    Review & Install Video

Hey, everybody, I'm Justin with, and this is gonna be a very brief review and install of the black Roush Coil Covers available for your 2011 and newer 5-liter powered F-150. As you can imagine, this one's gonna be short and sweet, gang. But in this video, I will talk about some of the styling improvements you can expect when throwing these covers on. We'll briefly talk about the construction and materials, and then, of course, the installation itself. Probably one of the easiest things you'll ever do to your truck, to be quite honest with you, so extremely soft one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter with some more detail later on. So who is this product gonna be for? Well, I'd say it's a great choice for truck owners out there who wanna punch up under hood appearance slightly on their 5-liter truck and improve on a slightly forgotten about area. Now, I know this product isn't gonna be for everyone out there and I know the price might seem a little high given some under hood bling, but if you show your truck a lot or if you just wanna add a classy touch from a name like Roush, the coil covers from Roush will certainly do the trick. Now, a big reason for this product even existing in the first place is because the '11 through current 5-liter trucks missed out on the factory gray coil covers that the Mustang received, which, in my opinion, did a great job of really cleaning up the engine bay by hiding those factory coils on the valve cover area. Now, again, some guys just might not even care about this, right? You have a work truck. You don't really care what's going on under the hood. However, there are a lot of owners out there who are serious about modifying their trucks or maybe have a little bit of OCD as one of our reviewers had pointed out. If that is the case, adding a coil cover is a must. But let's talk quickly about the construction. And as you might guess, things are very simple. But it is Roush after all. They definitely make a solid part. Now, Roush went with a glass-filled nylon composite material here for the overall construction which looks really good. But it's also solvent and heat resistant. Heat resistance is a biggie obviously because these will be sitting on your valve covers in addition to the solvent resistance as well, because if you happen to accidentally spill a little oil on these things or maybe get a little cleaner on them, you're not gonna have to worry about anything getting messed up on you. Materials aside, the cover is very attractive, at least in my humble opinion. It's a black base with some raised lettering and kind of a fin design done in a silver. Obviously the Roush logo loud and proud on the valve covers for you, and in my opinion, just a black cover that will flow very nicely in the engine bay. You are gonna be receiving a pair of coil covers here with this kit and right around the $150 price tag. Again, might seem a little steep for some owners out there given the modification. However, you have to keep in mind this is Roush, a lot of their products are very nice. And as such, they usually carry a premium price tag. Now, one thing we can all agree on here with the Roush coil covers is the ease of install. Probably the softest one out of three wrenches I can give a product. And we call it 15 minutes on the site, but I think we factor in a couple of beers with that. Now, you will need to remove the factory oil cap and the two breather hoses here on your valve covers. And Roush does supply you with a couple of these plastic ball studs that you will need to screw into your valve covers because that's what these guys will actually kind of clip onto. Very easy stuff. You don't even need any tools for this. You can do it by hand. But again, very straightforward. Pop these guys on, reinstall those breather hoses and that oil cap, and you should be good to go. So, whether you're looking to recreate your own Roush themed F-150 or maybe you just dig the way th

Nice, but not that easy to install

When these coil covers came in, they were beautiful and couldn't wait to get them on my Roushcharged 5.0L Coyote engine in my 2017 F-150 4x4 truck. The main problem I had was getting the self-threading ball studs to thread into the holes in the valve covers without either dropping and losing or breaking them. I'm sure on a Mustang or other low vehicle, it is easier. But, on a tall truck, it is a pain. Laying over the fender, reaching into the engine bay and trying to thread those ball studs into the valve cover is a pain. With a deep socket, you have to get/keep then straight and apply significant force to get them to thread into the holes.I had to put tape on the ball stud to get them to stay in the socket. I also needed small circular spacers to allow the ball stud to protrude from the socket the right amount. Be careful! If you are not careful, you can easily break the plastic ball studs and have to drill/extract the threaded portion from the valve cover. I wish they would have provided metal ball studs rather than the cheap plastic ones. They give you 7 ball studs when you only need 6 for a reason.

      Roush coil covers

Great look for engine. But instructions should be more clear. Plastic ball studs will break off easily. Before installing remove passenger side harness holder screw. It is metal and then use it as a starter tap on the other 5 holes before installing plastic ball studs. Then you won't have any issues with broken ball studs.

Roush dresses up your engine bay.

The Roush coil covers definitely gives your engine bay some dress up. When installing the plastic studs make sure you keep constant down pressure when tightening them.I rounded the first one luckily roush gives you and extra one probably for that reason. On the 2016 f-150 the middle position on the passenger side has a stud already there that holds a wiring harness. I left that one in which gave me an extra stud. The covers are good quality and installed in 15 minutes. I would recommend these if your looking to dress up your engine bay. I have coil covers on my 2013 gt also.

      Coil Cover

Ideally, the F150 with the 5.0 coyote engine has the same 5.0 as the Mustang. The BOSS coil covers and OEM Coil covers on the Mustang will fit on the F150. You will have to buy the snap screws for them which are cheap. Really makes a difference as far as engine dress up goes. I custom painted mine and really make sit stand out. It a must if youre a show truck or if you have OCD, haha.
