Review & Install Video
Hey, guys. I'm Alex from americanmuscle.com. Today, I'm bringing you my detailed review and breakdown of the TruXmart tri-fold tonneau cover, fitting the 2015 through 2017 F-150 with a five and a half-foot bed. So you should be checking out the TruXmart tri-fold tonneau cover for your F-150 if you're going to be after, hands down, one of the most affordable tri-fold options out there at the time of shooting this video from a very trusted brand, and one that again is going to be giving you a very convenient access to get into your bed, as opposed to a hinge style or a rollup style. This is going to offer protection for your gear or tools, and make sure that any type of rain, sleet, or snow is not going to come into contact with what you're hauling. But the main point that I really like about this is going to be the tri-fold design, which essentially means that you can do it three-quarter, full, or all the way open. What that essentially means is just that it's very convenient if you need to pull over and grab something out of your bed pretty quick. The skeleton itself here is going to be manufactured out of aluminum, and it's then going to be powder-coated. Now, something I really like about this in comparison to others, maybe even like the Tonno Pro that I have on my own truck, is that aluminum is going to be that much lighter than steel. You're not going to have to worry about it rusting. But what you're paying for is really going to be up top here. That's going to be a 24-ounce, triple-grade, marine-style fabric. It's incredibly tough, it's very durable, and it's not something that's going to be fading very quickly over the years. Now, for the sake of argument here, guys, run that in comparison to a Tonno Pro, which while it's going to have an aluminum frame and a triple-threaded style fabric up top, it's going to set you back about $530. Something to keep in the back of your head when you're shopping for a tri-fold design tonneau cover. So last, but not least, it's been widely argued that tonneau covers will help in your fuel consumption, due to the fact that you're creating less drag when air goes over the back of your truck. Now, I'm not here to tell you that by putting one of these on your truck, you're going to be saving $50 at the pump every other week, or every week. It's just something to keep in the back of your head, because most if not all of these are advertised as saying they're going to help with your fuel consumption. At the end of the day, you likely didn't buy your F-150 because of its stellar gas mileage, and you probably had other reasons why you wanted to get into it. So in terms of what this thing is going to do to your wallet, you should expect to be spending only about $260, which at the time of shooting this video is going to make this one of the more affordable tri-fold options out there in comparison to either a hinge design or a rollup design. At the end of the day, you're going to be getting some quality-built materials here. It's going to protect your gear and keep prying eyes off of it, as well as just again making the backend of your truck look that much more streamlined. So switching gears to the installation portion of the video, just like I had said up top, you're looking at an incredibly easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, probably about 5 to 10 minutes to get this onto your truck. You might want to have a second set of hands around. But honestly, I did this by myself on my own truck. It took me more time to get this out of the box than it actually did onto my truck itself. You're going to want to pull it right out of the box, essentially work it all the way up to the cab. Then, unclip it, unfold it back, get underneath, and then hit your clamps underneath your bed rails. That's honestly it. You're looking at a very, very, very easy, no-brainer, one out of three-wrench install here on the difficulty meter, and again less than five minutes. For the F-150 owner out there that is looking to get into a very affordable, but quality-built tri-fold tonneau cover in comparison to some of the other options out there, that's going to make the backend of your truck look that much cleaner, protect your gear, and keep prying eyes off of it, I would definitely recommend checking this out for your truck. So that's my detailed review and breakdown of the TruXmart tri-fold tonneau cover, fitting the 2015 through 2017 F-150 with the five and a half-foot bed, which can be found right here at americanmuscle.com.
