Justin: Barricade's T4 side step bars here in black are currently one of the most popular options available for the 2019 and newer Silverado crowd who might be looking at a functional and stylish set of bars but without breaking the bank. Now, the T4s here will combine a burly steel build along with a durable black powder coat, two sizable traction areas, and all of your hardware and bracketry for right around 250 bucks. Installation, at least according to the site, is going to get a pretty strong one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, take about an hour or two to complete from start to finish as we'll demonstrate later in the video. So if you just picked up a 2019 or newer Silverado and you maybe missed out on the factory side side steps, or maybe you're just looking to switch up the look of those factory steps, the Barricades are going to would be a very well-built option at a very affordable price point. But let's start with the overall design, and at first glance, I do really dig these because in my opinion, they're almost a hybrid between a traditional Nerf bar and a running board. Now I say that because the T4s feature a similar layout to that of a Nerf bar, but in a more square or rectangular shape. But like a Nerf bar, you are getting a sporty look here with the two designated traction surfaces for both the front and rear passengers. Now these traction surfaces, I would say are about 4 to 5 inches wide and about a foot and a half long. Now the surfaces are going to feature a durable non-slip plastic material, which is then going to kind of ride on that bar itself. Now the bars again are extremely solid thanks to that heavy-duty steel construction, which is then finished off in a very slight textured satin black powder coat, which is gonna help prevent that steel from any long-term rust or corrosion. Now, Barricade does also include the necessary brackets to get everything installed. And those have also been built from tough steel and given that same black powder-coated treatment. But one thing in particular I really did like here with the Barricade steps is that they do kind of stick out a good bit from that lower rocker area on your Silverado, which is gonna do two things for you. First and foremost, it's actually gonna be the step feel maybe a little bit bigger than it really is, as you're not gonna have to worry about stepping on the bar with your toes, maybe stubbing your toe on that lower rocker area. Instead, because the bar does protrude a little bit, you can land on the bar with the middle of your foot and still have some room for your toe on the other side or the inside portion of the bar itself, which, listen, if you have big feet like me, it's a nice thing to point out. Secondly, because the bar does stick out a good bit, it's gonna serve as kind of a shield or first-line of defense against parking lot door dings, as the bar, the T4s here are likely going to absorb all impacts first, which in turn is going to leave your doors unharmed. But, guys, this is a great time to remind you, check out our detailed customer review section here at americantrucks.com if you haven't done already, because it's a great way to get some real-world feedback from fellow Silverado owners out there who've actually installed these steps and are going to give you their real actual thoughts. Now, while you're there, you can also check out some customer-submitted images just to see how the Barricades might look on your rig at home. But now we want to show you a little bit more about how to get these things bolted up to your 2019 and newer Silverado at home. So without further ado, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown right now.Man: The tools used for this install are a ratchet, 13-millimeter socket, and a Phillips head screwdriver. So we got a pretty simple install for you today. It's gonna only require a couple of simple hand tools to get the job done. I'm gonna walk you through every step of the process and show you what you need to do. So let's get started.I'm gonna start by loosely installing my brackets to these threaded inserts here that are already installed in the body from the factory. I'm gonna use the bolt, washer, and lock washer. Like I said, I'm gonna leave these all loose until I have everything bolted together. And then I'll go back and tighten down all my hardware. There's a series of four brackets that need to be installed along the pinch weld of the body, and I'm just gonna repeat the same exact process for all four of them.Once you have all four of your brackets installed to the body loosely, you can then go back and install your side step bar to the brackets and get all your bolts started. Before I can set my side step bar onto my loosely installed brackets, I actually need to pre-install my bracket covers with the provided screw clips. So I'll slide those into place, put the clips through the hole, and then I will tighten down with a Phillips head screwdriver. And then I'll just repeat that process for the remaining brackets. Now I can sit my side step bar onto my brackets, line up my bolt holes, and get my hardware started. You can see why I left my brackets loose. This allows me to get the bolt holes lined up perfectly so that I can my hardware properly, and then I'll go back and tighten it all down with a 13-millimeter socket. Now I can take my 13-millimeter socket on my ratchet and tighten up all of my hardware. And that's gonna wrap up this review and install of the Barricade T4 side step bars in black, fitting your 2019 to 2020 Silverado. Thanks for watching and for all things Silverado, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
