Jake: Jake here for AmericanTrucks and today I'm taking a look at the Raxiom LED Projector Headlights with black housings and clear lenses, fitting 2009 to 2014 F-150s with the factory halogen lights. Now, these lights from Raxiom are a great option for an F-150 owner who's looking for a big upgrade to the look and performance of the factory lighting on their truck. The light output of factory halogen bulbs is lacking, to put it mildly. And with these trucks getting a little bit older, the lenses aren't getting any younger looking either. So if your truck didn't come with upgraded headlights outta the gate or the ones that you've got are getting to be a little bit tired, these are gonna be a great option. Plus they do a lot to modernize the look of your F-150's front end, and that's gonna help set it apart from other trucks, and it's a full LED setup. Now, as far as aftermarket headlights go, these do err a bit more on the side of subtlety. You can tell that Raxiom took some inspiration from the OEM headlights found on other F-150s of this generation, specifically the Raptor models. Now, to the uninitiated, they might even be mistaken for a set of factory Raptor lights, but if you look closely, there's a lot more here going on than meets the eye. The first thing you're probably going to notice are the big LED daytime running light strips that run along the outside edges of the main projectors and the high beams down here. These are gonna shine a bright white with the main beams on or off, and they combine with that black housing to give off a purposeful menacing look. The main beams themselves are comprised of these three full LED projectors and they cast a really bright, focused, clean light out onto the road ahead of you.Obviously, they're gonna be much better than your factory incandescent or halogen bulbs, so you're definitely gonna notice improvement over those. The high beams are these single LED projectors down here at the bottom of the housing, and these, of course, are also gonna be an improvement versus your stock ones, and they're gonna crest a nice bright light way, way down the road so you're not gonna have any trouble seeing where you're going, even in the darkest of roads. Now, having a full LED setup is great for a couple of reasons. Well, yes, you may pay a little bit more out of the gate. You are gonna get a long-lasting really bright headlight. And when it comes to safety, it's not a place where you really wanna skimp. These are also designed to be a direct replacement for your factory lights as well. So when it comes to construction, they're designed to bolt right in place of your stock units making for an easy replacement. You've got adjusters here on the back to get everything focused correctly, and light housings are made from ABS plastics, so they're strong and durable. Plus the entire thing is, of course, sealed against the elements just like your OEM units. Now, you also get a clear polycarbonate lens on the outside, so these are gonna be resistant to UV rays and they're not gonna crack or discolor like a less expensive light might. You also have those black internal housings, like I mentioned earlier, and I think that this whole thing kind of compliments the front-end design of this gen of F-150 well. Makes for a bold and aggressive look that won't go unnoticed, but not something that clearly looks like it's an aftermarket light.Pricing for this set is gonna run around $1,350, and that does put them toward the upper end of the category when it comes to headlights for this generation of F-150. However, you have to keep in mind that you are getting that full LED setup plus those high-quality materials. So this is gonna be a vastly improved setup versus your stock one, and you're not gonna have to worry about replacement bulbs or anything like that.Installation is also gonna be quite simple and it's gonna come in at a one outta three difficulty meter. Should only take you about an hour to complete. Now, this is a pretty straightforward installation. You don't need to cut or splice anything. Everything is already pretty much pre-wired. You are gonna have to run one wire for the daytime running lights over to the fuse panel in your truck, but again, it's got the tap on it ready to go. Just plug these into either side of the lights. Not much more we could say about it here. So why don't we head on over to the install bay and we'll walk you through it.Speaker 1: The tools you'll need for this project are a 10-millimeter socket, a short extension, and a ratchet. Hi, everyone. Today we're installing a set of headlights on our F-150, so let's get started with the uninstall first. So once we've got our hood open, we've got three bolts to remove, two on the top, one on the side. So let's use our 10-millimeter socket to remove those. Now we can just pull our headlights straight out. And we've got three connectors on the backside. Just disconnect those and we're done. And repeat that for the other side. All right, for this install, it's a pretty simple, straightforward install, but you will notice that there's an additional connector here on the back of the lights. There's also an included harness that we need to run for the DRLs. So let's get started with that first. The first thing we wanna do is open up our fuse box and we're going to be accessing fuse number 77, which in this fuse box is the 10-amp fuse right here in the front row. So let's go ahead and remove that and we'll put in our fuse tab. Now we're gonna run this harness in front of the battery and across the front of the radiator. Now we're gonna run this harness right here in front of the battery, behind the core support, and then we'll pull it across the front of the radiator. Now we can go ahead and connect our light, install it into the truck, insert our three bolts and tighten them down with our 10-millimeter socket. Now, you may run across a situation where not all of the connectors are correct, which just simply means that they're not being used for your particular model. Such is the case with us. We've got one connector that we're not using, but that doesn't really matter because everything still works. So just go ahead and install the light and secure it down. And repeat that for the other side. And repeat that process for the other side. And that wraps up our review and install of the Raxiom LED Projector Headlights with LED DRL, with the black housing and clear lens for the '09 to '14 F-150 with factory halogen headlights. Thanks for watching. And remember, for all things F-150, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
