      Video Review & Installation

The 5-inch black billet antenna that we have here will be a great option for the '99 and newer truck owners who are looking to ditch that goofy, factory ski pole antenna and clean up the look by going with a much shorter quality CNC billet aluminum option. Now, this 5-star rated product is gonna run you at right around 20 bucks while the installation is easy enough for a toddler to achieve. So, therefore, we're gonna call it a soft one out of three wrenches on the old difficulty meter with a little bit more to come on that later in the video.Short and sweet, the factory antenna is good for picking up just about every radio station in your state. But that's where it ends, right? It looks goofy. It's way too tall for the truck and can easily get damaged if you go through an automatic car wash or maybe some light off-roading. Now, the 5-inch option here on the other hand, at least according to our customer reviews, is still good enough to maintain a solid reception on most of your terrestrial radio stations but will make a massive improvement in regards to your appearance. Now, full disclosure, I actually have the same exact antenna on my personal truck and for the very small amount of time I spend listening to the radio, maybe sports talk radio or something like that, I haven't really noticed a huge drop off in performance whatsoever. Now, granted I do live near a bigger city so, therefore, the station signals are pretty strong overall. However, if you do live out in the country a bit, you might notice some decreased performance in reception. Ultimately, I just recommend, guys, reading up on some of the customer reviews here on the product page to just hear how installing this antenna has affected different owners. But again, surprisingly, I would say a majority of owners haven't really noticed a huge impact.Construction-wise, well, things are pretty simple, right? You're looking at a high quality CNC billet aluminum build, finished off in a satin black powder coat. Installation on the other hand, really couldn't be any easier, right? You might need a wrench to help you loosen up that stalker but after that, you're simply gonna screw on the new billet piece in reverse order and you're good to go. Now, if you're still a little foggy on how things are gonna go down, feel free to check out our detailed breakdown of the job right now.Tool used for this installation includes a 10-millimeter wrench. All right, gang. You're in for a real tough one today. All you need, again, is your 10-millimeter wrench. We're gonna loosen up the factory antenna and remove it right now. With our adapter in place and our billet antenna in hand, we're simply gonna thread it on in reverse order. And with the antenna snugged up, your installation is complete.Hey, we hope you enjoyed this review and install of the billet shorty antenna, available for your 1999 and newer Silverado at home.
