    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

So the FOX Factory Series coil-overs that we're taking a quick look at today are gonna be a great and premium option for my 2015 through 2017 owners out there that wanna enjoy the most capable adaptive shock off-road and the most comfortable shock on-street, all in one package. Now installation wise here, guys, this is definitely something that's not for the weak or faint of heart, and it's going to be that much more involved than doing a leveling kit. Either way, you should expect a moderate one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here and around a four hour job depending on what kinda tools you have access to, along with having access to a lift. So the FOX 2.5 lets you literally hand adjust low and high compression and stiffness in a few seconds while it's on the truck, which is something that very few other shocks offer. Now this makes the FOX the ultimate shock for the guys who wanna tackle serious trails, while maintaining the best ride quality possible on the streets. Now in terms of what makes these great, FOX has been around for quite some time now and their equipment was stocked in the previous and current generation Raptor, and there's a good reason why. So these are gonna come to come equipped with FOX's DSC technology, which essentially means Dual Speed Compression. Now this adjuster provides added control and comfort tuning for on-road use, where your truck's gonna be spending most of it's time. But when you're hitting the trails, they're gonna offer more aggressive dampening as the adjuster will allow for precise tuning right on the knobs without needing to pull them off of your truck. And what all this essentially means is that the DSC increases both low and high speed compression levels up to 25%, allowing you to maximize small bumps and tracking, while still having the extra dampening for big hits on road or trails. Now they're also gonna allow 10 separate low and 12 high speed compression levels, which more or less means that no matter where you're gonna be going or running, you'll have the ability to fine-tune your setup anyway you see fit. But for construction here, guys, we're gonna be looking at a two and a half inch smooth bore and hone seamless alloy body that's then gonna be zinc-plated and double clear coated, which is gonna give them that great finish for years of abuse. Now in terms of the external reservoir, that's gonna be a two and half inch smooth bore 6061-T6 aluminum, that's then gonna be completed in an anodized black finish. So additionally we're then gonna see that they're gonna be wrapped in an adjustable [inaudible] racing spray. But the greatest aspect about these coil-overs is that they're gonna have a wide range of adjustability, which makes them a huge contender, in my opinion. But last but not least here, guys, FOX's coil-overs are outfitted with external reservoirs which not only look cool, but they're in place to keep oil and high pressure nitrogen separate. Now additionally, the JM92 fluids are gonna be optimal to ensure perfect operation no matter the temperature or climate where you're running your truck. But in terms of the pricing here, guys, this pair is gonna command one of the highest prices on the website at the time of shooting this video, and you should expect to be spending around 1,900 bucks to get these onto your truck. Now this really isn't a surprise in the slightest, as simply put, this is one of the most 4x4 capable road comfortable, adaptive, and convenient shock sets on the site at this time. So switching gears to the installation portion to the video, just like I had said up top, you are going to be looking at moderate one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here, about a three to four hour job based on the tools you're working with, and if you have access to a lift. Now if you don't have access to a lift, assaults and jack stands will be fine, but if you do have pneumatic tools, it is gonna make that job much easier on you. But either way, guys, here you are going to need the entire toolbox. I'm talking a full socket set, torque wrenches, along with a couple other odds and ends. Now to start, you're gonna wanna get your rig either up in the air, on a lift or stands, pull those wheels and tires, and then begin by disconnecting both outer tire rod ends right at the spindle. After that, remove the three top nuts that are holding the assembly in place, but make sure not to remove the center nut. And once you're done there, remove the one bolt connecting the shock to the lower control arm, and then set that aside. After that, you can then remove the stock shock assembly and you may or may not need to use a pry bar just to wiggle that out of position. After that guys, it's merely gonna be reinstalling your outer tire rod ends, getting your truck back on the ground, and then heading out for a solid alignment. So that's gonna wrap up my quick review and breakdown of FOX's 2.5 Factory Series front coil-overs with reservoirs and DSC adjusters for the zero through two-inch lift, fitting the 2015 through 2017 four-wheel drive F-150, that can be found right here at americantrucks.com.

Superior Ride Quality. Invest in your F-150's performance with the FOX 2.5 Factory Series Front Coil-over Reservoir with DSC Adjusters to provide up to 2.0" of Lift. This Factory Series F-150 Coil-Over features race developed high flow pistons, 3" racing springs from Eibach, and an adjustable external oil reservoir to provide optimum performance both on and off road to suit your F-150's needs.

External Reservoir. The FOX Reservoir comes equipped with an external reservoir to keep oil and high pressure nitrogen separate. The reservoir is filled with JM92 advanced suspension fluid to ensure performance in a wide range of temperatures and climates.

Built-in Adjusters. The FOX 2.5 Factory Series Reservoir feature Dual Speed Compression (DSC) Adjusters that allow you to fine tune your compression rates with the twist of two knobs. When you twist the Low Speed Compression (LSC) Adjuster Knob it provides 10 low-speed compression levels, while the High Speed Compression (HSC) Adjuster Knob provides 12 high-speed compression levels. This will maximize traction and small bump compliance while still having the damping that is needed for big hits.

Durable Construction. This F-150 Coil-Over Shock features a smooth, 2.5" metal impacted 6061-T6 aluminum body construction for superior durability. It is completed in a zinc plating and dual clear coat finish for a long lasting finish and features black anodized CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum. This shock is fitted with a 7/8" hardened NitroSteel carbon shafts to handle anything you throw at your truck during any on or off road adventures.

Bolt-On Installation. FOX designed this Coil-Over to be a bolt-on install that doesn't require any upgrades or modifications to your F-150, as it is a direct replacement for the stock front struts and springs. A bracket is included to mount the reservoir to the coil-over frame bumper providing a clean design for a reliable installation.

Application. This pair of Front FOX 2.5 Factory Series Coil-over Reservoirs with DSC Adjusters is designed to fit on all 2009 to 2018 4WD F-150s.  Does not fit SVT Raptor or 2WD F-150s.

Technical Note. You may experience some rubbing with the external reservoir when using 35" tires.

Will i need new shocks in the rear to fit with this package?

    • The FOX 2.5 Factory Series Front Coil-over Reservoirs with DSC Adjuster will work best with rear shocks and a matching rear lift.

Would I be able to put 35x12.5x18 tires

    • You may experience some rubbing with the external reservoir when using 35" tires. If you would like to use the FOX 2.5 Factory Series Coil-over Reservoirs w/ DSC Adjuster for 0-2 in. Lift, we would recommend a wheel spacer to create more clearance from the reservoir.

What is the process to adjust from 0 to 2" Is there a special tool required And can the adjustment be done easly, say at night. Plus where are the reservoir mounted to ? Thanks

    • There are two knobs that you will have to twist in order to adjust the height. The reservoir can be mounted in multiple positions as long as there is not much tension on the line.

have a pro comp 6" lift what coilovers do you recommend for a lifted truck

    • With a 6" lift, we do not recommend installing a drop in coilover kit like this. We would recommend a dedicated coil over lift kit.

Hello im probably buying these in the next month or so with the matching rear shocks. I just wanted to know do they ship them set at 0 lift or at 2 inches, And from 1 to 10 how difficult is it to adjust the height. Thank you

    • There are two knobs that you will have to twist in order to adjust the height and it will not be difficult to alter the height on your truck.

I’m in the oil field and drive a lot of dirt roads and the stock shocks would beat you up. I installed the Fox 2.0 front and rear first. They were a huge improvement to stock. I then installed the Fox 2.5 front and rear and it’s like I’m floating down the road. I highly recommend these shocks.
