basic, I'm talking 13 and a 15 millimeter socket, cordless impactor air will certainly help the job go a lot quicker, but overall, you can do this thing with basic hand tools on your back if need be. Now this is a SuperCrew or SuperCab specific truck, so go ahead and remove that factory system first. Get the new Magnaflow in place in reverse order starting from front to back, and you should be making noise in no time. As an EcoBoost owner myself, I really enjoy the Magnaflow MF Series Cat-Back based on the sound alone. Now again, a lot of us V6 owners don't exactly wanna crank up the volume like the V8 truck owners out there, and if that does sound like you, then I really do think you'll enjoy the system. Pair that with the quality build, the great materials, and the very cool dual same side exit configuration, and again, you get a great system if you don't mind spending close to 1,000 bucks. So that's my review of the Magnaflow MF Series Cat-Back, which you can find right here at americanmuscle.com.

Throaty Tone. A smooth tone is something that the Magnaflow MF Series Dual Same Side Exit Cat-Back System is specifically designed to give you. The MF Series Muffler goes above and beyond what most mufflers do, and offers you what other mufflers try to. This is done with a stainless mesh and acoustic fiber wrapping to manipulate the sound of your truck to a menace.

Dynamic Performance. For the Magnaflow MF Series Dual Same Side Exit Cat-Back Exhaust System, power is just as important as sound. This is why the system is engineered to allow for free-flowing exhaust. This gives it more torque and horsepower behind the rear wheels, as well as better fuel consumption.

American Made. This exhaust kit was made in the United States out of 409 mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing. This gives a long lasting piping made for a smooth exhaust flow. The system exits before your rear passenger tire and allows for an impressive look thanks to a pair of 3.5-inch stainless steel, polished tips.

Simple System Introduction. You don't need to be a professional mechanic to place the Magnaflow MF Series Dual Same Side Exit Cat-Back System where it needs to go. Actually, you just need a few hand tools and a couple hours of your time. The system comes with detailed instructions and hardware to get you on your way to a new exhaust system.

Application. The Magnaflow MF Series Dual Same Side Exit Cat-Back System is specifically designed to fit on all 2015-2019 SuperCab and SuperCrew F-150s powered by the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. Does not fit Regular Cabs and Raptor models.

Great sound, performance, and look but......

Just a heads up, but this exhaust causes a check engine light after a day or two. It speaks about this in the instructions but no clear remedy provided on it. Trying to figure it out now. Will be contacting Magnaflow...

      Good product, mediocre quality control

First, I want to say this.... the quality control issues I faced were NOT because of American Trucks, rather Magnaflow. For starters, the package was mishandled (carrier at fault there) and the hangers were bent. Once I got those straightened out, I discovered the provided resonator delete had a flange that was too large to fit snug with the stock pipe (nothing a little welding couldn't fix). I wound up cutting off the stock flange and welding it to the provided pipe (resonator delete). All is good, about 2 hrs of work. Truck sounds great and looks even better!

      Beware

Don't buy if you have a 6.5' bed on your truck unless your ok with modifying a exhaust that nearly costs $800 Even though it says it will fit it won't and forget call magnaflow the only thing they'll tell you is it should fit and send it back if it doesn't fit with no help to even try fixing the issue

      Awesome magnaflow exhaust

This exhaust was a breeze to install minus it not fitting the 6.5ft bed. I made this system work anyway. Just a little extra pipe and I was good to go. It really adds a sporty look with the side exit before the rear tire. Definitely more of an aggressive sound too. One of the best you can get out of this V6. Very happy with this exhaust and American Muscle with great service and support.
