Jake: Jake here for AmericanTrucks. And today, I've got the Aeroskin Hood Protector in Matte Black for 2021 and newer F-150s, excluding the Raptor and Tremor models. Adding a hood deflector is one of the best and easiest ways to protect your F-150's paint. And this Aeroskin hood protector provides you with a sleek, low-profile design that looks cool and add some extra armor to the front end of your truck without breaking the bank.If you've ever been driving down the road and had something fly up and hit the front end of your truck, you've had that sinking feeling in the pit of your gut wondering just how bad the damage is gonna be. But if you wanna avoid that feeling altogether, then a hood protector is a great option for you. Now, this Aeroskin unit might be one of the coolest out there because it just looks so right on the front of the truck.Unlike a lot of other hood protectors, it features a really sleek, low-profile design that matches the lines of the hood on your F-150 perfectly. So, this one isn't gonna stick up or impact visibility anyway. It runs right along the edge of the hood, and it blends in very nicely with the styling of the truck. It also extends a little bit onto the leading edge of the hood here, so it's gonna protect the area that is probably one of the most susceptible to rock chips and other debris. Now, this one is made from injection-molded ABS plastic, and it's designed to be 0.11 inches thick. So, it's gonna be able to stand up to those rocks and other debris like bugs, dirt, whatever may happen to be out there. This is a really durable material that still has a little bit of give to it. So, that means it's not gonna shatter or crack like something more brittle might. It's gonna be able to absorb that impact, and it's also gonna be able to withstand the elements. And as you can see, this one is finished in matte black. So, this is gonna match the other plastic trim on your truck or just provide a nice contrast with any other paint color. Now, this is not see-through, so it looks like an additional piece of trim as opposed to appearing like one of those more old-school style hood protectors that's more of a smoked lighter plastic type of deal that you can actually see through. Now, that's not as big a deal here since this one isn't gonna stick up, so, again, not impacting your visibility. Now, as far as these sorts of things go, this is a little bit more expensive than most, but not quite the tippy top of the market. It's still gonna run you about $150. I really don't think that's too bad considering how well this integrates with the styling of your truck, the quality of the construction, and the fact that getting your hood fixed or repainted is gonna cost quite a bit more than this.Installation is also very easy, coming in at a one out of three on our difficulty meter. It's purely a peel-and-stick sort of setup with this double-sided tape that's already installed and ready to mount. Should only take you about 15 minutes to get this done, just make sure that your hood is clean and prepped before you start peeling this off and attempting to stick it on. And to walk you through that process now, let's head on over to the install bay.Man: Tools required for this install include the included alcohol prep pads and surface prep pad. What's up, guys? Today I'm gonna be showing you how to install a hood protector on your F-150, so let's get started. Now, first step, I'm gonna go ahead and put a caliper hanger into our latch, that way we can pull our hood down a little bit, have a little bit of a gap, and then we can line up our edges properly. So, now we'll take our alcohol prep pad and clean up our surface. We're gonna be working from the bottom of the front of the hood up until this body line right here. So, now we'll come in with our surface prep pad and do the same exact thing. So, to install our hood protector, we have double-sided tape on the inside. So, what we're gonna do is pick up the corners of the double-sided tape and dog ear them over so they're overlapping our edge that way we can place our hood protector down, get it into place without it getting stuck down, and then we can go ahead and peel back our tape once it's in a spot that we like it.So, we're gonna go ahead and grab on the corner of our double-sided tape backing, and then we can fold it over the edge so that it overlaps. And then once we get this on the truck, we can pull back our double-sided tape and mount it down to the truck. And then we'll go ahead and do that same thing for the rest of our corners. And then now once we have all of our corners dog-eared over the edge, we can get this installed onto the truck. So, now we can lay our hood protector onto the truck and get it lined up. And then once we have everything lined up the way we like it, we can start pulling on our double-sided tape strips. You're gonna be pulling away from our hood protector, that way we don't risk breaking our double-sided tape. So, that'll wrap up this review and install of the Aeroskin Hood Protector in Matte Black for your 2021 to current F-150, excluding the Raptor and the Tremor. Thank you for watching. And, remember, for all things F-150, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
