      Video Review & Installation

Hey, guys, it's Sara with americantrucks.com, and today, we have a review and install of the Range active or dynamic fuel management disabler in red, fitting your '07 and newer Chevy Silverado 1500. It does exclude the '19 and newer 6.2-liter models. This is for the Silverado owner who wants to disable their factory active fuel management system and wants a module with a simple plug-and-play install. This module ensures uninterrupted power delivery by disabling your factory active fuel management system, also called cylinder deactivation. If you're not familiar with what this is, Chevy has it on your truck factory. It disables half of your cylinders during light driving conditions in order to improve fuel economy. Now, while it's nice to save some dollars at the pump, not everyone wants this factory system robbing power. What this module does is plugs into your OBD2 port and disables the factory AFM, allowing your engine to function at full capacity. This module displays red LEDs to let you know that it's on and functioning, and it's also available in other colors as well. In order to remove this, all you do is unplug it from your OBD2, and your truck will go back to your factory settings. Now, if this is going to be used on a truck that is not your daily driver, the manufacturer recommends unplugging it when it's not in use. But if it is on a truck that is driven daily, you can leave it plugged in.Now, you can use a tune to accomplish the same thing, however, this does not rewrite your ECU. So, going back to factory is as simple as unplugging it, and this is a much more budget-friendly option than a full tune will be.So, as far as price goes, this option comes in at around $250, making it a more budget-friendly way to accomplish disabling your AFM than a full tune would be, and a bunch easier to install as well. And speaking of install, I'm giving this one a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It features a simple plug-and-play install, with no tools required, and can be done in minutes. So, with that said, let's check out that install. All right. So, install is very simple. You have the module here, and you're going to plug it into your OBD2 port, which, on our truck, is right in the center here. Line it up and plug it in. You should see it flash red once it's plugged in.All right. So, that is going to do it for our review and install. And remember, for all things Silverado, keep it at americantrucks.com.
