Simple installation for anyone.
Hey, guys. Joe from AmericanTrucks. And today, I'm gonna be reviewing and showing you how to install the Barricade HD Running Boards fitting all '09 to '14 SuperCab and SuperCrew F-150s. These are going to be perfect for the F-150 owner who's looking to add some running boards that are going to give you a secure place to plant your foot and want something that's going to double at some side protection for your truck. These running boards are manufactured out of a steel plate and tube and is then finished in a fine black powder coating which is not only going to add to the looks, as you can see it matches the black accents on our '13 F-150 perfectly, but are also going to seal the running boards to give it a layer of protection from any rust or corrosion. These running boards feature a drop step design which makes it great when you're getting in and out of the truck, you have a nice low spot to plant your foot, which is great for a lifted F-150. But, if you are on stock ride height, you do lose a little bit of ground clearance here and that is something to consider. With that being said, these are also designed to take an impact for your truck. So, you have to weigh the pros and cons depending on what ride height your truck is at. These sidesteps also feature a grated pad here for your foot which again when getting out of the truck is great and gives you a nice secure spot to plant your foot and lift yourself in or drop yourself out of the truck. Pricing for these running boards is going to start around 400 bucks. And that's not a bad price to pay, it's exactly where this design comes in depending on the manufacturer. There are some more with a similar design that costs more, this one is on the low end for this double drop step running board design. Also included in that is a three-year limited manufacturer's warranty from Barricade.Install for these is going to be an easy one out of three. We're looking at around one to two hours to get these installed on your truck. There's no drilling, we're going to be using all factory mounting positions. So without any further ado, let me show you how it's done. Tools required for this install are going to be a ratchet, 17-millimeter wrench, 13-millimeter wrench, 13-millimeter socket, and a 16-millimeter socket. So, this is the mounting point for side steps on our '13 F-150. And as you can see in these two upper holes, there's no threads. So what we're going to do first is install these J-clips that come included in the kit.So, at this point, we can put our bracket in place and these aren't specific to front, middle or rear, these are universal. Now once you have it lined up you can secure with the longer 13-millimeter bolt include in the kit. And there's two of those, so we're going to do the same thing for the other side. There's also two holes on the bottom here that go straight through and we're going to secure those with the shorter 13-millimeter bolt, flat washer, lock washer, and 13-millimeter nut all included in the kit. Now, at this point, you can run through all these with a 13-millimeter socket and tighten them down. But I think it's a good idea to actually save that step for last, as you can see, when they're just hand tight, that gives you a little bit of wiggle room to move this side to side, to make some much-needed adjustments when we're near the end of the install. So, it's going to be the same process for the middle bracket here. We're going to install both of our J-clips, then the longer 13-millimeter bolt to secure our bracket, then the shorter 13-millimeter bolt, flat washer, lock washer, and nut to secure the bottom two. And it's going to be the same thing for the rear bracket. So with all the brackets in place and ready to go, we're now ready to hang up a running board and secure it with the 16-millimeter bolt, the 17-millimeter nut, and a couple of flat washers that come included in the kit. So, with the running boards on the truck and all the hardware hand tight, we can now make any adjustments we need to make sure these are seated correctly and tighten down all that hardware. Again, the running boards to the bracket bolt is 16-millimeter, the nut is 17-millimeter, and then brackets to the truck are all 13-millimeter. And that is going to do it for my review and install of the Barricade HD Steel Running Boards fitting all 2009 to 2014 SuperCab and SuperCrew F-150s. Thank you for watching.
