Justin: If you're looking for a very unique tail light for that 2014 through 2018 Silverado at home that will combine an aggressive dark-smoked appearance along with that full LED operation, well, then you should definitely consider the light bar LED tails that we have here today. Now, these options, again, will combine that black housing but with a dark-smoked polycarbonate lens offered right around the high $300 price point. Install at least according to the site is gonna get a solid one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter here. They call it an hour to complete from start to finish, but honestly, guys, you'll probably get it done a lot quicker than that. But either way, hang with me for a bit, we'll walk you through that job later in the video. So, these tail lights will appeal to the Silverado owners out there whose trucks are equipped with those factory halogen tail lights, and you're looking to make a dramatic change from the boring factory tail lights in your rig. Now, don't get me wrong, for a lot of owners out there, the stock tail lights are just fine. They do the job just fine. However, if you're the type of truck owner who loves to switch things up, you like to modify and personalize your rig, well, then installing aftermarket lighting like this is one of the easiest and, in some cases, one of the most affordable ways to do so.Now, the light bar options, the smoked options that we have here on the table are certainly going to appeal to the truck owners who prefer more of that modified or aftermarket look, thanks to the combination of the black housing with the dark-smoked lens. And of course, we can't forget about that unique lighting pattern here or design. Now, on the surface again, we're talking black ABS plastic housing here and, again, that combination of the dark-smoked polycarbonate lens, which together when combined make for a very dark, very aggressive look. But the big story here, no doubt, will be the LED operation for things like your running lights, your brake lights and your turn signals along with the way they've been packaged or designed here in the light bar options. The brake lights and tail lights are going to be located in the two blocks here with the LEDs going on. Reverse light will be housed in the middle just like the factory tail lights. And the reverse light is the only portion of this package that is not LED and you will have to actually transfer your bulb over or you can use this as an opportunity to upgrade to an LED bulb for a more consistent look. Now, flanking those blocks of bright red LEDs will be the diffused LED running lights here in kind of this C-shaped for both top and bottom blocks. Now, when fired up, they are going to be more of a diffused red look and I think it will contribute to a more custom or modified look. And again those diffused options will illuminate whenever your running lights or your headlights have been switched on.Now, that housing and the dark-smoked poly lens have been sealed up nice and tight to prevent any moisture or condensation from building up over time. And the tail lights do include all of the necessary harnesses, resistors, all that good stuff pre-wired ready to go. Basically you yank out the factory tail light, install the new light bar option in reverse order, make your plug and play connections and that's pretty much it. So, perfect time to segue to the install. We do wanna show you what it takes to get these options installed on your Silverado at home. So, without further ado, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown now.Man: Tools used for this install are a ratchet, and T15 Torx bit. First step of this install is gonna be popping open the tailgate to expose the two screws that secure the tail lights to the inside of the truck bed. Once you've done that, it's just gonna be a few simple hand tools to get the job done. Now I'm gonna take my T15 Torx bit socket on my ratchet and remove the 2 screws that secure the tail light to the truck. Once I have the screws out, I can go ahead and just wiggle my tail light free. With my tail light assembly pulled out, I can just twist my bulb sockets from the housing and set my old headlight aside. The next thing I'm gonna need to do is remove my two larger bulbs from the top and bottom bulb sockets. These bulbs are going to be replaced by a connection that is going to power up the LED light. I am, however, going to maintain my reverse light bulb here in the middle, but it is going to mount just a little bit differently than on the factory bulb. The next thing I'm gonna need to do is remove my two larger light bulbs from the bulb sockets on the top and the bottom bulb socket. I am going to leave the center bulb here for the reverse light. These larger bulbs are gonna be replaced with a connector that plugs into this light socket that's gonna power up the LED, but this reverse bulb is going to be basically the same as factory. It's just going to mount in a slightly different location. Now, I can go ahead and make the connections for my tail light. I'm going to plug in these connectors coming off of the tail light into the bulb sockets like I had mentioned before. I am gonna, however, make sure that I line up the black ground wires with the black ground wires on my harness. This will make sure that the polarity is correct and all things will power up properly. Just push those into place like the light bulb would and the connections are exactly the same. Once you have these wire harnesses plugged into these bulb sockets, you can go ahead and twist the bulb sockets into the back of the tail light. Now, we can go ahead and install our bulb sockets into place. My reverse light bulb socket is going to go in the uppermost hole. And then for my others... And it may be necessary to pull back some of the looming just to get a little bit of slack. But for the other ones, you're gonna take your connectors and you're gonna plug them into the bulb sockets like you would a light bulb. Just keep in mind the color of the wires. You wanna make sure that you line up your black wire on the plug with the black wire on the pigtail. You just wanna make sure that when you're plugging these pigtails into the bulb sockets you are mindful of the wire colors. Make sure that the black wires on the pigtails line up with the black wires on the plug sockets.Once everything is twisted into place, you can go ahead and install the light into the housing. Just push the light into the housing location and reinstall the factory hardware. Now you're gonna take your T15 Torx bit and tighten up your screws. Once you have one side of these tail lights installed and functioning properly, you can repeat the same exact process on the other side of the truck. And that's gonna wrap up this review and install of the Axial light bar LED tail lights with black housings and smoked lenses fitting your 2014 to 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500. Thanks for watching. And for all things Silverado, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
