Hey, guys. It's Joe from AmericanTrucks. And today, we're gonna be taking a closer look at the Rough Country Soft Tri-Fold Tonneau Bed Cover, fitting all '14 to '18 Silverado 1500s with either the Standard or Short Bed. Now this is gonna be a great option for frankly any Silverado owner out there that's looking for one of the most budget-friendly tonneau covers to keep their stuff in the bed safe from the elements. So what do we have going on here with the Rough Country tonneau, what is this thing made out of and what can you expect when you purchase this thing? We're gonna start with the frame which is completely 6061 aluminum including those bows across the middle, that's gonna be really lightweight, it's gonna be really durable as well. As far as the tonneau cover itself, we have a UV-resistant black vinyl which is exactly what you'd expect. We also have the Rough Country logo right here at the rear on the driver side. Now when you buy a regular old vinyl tonneau cover, what you'd expect is buttons or snaps. Now that is a cost saving measure, that's all well and good if you're just looking to save some money but in this case we get the frame which is a huge upgrade. And the reason for that is vinyl tends to expand and shrink with temperature. So in the winter months when this thing shrinks a little bit, it can be really tough to get those last few buttons or snaps down, not the case with the Rough Country here, since it's already stretched across this frame, this is really, really easy to roll up and down and quick as well thanks to that Rough Country quick clamp system. Now like all tonneau covers, this is gonna have all weather seals around all four sides of this thing. That's gonna be great for rain, a light snow, leaves, stuff like that, this is gonna be perfect for it. Now one thing I do think is worth mentioning is security. With a vinyl tonneau cover like this one, all it takes to get through it is just a regular old pocket knife. So if you plan on carrying anything of value in the bed of your truck frequently check out some of the hard tri-fold options as well as the hinge tonneau cover options, something like that is definitely gonna be better suited for you if security is a concern. Now with those other tonneau covers I just mentioned, you are gonna have to pay about three times, maybe even four times the price of something like this and I think this is where something like this tonneau cover can win out. Pricing for this is gonna drop in right around the $250 mark which is frankly one of the most budget-friendly we offer on the website. It's a great deal, you really are getting a lot for your money here. And Rough Country even throws in a limited lifetime warranty to boot. So let's get down to the good stuff, let me show you how to get this thing installed on your Silverado. This is gonna be really, really easy, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, should take you at most 10, 15 minutes to get this hooked up to your truck. One thing I do want to mention, if you do have a plastic bed liner be prepared to make some cuts to get that out of the way as you will need access to the bed rails to clamp this on. So without any further ado, let me show you what tools you'll need and how it's done. The only tools you'll need for this install are going to include a knife or some scissors to trim up the bulkhead seal as well as a Phillips head screwdriver. First step to our install here, you want to make sure you're working with a nice clean surface on the bed of your truck because we're going to apply this weathertight bulkhead seal and that has adhesive on the back, that's gonna go along the glass here obviously, so we're just gonna peel that away and stick it in place. Now the kit does include a lot of extra weatherstripping, so I'm just gonna take my knife and trim that to size. After you have that bulkhead seal applied, you can go ahead and put them tonneau cover up on the bed rails. You want to make sure the stud side is down because our next step we're gonna be installing these knobs as well as some clips to lock this onto the bed rails. So first we're just gonna grab that stud and pull it straight down like so. Now there is some movement side to side here if you need it, this comes in the middle position like you see right here which is actually perfect for our bed rails. If you do need some left and right though, you can loosen this up with a Phillips head screwdriver and move it over. After that, you can follow up with the part that actually clamps onto the bed rail itself and then there's a spacer you're going to install. And lastly, we're gonna follow that up with the threaded knob. And then we can do the same thing for the other side. So now the tonneau cover is installed onto the truck, we're just gonna unroll it. And in order to do that, you have to unclip both of these buckles at the back. I already did the one on the far side and after that, we're just gonna roll this out. So here's the clamp to install this tonneau cover at the rear, this gonna be really, really simple, all we're gonna do is pull that down out of that locked position. Just a quick note, it does need to be in this upward position if you do want to roll it up. But anyways, back to where we were, we're gonna pull that down like so. And then all we're gonna do is push down on the tonneau and then pull down on this lever here and that'll lock the tonneau cover in place. If you do need some up and down, this is threaded so you can spin this knob to get that. And again, if you need the left and right, Phillips head screw to get that. To wrap things up, we're just gonna do the same exact thing for the other side. After that, all that's left for us to do is shut the tailgate. But that's gonna do it from my review and install of the Rough Country Soft Tri-Fold Tonneau Bed Cover, fitting all '14 to '18 Silverado 1500s with either the Standard or Short Bed.
