Hey guys. Adam here with americantrucks.com, and today we're taking a closer look at and of course installing the Version 2 LED Light Bar Tail Lights in black, available for all '09 to '14 styleside F-150s. You should be checking these out if you're looking to ditch the traditional outdated factory chrome and red flashy taillights in favor for some modern taillights with an upgraded LED technology. The DRL or daytime running light design you see here is typically something you're seeing on a lot of new generation trucks. If you're looking at new F-150s you'll see a lot of DRL headlights, some DRL taillights, and these guys are definitely gonna fit that bill. The '09 to '14 trucks here are getting a little outdated. So, switching over to a black sturdy interior housing with the DRL light bar design, both upper and lower, and LEDs, is really gonna modernize your truck's exterior appearance. Now, in this particular case, it keeps the overall general interior design as far as placement, but you're gonna get the C-shaped DRL upper and lower to operate with your taillights when you turn those guys on. You get nine individual bright red LEDs for the upper and lower for your brake lights and your turn signals. And then finally, you're gonna be reusing the factory reverse light instead of upgrading that to an LED. Now, there are some other options out there that offer that built-in as an LED, not gonna be the case here, but personally, I don't mind that at all, the rest of the taillight here makes up for it with a pretty good look. Now, the brighter more attractive technology is gonna be a lot safer as well while staying DOT compliant. This particular kit comes in at around 350 bucks. And the clear lens here gives you the appearance of a smoked taillight without hindering any light output. If you're looking for a smoked option, you can get one for right around the same price tag on the site as well for the '09 to '14 gen. Now, the install gets one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. That goes without saying. This is a plug-and-play design, no splicing, not even for the DRL light bar. Can't say that for all of the taillights out there. So, definitely easy on the install. Now, this will take you about 30 minutes or so from start to finish. Simple hand tools required. Let's get started.Tools used in this install include an impact gun or a ratchet and an 8-millimeter socket. All right. Step number one, grab an impact gun or a ratchet and an 8-millimeter socket and remove the two bolts holding on your factory tail light. I'm gonna start on our driver's side. All right. From there, you're just gonna pull straight back. All right. At this point, we're gonna twist out our bulb socket and pop it out. Do the same thing for the bottom and the reverse light. All right. Set this aside. All right. With the taillight out of the way, what you're gonna do is pinch and disconnect the bulb socket. All right. Set that aside. They're not being reused. So, upper and lower. Keep the reverse light, that will get reused. Make sure that O-ring is still there for a weather-tight seal. So, we got our driver's side taillight off of our '10 F150 here, and it's on our tailgate sitting next to our new Version 2 taillights. And I wanna show you guys some similarities and differences between the two kits. And there really are only two similarities, construction and overall design layout. Now, construction-wise, this is all OEM-quality materials, OEM-quality housing, OEM-quality polycarbonate clear lens. And as far as design layout, you can still see, it keeps the general interior layout. We have a taillight up top, taillight on the bottom, up top and bottom, and it's got the reverse light in the middle with some reflectors on the side. So, overall, same design, but it's got a modernized feel to it. A lot of these new gen trucks use DRLs and that's what you get here. It's gonna have a daytime running light in the C-shape top and bottom surrounding your interior taillights and turn signals. The DRL is gonna be a nice bright red with these clear or white housings. Now, the inside of the housing on the back here is a matte black, as opposed to the chrome and bright red trim. This is really tacky, really flashy, very traditional. This black housing here gives the impression of the smoked lens without actually smoking it, impeding light output. Now, the interior here inside of the DRL gets nine individual brake lights that will operate with your brake and your turn signals and hazards, goes up top and bottom as well. The front here gets three reflectors on each side, and the interior or the middle there will use your reverse light from the factory, that factory incandescent bulb. Now, there are some taillights out there for different gens that do have LED reverse lights if you're looking to pay a bit more money. Not gonna be the case here, but, honestly, not a big gripe for me, personally. Overall, the taillight looks really cool. Now, on the back, big selling point here on the back, plug-and-play. You'll see these two harnesses will plug right into the factory harnesses for top and bottom, and you get a bulb socket right in the middle there for your reverse. So, what we're gonna do first, peel off the sticker and then get to the install. All right. Now, when you're plugging these guys in, it is super simple. It only plugs in one way, just plug in the top harness from your new taillights into the top harness from the vehicle. You'll listen for that click. Do the same thing on the bottom here. And finally, when you start to go tuck this guy in, it gets a little tight, but it's doable. Pop the reverse light socket into the new housing. Only lines up one way, so just flip it around until it snaps in and then give it a twist. All right, and then twist to lock it in place. Now you can install it. All right. Now, we can use the factory hardware to bolt this guy back down. All right. Repeat that on the other side. That's gonna wrap up for my Review and Install for the Version 2 Light Bar LED Tail Lights in black, available for all '09 to '14 styleside F-150.
