Silverado Off-Road Lighting/Headlights

It’s far from uncommon to come across a Silverado with auxiliary lighting attached to the truck. The lighting available for trucks arrives in a variety of configurations. You may find a light bar spanning the roof of the truck or across the front bumper.

There can also be cube lights fitted to the front and rear of the vehicle as multipurpose lighting. Rock lights can be attached to the bottom of the vehicle for spotting obstacles, and of course, there are circular lights that can be anchored to a number of locations on the vehicle. These lights are intended for providing light for off-roaders after dark. However, they do give a signature look that will turn heads all around the neighborhood.

Silverado Bumpers

Aftermarket bumpers on the front and rear of Silverados are something you will see all over the place. There are two primary bumper types you will see out there: Tubular and Heavy Duty. These bumpers offer a good look but do have intended purposes in mind.

Heavy-duty bumpers are designed to take heavy blows while protecting the truck. It’s common to see off-road and work trucks bearing these bumpers on account of the hostile environment they are subjected to.

Tubular bumpers are designed to increase wheel clearance to help trucks climb up and over obstacles without hanging up on the bumper itself. They can also be used for additional storage along with winch and lighting mounting locations.

Silverado Bed Covers

Additional security and protecting cargo from the elements will be desirable for any truck owner. On almost every Silverado is a bed cover to serve these exact purposes. Bed/Tonneau covers arrive in many different configurations.

Soft vinyl tonneau covers are likely the most common as they are the most affordable. These offer the minimal amount of protection and work mostly to keep the elements out. Locking tonneau covers made of hard materials are also available to those willing to dish out more cash for the additional protection.

Silverado Cold Air Intakes

When you combine additional horsepower and better fuel economy into one product it’s no surprise it will wind up as a highly popular modification for truck owners. Silverado owners will regularly pair their trucks with a cold air intake. Cold air intakes provide an engine with colder more dense air which is what provides the gains in power and performance.

You will find that the types of cold air intakes out there will vary. One primary variation is in the types of filters used. Dry filters and oiled filters are the main variations you will come across. Dry filters allow the actual design of the filter itself do the work when it comes to keeping out debris. Oil filters use oil to trap debris on the filter as the air passes through. Both have their strong points and selecting the right filter for your Silverado will ultimately come down to preference.

Silverado Side Steps

Silverados are big trucks and getting in and out of them can be quite the hassle. Even without a lift kit, having to step up into the truck can be an awkward process, and this is why so many people will fit them to their trucks. A shocking amount of options exist when it comes to buying steps for the truck, and not knowing the difference can prove to be frustrating.

Step bars are a tubular single piece step that spans the length of the vehicle and are physically separated from the body of the vehicle. Most step bars offer step pads as a dedicated footing area, but they can come with drop step options.

Running boards are flat step panels that run the length of the cab of the vehicle and generally tuck up nice and neatly to the body making them the go-to option for those after an OE look. The top of the running board is usually one large platform that will provide footing across the length of the board; however, these two can come with built-in drop steps. Hoop steps are far less common than most of the other options but work to provide a singular low hanging stepping surface.

The variations in step bar and running board configurations are numerous. Some of the most notable optional features are having the steps run to the bed of the truck to make easy bed access. Running boards also are available in power options. Power running boards tuck up to the body of the truck and out of sight when they aren’t in use. When a sensor is triggered, by a door opening or a remote control, these boards will lower providing a stepping surface as needed.
