Jake: Jake here for American Trucks, and today I'm taking a look at these LED Reflector Headlights with Black Housings and Clear Lenses, fitting 2007 to 2013 Silverado 1500s. These headlights are going to be perfect for the GMT900 Silverado owner who's looking to make a big visual statement on their truck without having to spend a big amount of money to do it. With some updated lighting and a cool, modern look, these are a great upgrade for your truck, for a great price.Whether your headlights are tired, or you're just tired of the look, changing them out can make a big difference. And these certainly make a pretty strong visual statement. The black internal housings underneath of clear lenses and the clear reflectors make for a really clean, modern look. Now, these are similar overall in style to your stock headlights, with this color scheme being arguably the biggest difference. But there's one other trick up their sleeve, which is this LED strip that bisects the light housing. Now, this really adds an additional modern touch. And since these function as daytime running lights, they're gonna provide a little bit of extra visibility for your truck as well. Those in the know are likely to pick up on that detail right away. And even if you're not so familiar with these trucks, it's still a pretty distinctive look. Now, you also probably picked up on the fact that these headlights utilize OEM-style reflectors. So they use H11 low beams, and 9005 high-beam bulbs, exactly like your factory lights, so you can just swap those over and be on your way. Now, that's gonna keep the initial cost and the running costs low, since all those bulbs are readily available, and they can be had pretty inexpensively, as opposed to, say, a xenon bulb, which is gonna cost a lot more to buy or replace, or even a fully LED light setup, which might require you to replace the entire assembly should it go out. And if you wanna upgrade your bulbs, this is a great time to do it. Plus, we've got a lot of choices for that on our site for you.The lights are constructed using ABS plastic for the inner and outer housings, with an impact-resistant polycarbonate lens on the outside. These are also weather-sealed, to help keep out dirt and moisture. All of that should help keep them looking good and functioning well for a long time. And like we were discussing, these are gonna utilize all your factory bulbs, including the turn signal and marker lights, so everything here just ports right over. You just pop it right in after taking it out of your other one. So, it makes for a pretty simple installation. Well, but we'll talk more about that momentarily. But first, let's talk price. Now, the set is gonna run you about $225, and that makes them a pretty inexpensive option when it comes to headlights for these trucks. You're still getting something nice and upgraded to replace your factory lights, and, for the visual statement that these make, I do think they're worth it. Again, they're gonna undercut the price of even stock replacements, so why not upgrade if it costs you less too, right?Installation is gonna get a 2 out of 3 on our difficulty meter, and it should take you about an hour to complete. Now, you might think that's a little bit high, and you might be a little correct on that. While the bulbs still port over right from your stock lights, like we were talking about a moment ago, the lights themselves are also totally bolt-in, but you are gonna have to do a bit of wiring to get your LEDs to function. Now, thankfully, the wires are right here for you. It's just power and ground, nothing too complicated or in-depth. And to show you exactly what's involved, why don't we head over to the install bay right now?Man: The tools you'll need for this project are a ratchet, a 10-millimeter socket, a panel removal tool, a pair of wire strippers and crimpers, and you'll also need to source some electrical connectors.Hi, everyone. Today we're installing a set of headlights onto our Silverado, but first, let's watch a short video on how to uninstall the stock headlights.Woman: Okay. So, the first step in our uninstall is to grab a pop clip removal tool and remove all the pop clips that hold in our rad support cover. At this point, we can remove the rad support cover. All right. So, the next step is to remove the four 10-millimeter bolts holding on our grille. Go ahead and grab a 10-millimeter socket and get these removed. All right. At this point, with the bolts removed out of the top of our grille, you can grab the grille itself, and pull back straight towards you. Next up, now that our grille is removed, we can remove the two bolts holding on the top of our headlight. You may want an extension for this one here, so grab your extension and a 10-millimeter socket, and let's get this removed. And then grab your 10-millimeter socket and remove the other bolt up top on the headlight. All right. So, there is one more bolt that's holding the headlight in, and it's right in between the bumper and the fender. Peel back your wheel well liner, and you can get to this bolt. It's a 10-mill. It's right in here. And you don't need to remove this. All you need to do is loosen it, so the bracket can slide forward. Grab your 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench, or a small ratchet, and go ahead and loosen this up. All right. Now that all the bolts are removed, and the one in the wheel well is loosened up, go ahead and grab your headlight and wiggle it out. Now that your headlight is removed, you can see this large factory connector. And what we're gonna do is pull back on this tab, this gray tab here, and then press down on the black tab, and remove the connector.Man: And before we can actually install our new light, there's a couple things we need to take care of. One, we need to transfer over all of the bulbs from our old light to our new light. And we also need to add a couple of connectors to these wires, for the LEDs in our new light. So, let's go ahead and get our lights transferred over first, and then we'll add the connectors here, and then we can get it installed. To transfer our bulbs over, all we're gonna do is twist the socket counterclockwise until it unlocks, and then just pull it straight out. And we'll do that for all of them. You wanna make sure that you don't actually touch the headlight bulbs themselves, because the oils from your hand could cause some damage to the bulb. So, once you get them out, you can go ahead and remove this little clip that holds the harness on, and then we'll just transfer everything over, as one unit, to the new light. And we'll just insert the sockets into the proper holes, and turn them clockwise until they lock into place. Then we can go ahead and put our clip here on the little stud. Now we can go ahead and put a connector on the end of our wires. So, you wanna make sure you've got about a quarter of an inch to a half an inch of exposed wire on the end. And then make sure you twist them all together, to keep them from fraying when you put the connector on. Now, there are several different ways that you can go ahead and connect this up to your DRL harness in the truck itself. You can use a quick connector like this, or you can use a T-tap like this. We're gonna be using a couple of spade connectors on the ends of our wires, because the harness on the truck is already set up to accept these. So, we'll just go ahead and slip these into our connector, and then use our crimpers to make sure that it's attached. Now we can go ahead and install our light. Now we can plug our harness into the back of our light, till it snaps into place. And then our LED lights, we're gonna connect to these two wires here that have already been attached to our DRL harness. So, we're gonna connect the white wire to our power source, and the black wire to ground. Now we can go ahead and install our light. And we'll go ahead and secure our light using the original hardware, and tighten it down with our 10-millimeter socket. And don't forget to tighten down the bolt on the inside of the fender here. And now you can repeat this whole process for the other light. Now, once you've got both lights installed, we can go ahead and reinstall our grille. And we'll secure it using the original hardware. And again, we'll tighten them down using our 10-millimeter socket. And finally, we'll reinstall our radiator cover, and secure it using the original push pins. And that wraps up our review and install of the LED Reflector Headlights with the Black Housing and Clear Lens, for your '07 to '13 Silverado 1500. Thanks for watching, and remember, for all things Silverado, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
