    Review & Install Video

Raxiom's LED headlight conversion kit that we're taking a quick look at today is going to be a great option for the F150 owners out there that don't have HIDs on their truck from the factory and are after a much more modern look for their front end. A great thing about this kit which I have on my own 2014 F150 is that it's going to install in a heartbeat, and for that I'm giving it a very easy 1 out of 3 wrenches on our difficulty meter here, less than 30 minutes worth of wrenching with just a basic socket set. I will show you how coming up soon. This should also appeal to the owners out there that want to ditch their weak factory incandescent bulbs for a set that's going to be much brighter and whiter and ultimately it's going to cost that much less than an HID set. In terms of the construction of the Raxiom LED headlight conversion kit, you're going to be going to get a pair of pre-powered SMD LEDs which I can personally attest to being that much brighter than something you're going to be picking up at your local parts store. You're going to see the most change when you're driving either on the trails at night or even in poor conditions. This LED conversion kit is going to produce a cooler temperature. It's going to be over 6000K which easily surpasses high-intensity discharge or HID style headlights. I will add that they are going to complement other types of auxiliary lighting. That's just going to be a shameless plug here for the LED fog light conversion kit which I do have on my own truck as well. Additionally, these LEDs are going to consume one-tenth the power of your factory incandescent bulbs. They're also going to be rated over at 100,000 hours of continuous use compared to about 3000 hours which you're going to find with the generic HID kit. Let's switch gear to the install. Like I said up top, guys, a very easy 1 out of 3 wrenches on our difficulty scale here, 30 minutes for the pair with only a basic socket set, wrench and a flat head screwdriver. Getting started, you're going to want to pop your hood and then take your flat head or something with an edge to pry out the plastic plugs by your headlights. Once they're off, remove the three bolts around your headlight, turn your factory bulb connector counterclockwise to remove it, and then you can install your new bulbs, hook them up to the factory harness and you're good to go. That's going to wrap up my quick review of Raxiom's headlight LED conversion kit fitting your '09 through 2014 F150 that can be found right here at americantrucks.com.

LED Upgrade. Your F-150's stock headlight bulbs can be easily upgraded for noticeably better visibility with this Headlight LED Conversion Bulb Kit. These high-powered LEDs are a direct replacement and utilize bright white light with just a hint of blue for a more modern look. This 6000K color temperature also maximizes visibility off-road or in hazardous weather conditions.

Long-Lasting Performance. While conventional HID bulbs last for about 3,000 hours before dimming or dying, this LED Conversion Bulb Kit lasts over 100,000 hours, providing the greatest reliability and longevity for your truck's headlights. Produced by CREE, these SMD LEDs are rugged, highly durable, and made to last.

Plug-and-Play Installation. Installing these LED bulbs is simple thanks to their plug-and-play design. They arrive ready for installation and utilize a pre-installed wiring harness to click right in to your existing headlight assembly. Installation should only take about 20 minutes using simple hand tools.

Application. This Headlight LED Conversion Bulb Kit is the perfect safety upgrade for adding better visibility to your 2004-2014 F-150.

I recently installed the Headlight LED conversion bulb kit in my 2009 ford f-150 platinum. Both headlights work low beam, but when I turn on my high beams the passenger side goes out completely. Meanwhile, the driver side will go to high beam. What may be causing this?

I recently installed the LED headlights on my 2009 ford f-150 platinum and they both work fine on normal, but when I turn on my high beams, the passenger side headlight goes out completely and the driver side functions normally. What may be causing the problem?

Is there a proper way to install the bulb into the lens, I noticed a yellow tab on both sides of the bulb, one tab at the end on one side and a tab about 1/2 inch from the end on the other side? I installed the bulbs but the drivers side looks like it is shining more toward oncoming traffic.

      AWESOME!

Honestly I was pretty iffy when I purchased these after reading all the mixed reviews but I just install them and they're amazing. Simple plug and play install. Hardest part was pulling the headlight out lol.

