Hey, guys. It's Sara with americantrucks.com and today, we have a review and install of the BAK Industries BAKFlip G2 Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover, fitting your '19 a newer Silverado 1500. This is perfect for the Silverado owner looking for the security of a hard tri-fold tonneau cover and wants one of the lowest profile options available. This low profile tri-fold tonneau cover is constructed from solid panels with aluminum skins that can hold up to 300 pounds of evenly distributed weight. This tri-fold folds all the way up to the bulkhead of your truck, providing complete bed access and it does not cover your stake pocket holes. This tonneau features an integrated buckle system as well as auto locking panels that can be locked in three positions. So, as far as price goes, this one comes in at around $900, making it middle of the road price-wise when compared to all tonneaus and on par price-wise with other hard tri-folds. And for your money, you're getting one of the low profile options on the market.I'm giving this install one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It features a direct bolt-up install with no cutting or drilling and can be done within 30 minutes. So, with that said, let's jump into our install. For this install, you will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a deep 14-millimeter socket, and a ratchet. All right, so the first step in our install, you're going to grab the rail, either driver or passenger. This silver bracket will face inwards and lay it on the edge of your bed. Make sure it's butted up nice and tight against the bulkhead, then grab your brackets and let's get them installed. I like to start with the middle of the rail. So grab your bracket and place it right along the middle pin bolt up, whichever one you like, but I feel like this one holds it a little easier. Grab a 14-millimeter socket and tighten this down.Next up, we're gonna install the bracket at the rear. This one we're gonna try to get about 12 or so inches from the back of the rail. But basically wherever you can get a nice, clean clamp will work. Try to get as far back as you can. Grab your 14-millimeter socket. We're gonna tighten this down and, as we're tightening, it can't hurt to put a little downward pressure on the rail. Now, I'm working towards the front of the rail installing the clamp. Make sure the ridges on the clamp line up with the ridges on your rail. Again, we're working about 12 or so inches from the bulkhead. Try to just make sure they're spaced evenly, put a little bit of downward pressure on the rail, grab your socket, and tighten it down. Now, we can set the other rail on the driver's side. Same as the passenger side, set it round top of the bed, make sure it's nice and tight against the bulkhead and we're shooting for our center bracket. Going for the back part, now again about 12 inches from the back. Make sure this tab is contacting this part of the bottom of the bracket. Just double check that they're all in there properly. And, finally, install the front bracket. All right, at this point, we can grab the cover and set it on top of the rails. A friend might make this step a little easier. We're gonna go about 6 to 8 inches away from the bulkhead because once we open up the cover, it does need to slide out. Make sure that the weatherstripping of this front panel is nice and even over the bulkhead. All right, now at this point with the cover laid out and even over the bulkhead, we can take a second to install these clips. Now, these are gonna sit right here right over top of this panel. You do need to install these sleeves in from the other side. This is a through-hole so it just presses in from the opposite side. And now, these can fall out, so I just wanna keep a hand on them, lay the clip over top and these two Phillips head screws go in this opening and then they thread in to that sleeve that we just installed. So, using a Phillips head screwdriver, I just wanna get this side started a little bit. Here we go. Line up the other hole. With both of the screws lightly installed, grab your Philips and tighten these down. You may need to put a finger on the opposite side just to hold it still while you get these tight. All right, now we can repeat that process on the other side. All right, so at this point, you can install the clamps that attach the cover to the rails. You're gonna grab this threaded piece with a rubber washer on it, and it's gonna go right through this opening here. There may be a piece of foam on the back. You can discard that. Make sure it's pressed in all the way. And then when you fold the cover down the threaded parts should go through the silver brackets on your rails. Repeat that process on the other side. And when the threaded portion that you can see it comes through the bracket, we're gonna install a rubber washer, a washer, and a lock washer over the stud. And then pressing down on the cover, install the knob on the bottom. And you can lightly tighten for now. You can always adjust this later. Repeat that process on the other side. All right, pushing down on the top of the cover or pushing up on the bracket, expose a couple of threads and then you can install the knob. And, again, tighten this down snug. We can always adjust it later. Next, we're gonna attach the drain tubes. This goes over this post on the end and either you can stick it into this hole here, which might need to be a little widened out. It is kind of tight when you try to put the tube in. This might take a little bit longer to get it in there or you can pop this plug here and run it this direction instead. All right, so now we're gonna install these rubber bumpers. They go right along the edge here, and they're just a precaution for when the cover is up in this position. If it does lean back towards your truck, there's something between your truck's paint and the glass and this cover. Now, it really should never get back this far, but it is, kind of, nice to have these just in case. So, peel back the adhesive, stick it right there and then in case it ever does go back that far, you have that buffer.Next, we're gonna place the center one. I like to do [inaudible 00:07:36] this center even with the third brake light, just make sure it's pressed down nicely. And then the final one is gonna go in the opposite corner. So, at this point, you can fold your cover down. Just take a look at how each of the panels lands. Make any adjustments if you need. You can shut your tailgate and then close your cover. And that's going to do it for the review and install of this Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover. And remember, for all things Silverado, keep it at americantrucks.com.
