The mid-pipe is responsible for connecting the catalytic converters up front to the mufflers in the rear. The stock aluminized steel Ford F-150 mid-pipe incorporate a resonator throughout its length that not only hampers the exhaust gas flow, but mutes the sound of the engine too. Be it an EcoBoost or Coyote, upgrading the restrictive 2015-2016 Ford F-150 OEM mid-pipe with an aftermarket unit is an effortless way to eliminate some backpressure and allow for a more fluid transfer of the exhaust. Mid-pipe resonator delete kits bolt in place of the stock unit and do away with the resonator all together, leaving a straight mid-pipe that not only flows well but produces a more satisfying exhaust note. Extended mid-pipes (also bolt-in) are sometimes required on select 2015-16 Ford F-150 depending on the exhaust configuration and bed length. Both resonator delete mid-pipes and extended mid-pipes are made of T304 stainless steel, which is more durable and has a greater resistance to corrosion over aluminized steel, thus lasting longer in any sort of driving condition. These pipes are made tough, just like the truck they go on.