You get what you pay for

I was thrilled to have LEDs replacing my halogens--especially at this price. I bought a set for my fogs lights, too. They look great installed. Problems: The LED will twist in the base of the lamp making them fiddly to install in the headlight housings. It feels like you might be able to twist the heatsink off of the lamp when you twist them into their sockets. There are no mounting tabs on the "driver" for the lights so you have to come up with a way to secure them. I think the connectors and driver could be a bit better made with a little more attention paid to water resistance and durability. My biggest complaint is that about 7 months in one of the lights has started to blink out and then back on, as others have described. It can go weeks without doing it and then it will do it a lot. Usually it is out for less than a minute but it shouldn't be going out at all. I have yet to talk to the manufacturer about warranty. I'm considering getting another set to have on hand but if I was going to pay twice the price, maybe I should have just bought a better quality set to begin with.

      Looks Great, but Lacks Brightness

I have had these installed for 6 months. I've got two pros, and two cons: Pros- This is an ultra-white light, and the color perfectly matches my Rigid LED fog lights. I love the look of my truck with these lights installed. Also, the install is as easy as changing a light bulb, and the price isn't awful. Cons- First (and this might be a fluke, and might be because I grabbed onto the heat sink while installing the bulb, so don't let it deter you too much), one of my lights started cutting in and out after a couple months. It wasn't just a flicker; it would sometimes cut off for a second, then back on again, and sometimes would be out for minutes at a time. Sometimes, I'd go a week without this happening, but other times it would happen constantly during a long drive. It was maddening, and it pushed me to finally just pull into the nearest Autozone and purchase a Sylvania SilverStar Ultra bulb. I'm cheap, so I just bought one bulb to replace the defective LED one, and it showed me my second criticism: the incandescent bulb is significantly brighter--though not as white--as the Raxiom LED bulb. Did my truck look awesome with two functioning Raxiom headlight bulbs? Yes. Did I nearly hit a few deer because I was almost over-running my headlights at only 65 mph? Also yes. Would I recommend? No. I'll be replacing the remaining Raxiom bulb with a matching Sylvania bulb in the near future. If you want white, bright lights, just pony up the cash and buy projectors and an HID kit. I've got kids at home, so I'm sticking with the cheaper Sylvania bulbs.

      High Beams Suck

Low beams are bright but the high beams only add a little more light and its not high. The high beams add mostly light to the sides and bottom almost towards the fog lights.

I had no idea that these would be so easy to install and the light is so superior over the stock bulbs. I can see much clearer at night and my eyes don't get tired trying to see clearly. You have to buy these.

      Bright, but...

I was really pumped to get these as I had read other reviews and was hoping for greatness. I installed them quickly but was disappointed immediately by the mounting base and bulb separating due to brittle plastic. Also the bases do not fit very well in the housings. The first time I installed them the light was badly scattered and there was less light on the road than the factory bulbs. I immediately removed them and replaced them with Silverstars. I had intended to return them but had to replace the marker lights at a later time, so I thought I would play with these again. I played with the bulb orientation and discovered the low beam LED has to face up and vertical in the reflector housing. This cleaned up the beam pattern and greatly improved down road light output. Since that I have been impressed as they are bright and do not scatter much light. But the fit and finish should be as such that I did not have to reorient the bulbs in the base to make them work. Hopefully they last awhile.

      Lots of light...everywhere

Definitely a lot brighter than the stock bulbs. Recently on a long highway trip. I can say that even at dusk the amount of light they throw onto highway signs ahead is impressive. However, after getting used to truly excellent lights on our Infiniti, these come up a bit short. No fault of the Raxiom bulbs at all, it's the fault of the factory housings. The Infiniti has a very controlled light pattern with a distinct horizontal cutoff so the light goes down the road, but is less prone to blinding oncoming cars. The F150 housing just kind of sprinkles the light everywhere including too high in my opinion. However, I'm behind the lights and not looking at them. Nonetheless, they're a huge improvement over the two 1906 era candles that came stock. The high beams don't throw much light further down the road, just more of filling in the already lit area.

      2011 F150 SuperCrew XLT

I have had these for about 2 months. They look great and the low beam is much greater visibility then the stock ones. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because the High beams are not much brighter then the low beams. I left the low beams on most the time since I also installed the LED fog lights. Still would buy again due to the greater visibility and appearance.

      Very good headlights

These headlights are very bright and light up the road perfectly. The install is a breeze! My only complaint is that my high beams do not work. When I turn on the high beams, all that happens is it adds more light, which would be fine except the light it adds is super low basically where the fog lights are. I don't really understand why this happens but I don't worry about it, the low beams are plenty bright enough and I just use the light bar if I need extra light.
