Hey, guys, Joe from AmericanTrucks. And today, we're gonna be working with the Wire Mesh Upper Replacement Grille in black, fitting all '15, '16, and '17 F-150s, excluding the Raptor models. This is gonna be an awesome choice for any F-150 owner who's looking for a blackout stealthy styling for the front of their truck for a budget-friendly price. We have an aggressively-styled steel frame around the edges. In the middle, we have that wire mesh. It's all finished in a black powder coating, which is not only there to add to the looks. Like I said earlier, this will tie together a blackout look for the front of your truck perfectly. It's also going to serve as a layer protection from the elements. Now, this guy is going to be a direct fit. You will need to transfer over your shutter assembly behind the grille. But other than that, this is going to be a drop-in replacement for the front of your F-150. So, whether your factory grille is just in need of a styling upgrade or it's a little bit damaged, this is going to be the perfect option for you. Another thing that's great about this one is if your truck is optioned with a forward-facing camera, this is compatible, it'll just sit right behind that wire mesh.Pricing for this upper grille is going to come in right around that $200 mark. And for what this adds to the front of your truck in terms of styling, I really do think that is money well-spent. On top of that, I was looking at some name brands for this grille right here that look almost identical, and I couldn't find any that aren't at least $600. Usually, these hover right around the $1,000 mark to get this look for the front of your F-150. Install is going to be extremely easy. Like I said earlier, this is a direct replacement for the factory grille, so there's no cutting, no modification to get this installed on your truck. You should be able to get it done in about an hour or two in the driveway with some basic hand tools. And that makes it a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. So, without any further ado, let me show you what tools you'll need and how it's done.Tools required for this install are going to be an impact or ratchet, small extension, 10, 8, and 7-millimeter sockets, a trim panel removal tool, Phillips head screwdriver. And like I said earlier, we will be transferring over our shutter assembly, so the grille will be face-down on the table. I put a microfiber rag down just to protect it from getting scratched up. So, the first step to our install here, obviously, we're gonna pop the hood, and then we can go about removing all the push pins on the top of our grille here, and there are plenty of them. I'm gonna use a trim panel removal tool to get them out of there. So, we're gonna remove these two holding on the air dam here. Also, this guy on the body-color piece right here needs to come out as well because we'll be pulling this back to get at the hardware to remove the grille. Now, this is ripped a little bit, but this piece here should be underneath this push pin, so we're gonna remove that too. Same thing on the other side. So, now, I'm just gonna pull up on the ram air here, back that toward the truck, and then lift up, and it should pull right off. So, now you can see there's four bolts holding our grille onto the truck here, the outside two are 8-millimeters and these inside two are 10. Now, we have to disconnect these two plugs. And to do that, just push down on the tab to release, and then pull straight up. So, like I said earlier, there's still some hardware for our grille underneath this blue body-color-headlight-surround piece. Now, we need to get that out of here. We already removed that push pin that holds it on up top. We're just gonna come to the wheel well. There's two 7-millimeter bolts holding it on back here. Then, we can just pry the whole thing off. So, now we have all the hardware removed. We're just gonna grab an edge, and it should pop loose. That piece should pull right off the truck. Same thing for the other side. So, now we can see the rest of our hardware here. We removed this push pin earlier. There's two more, one here and one here. We're gonna remove those right now. And then, we're gonna come down here with an extension and the 8-millimeter socket again, and get this pulled out of the way too. Now, we're gonna do the same thing for the other side. That should be it as far as hardware holding on our grille. So, we're just gonna grab the slats here and pull straight back, they should come right off the truck. So, now we have our factory grille off the truck. And I have it on the table, and you can see, on the back of it, we have this huge shutter assembly here. That's just for some aerodynamics. We have to transfer that over to our new grille. It's held on with four push pins across the top, and in each corner, there is a 10-millimeter nut. So, we're gonna remove the four push pins and the nuts and transfer this over to our new grille. Now, ours is missing, but right in the middle here, in between the two sets of shutters on either side, there should be an 8-millimeter bolt there. Get that out of the way, and then we can pull the grille and the shutter assembly apart. So, we're just about ready to install our shutter assembly onto our new grille. But before we do, I figured now would be the perfect time to sit it next to that old factory grille and point out some of the key differences here. And the first and most obvious, it's gonna come in the styling department. We're losing this whole factory plastic look, the three bars, the Ford emblem in the middle for some straight-up steel wire mesh over here. But I think it pulls off the job nonetheless. If you were going for the blackout look, this is going to be a great option for you. Compared to the plastic over here, we have a steel frame all the way around the edge, and then we have that wire mesh all the way throughout, it's all black powder-coated. That's going to be great for protection from the elements. That wire mesh is also going to be great for airflow as well, just freeing up basically what this covers up from the factory. Now, before we drop this in, there is a little bit of assembly we have to do. We have to get some adapter brackets installed on this to install our shutter assembly, and then this can drop right onto our truck. So, you can see the layout here on the table of the first set of brackets we're going to install. Those are going to go over right here, just like so, and we're gonna tighten that down with the Phillips head screws included in the kit and the 7-millimeter nuts. Now, you can see the other bracket we have set up here for you. This is gonna get installed in the same way with the slotted tooth sort of facing up right there. And this largest bracket here, that's going to get installed on the bottom just like that. Now, we're gonna go over to the other side and do the same exact thing. And we're gonna come up here and wrap up this top bracket that's gonna get installed just as a mirror of the other side. Now, we can run around all these, tighten them down with the Phillips head screwdriver and the 7-millimeter socket. So, now we can grab our shutter assembly. We're just gonna put this on top here and line it up with all of our brackets. And then, we're gonna go around with the factory hardware and secure this. One thing I did wanna note is those four brackets for the push pins, they're supposed to go underneath of the shutter assembly so the weight of this can rest on those brackets once it's installed on the truck. And now that we have the push pins in to sort of line us up here, you take that factory hardware, poke that up through. And we're just gonna take the factory 10-millimeter nuts, get that started, and tighten them down. So, at this point, we're just gonna drop the grille onto the truck here, and we're gonna secure it with those bottom bolts on either side. Again, they're 8-millimeters. We're gonna get those push pins started as well. Same thing for the other side, we're gonna get that 8-millimeter bolt in, and then push these push pins in to get that seal on the air dam here. Now, we're gonna secure the four bolts up top again on our truck. The outer ones are 8-millimeters, and the inner two are 10. And while we're up here, we're also going to plug in these harnesses as well. Now, we can clip back in this body-color piece. And, again, that's just a firm press to clip it into place. And it secures with the two 7-millimeter screws right here in front of the tire. Now, these are only threading into plastic, so if you're using the impact like I am, just be gentle here, these don't need to be tightened down very hard. And to follow that up, we're just gonna do the same exact thing on the other side. So, now we can get this rubber cover back in place. We're just gonna pull up on the air ram scoop here and get that lined up. Now, we can secure that with the push pins. One thing you don't wanna forget, that body-color piece secures on the top with a push pin. Don't forget those as well. And that is gonna do it for my review and install of the Wire Mesh Upper Replacement Grille in black, fitting all '15, '16, and '17 F-150s, excluding the Raptor models.
